Hi guys, new player. I haven't had connection issues like this since early 2000's when broadband was finding its feet...
I am disconnected from the game constantly and i mean constantly. I did a tally of how long i stay connected for within a 2 hour period and i averaged 4 minutes between disconnects. Eventually after hours of misery the game takes pity on me and only disconnects once or twice an hour but for the most part, constant.
What amplifies the frustration of this issue is the kind of disconnect. You know, you have disconnected, everyone stops moving, you cannot mount or draw your weapon etc, but the game refuses to boot you back to the login screen for a good 45 seconds to a minute. You cannot log off manually, you can but sit their and wait knowing you have once again, been disconnected.
I've recently been looking for a casual MMO to get back into so im also playing Wildstar and GW2, with no issue at all (I've never been disconnected from these). I also play CSGO, Killing Floor 2, Elite Dangerous and non of them disconnect, the issue lies with ESO.
Now im a pretty tech savvy guy so this is what i know/have tried:
My average ping in game if i don't blink and miss it before being booted out is between 60 and 80, which is fine.
I have tried adjusting NAT settings.
I have tried enabling/disabling DMZ.
I have tried enabling/disabling DHCP
I have tried enabling/disabling uPNP
I have tried turning off the firewall.
I have forwarded all the ports.
I have a BQM setup confirming my connection hasn't dropped at all.
I do not have a static IP With Virgin as far as i know, however my IP changes at the most, once per month, so it not an IP changing issue.
I have a wired connection, not wireless.
I have tried running a cable directly to my router rather than using my powerline adapters.
I am on Virgin Media 100mbps Fibre, i live in the North West of England.
Now from what I've played i genuinely believe that ESO is the best MMO out there at the moment, and when i get a good hour to play it without the disconnect do very much enjoy it, but i'm throwing the towel in now. Everything I've done is tbh, far too much effort just to sort one game and frankly i'm out of ideas. This will mark the first time I've ever quit a game based on being unplayable from a connection standpoint. Im posting this just on the chance that someone else is having the same issue or someone has an idea i haven't thought of.
Thanks,
Noct.
