Hard facts: You are probably not as good as that streamer you copied a build from

I agree with this. Not the "better than you" part - but the play to your own strengths idea. Builds/build videos should be used as reference only. Play how you want to play, and play in a way that YOU are comfortable. Don't beat yourself up if you're not the best PVPer in the game, neither am I and neither is any streamer. We're all just regular humans and everyone has their weaknesses. Everyone makes a bad combat decision sometimes. It's just a game and an unbalanced one at that so fretting over this kind of thing is silly. Do your best, be aware of what you could improve on, don't just make excuses for every death - and learn from your mistakes. Above all, have fun. Cheesy, but true.

Since we have a new meta with Hotr , it is time to remind people of a difficult truth about copying builds .

The popular people that make build videos have a lot of time playing ESO and have learned to min/ max very well .They have PvP'd , ran trials and Dungeons so much they can almost do it asleep . The builds they post reflect that experience . Don't fool yourself this patch thinking you will just be able to copy and preform just as well .

Running zero health is a bad idea if you are not an expert at ESO game play . Do not be afraid to put points into health as a dead player does zero dps . So many people running zero health and expecting max damage to stay alive die all the time in trials and PVP . Put points in health until your survival skills improve . 30k is a better starting point then 20k unless you are highly experienced . Players that stay alive longer contribute more to a fight in the long run then a burst player that dies in the first couple minutes . Stop believing zero points in health is necessary to be good in ESO .

Mundus . Choose a mundus that compliments your play and not just your dps . If you are good with dps but bad at staying alive then go for a survival mundus over more dps . It is smarted to build yourself up towards your weaknesses then to compliment your strengths even further . If you are tanky and have good survivability then go for a damage mundus .

Streamers are a good source of information but not the end all of information . Their contributions should be taken with this common sense in mind that everyone plays different . Good luck everyone and try to stay alive in HoTR :D

    dps is 20% sets 80% rotation ...

I can proudly say that almost anyone can probably use a build better than I do. And if I can make it through by the skin of my teeth, you can probably play a bit more and blow that away.

That said I've reserved myself back to just doing gear and skill setups. Build videos in the current environment tend to get folks to just complain about stolen builds or how it's just a shade or two different from another one. Simply put, there are few unique builds out there.

Copying builds is just for people that don't have the time to work out their own, PvE often has a meta but there is still room for variation, PvP, well anything goes. I was similar to OP and was only in PvP my 1st year here, luckily i met some top players there that explained PvE to me and did pledges/trials together in ts3, i was tanking so made it easier to learn mechanics.

My problem is with trial raid leaders that try to copy tactics from high end raid guilds and apply them to a group with little experience. These leaders often don't know the easier tactics that suit a groups lack of dps/survivability for that particular mechanic.

I have got into trouble in a few raids for explaining simple ways to do tougher bosses like in vMoL or Ozara because raid leader is adamant that the Hodor way is the best way. These leaders should be able to adapt to their groups or they are just wasting peoples time.

I only watch PvP comedy videos on youtube but it would be great if someone made vids explaining the most simple ways for newer PvE groups/pugs to complete vet trials/DLC pledges...
