Heavy Julianos set for Mag dps?

What are people's thoughts for a heavy Julianos set for a sorcerer dps?

I know max magicka is important for spells but I really like the health passives from wearing a full heavy armor set, I only pve as well.

you lose so much magika regen/ Magika cost reduction/spell damage etc.

If you really like heavy armor best go 2 piece heavy and 5 light.

In PvP, sure it can work.

For PvE DPS, I have little doubt you will have issues. Your damage increases based on taking a lot of hits, which should not happen if you run a DPS build.

Light Armor gives you far better resources and spell penetration and spell critical chance. Go with Light Armor, because if you choose heavy armor for PvE DPS you will be quite disappointed with the outcome. Trust me

Julianos is too damage-specific to work as heavy armor. You'd either have to complement it with a pure sustain set like Shroud of the Lich (as long as it comes in jewellery) and CP, thus probably losing more than you'd gain or you'd end up being a gank build, which doesn't require heavy armor.

I can't see the benefits of even trying.

@Leandor shroud of the lich is only available in resto staff, head, chest, shoulders & gloves

have to agree with everybody else

if you like heavy armour on a sorc have you considered rolling your character as a tank, julianus wouldnt help here, but there a great sets that would synch up with your sorc passives (forget the name but i think its a bop set in WGT)

If you mean by "a Sorcerer DPS" a DPS in a Raid group, then LA.

If you solo or do pledges with 2-3 people, the 50% increase of Magicka Restore passive of HA is quite beneficial besides the other HA benefits.

You can run it in PVE if you're questing and doing normal dungeons sure.

But in vet dungeons, you'll only be letting your team down, pulling rubbish numbers and struggling with resources even more than sorcs already do in light armour.

It could possibly work depending on a combination of things:

-Your race (Breton or Altmer would be best)
-You could wear 5pc Julianos heavy armor with 5pc Worm's Raiment (for spell cost reduction) This would still leave you a monster helm set.
-Change your mundus to Atro if you're having difficulties with regen
-Make sure you've got 5/1/1 for armor setup so you can reap the benefits of Undaunted Passive 9
-Use two Mage's Guild skills so that you can get reduced cost and max magic (usually inner light/structured entropy/meteor)

Yes its fine for PvE... Min/Max players will cry all day, but in the end its fine, and you can mix and match other sets / gear to find what works best for you, and what you enjoy. My main is running Worm/Ebony to get purple / 2 sets of floating balls and can clear vMA

With enough CP anythings possible. I've created heavy armor magicka sets for a lot of people. They like the feel of being a walking magic tank. You do lose some perks from the light armor line for magicka bonuses but those could be made up for with CP easy enough. You can also try out 3 heavy(Chest, legs, Helm) and the rest light to help with those. Those items listed are the ones that look the best in heavy armor anyway.

Since your going Julianos, have another set like Magnus to help with spell power, more magic and regen. Then go with weapon/spell damage on your weapons for an extra boost there. You can leave your jewelry with regen if you need it, or switch it over to spell damage as well.

It's all up to you!

Yeah sorry, you won't be able to sustain AND deal damage at the same time. Besides, the only useful thing heavy would be giving you is health. All the other good passives won't be used since you shouldn't be getting hit as a DPS.

It could be a cool pvp build, but it would never work well for group pve.

7 light is best, you have shields that are much better than heavy armor If u have high magicka

As for OP, going full heavy will gimp you considerably. If you're magicka based and are going to DPS, you need the passives from the light armour skill line. Also, you need only about 18-20k HP to clear all PvE content, which you can get easily just with CP and, if you really really need a boost, a health glyph on a piece of armour.

This thread reminded me of raiding in the game during the early months. Every couple weeks a newer player would come into a raid wearing HA with a 2H. Certainly had a cool look.

Within a couple weeks, after general explanation to the group about armor benefits and what not they would be showing up in correct armor and clearly have a new build. Just reminiscing.

If you pve by yourself questing and other over land stuff run whatever you want. Even if you're not optimal it's about having fun.

If you run full/mostly heavy armor in group content prepare to be kicked occasionally.
Damage will be noticeably lower.

Don't have a lot of experience with PVE, but if you are having trouble with taking too much damage, why not use the big hardened ward shield instead of heavy? If your magicka is at least over 40k, it will more than double your health bar in PVE.

Works just fine, man. I don't do much in group anyways, and I hate light armor. Despite what people are saying, I fair just fine soloing with 5 heavy Julianos on my sorc. I favor the other set to be Destruction Mastery, and Llambris or whatever helm giving extra majicka. I've been able to solo a lot of world boss pits and dungeons in this post-Morrowind patch era with the heavy on. LA, for me, is just crap for resistance or damage mitigation. Sure you can spam the shield, but during the fight and when the shield wears off and you're busy trying to pommel the boss and no healer backup to spam heal on you, you can easily be one or two-shot killed with the LA on. Oh, don't get me wrong. In good hands, a sorc in the traditional LA, sure, it can be brutal. However, there have been plenty of sorcs, even with maxed CP, wiping around me in many a world boss pits. I'm sure they're wearing the LA.

Not saying LA is bad or anything, I just favor heavy on all my toons, majicka or stam. It's how I play. When I first started the sorc toon, yeah, I went with LA Julianos as normal. However, shield is good and all, I was still wiping at dolmen and world boss pits, even being maxed CP. I have always use HA with my stam toons, so I figure why not with my sorcs. If you favor LA, cool, it's how you play. With HA on, I'm DPSing just fine; melting down all them bosses' hp just fine in no time flat. Resource/majicka management.. that is what good lightning staff heavy blast does well; does good damage and regen the majicka pool. Nahh, you or anyone else wearing HA, or even LA or MA, won't get kick if you're with me in a dungeon or anything. We'll pass it just fine by me doing it sololy or in a group.

Completely unviable for endgame PvE (dungeons and trials) because you'll constantly be running out of magicka. You can wear it while questing though.
