Iirc, Woeler has a khajiit tank. It's not quite like DPS where every stat, every ounce you can squeeze out is demonstrably better. Even healing is more flexible with racial passives.

If you want to min max, every end game tank needs health, and needs stamina. There is just nothing wasted and no diminishing returns (Nord passive is great, but to a point). Argonian are a REALLY close second though, and excel at resource management.

I play Dunmer but I would recommend Argonian for anyone wanting to tank, the extra resource managment and healing done/recieved, as well that they still get lots of health far outweighs the extra resources of the Imperial in a lot of situations, especially now that max resources do not make sustain easier.

Chose Nord because of 20% health regen plus 9% max health. I have a Nord tank, and he's unkillable.
Imperials have 12% max health, but no health regen racial passive.
Argonians would probably be my 2nd choice because of their 5% extra healing, plus 9% max health, and the ability to drink a potion to restore even more health than the potion would normally restore. (But I find using potions annoying, so ... Nord for me.)

Bosmer has high stamina regen, also the tiny bosmer will look weird against the huge boss.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Misclicked, wanted to choose argonian. I'd go with better resource management for the first tanking char. The potion passive is quite good and will give you some stamina even if youre blocking.

Stamina regen is 0 when youre blocking, regardless of the race... You can only recover it with potions, passives, or heavy attacks (but then you need to drop block).

Well I picked Nord as my first character when I started the game a couple of years ago, because I played Nord in the previous 3 TES games. I didn't even know what a tank was until I ventured into group dungeons, when I basically fell into place, following what people told me in chat. The racial passives were much different back then, but when they changed them, and the way block and resource management worked, I didn't bother to change race since the differences were so small and the cost so high. But if I were to make one from scratch I would probably choose Argonian too.

If you're wanting to stick with the Ebonheart Pact, I like both Argonian and Nords rather equally. Argonians do have some pretty sweet benefits though with the increased healing and added potion effects. I also like Nords for slightly increased Stamina, reduced damage, and great synergy with provisioning effects. I guess choose whichever one you like better aesthetically.

Imperial or Nord is fine; either one. I chose Nord for this thread because it's lacking over the Imperial. Sure, Imperial gives out a bit more health, but the Nord also have some benefits. Either one is fine, but just ensure the tank is a DK. Even though the Igneous Shield was nerfed to crap for StamDK, it is still good for a DK tank. Better shield for you and others; especially, if your DK tank is 60k or more hp. Plus, I use Magna Shell which also gives good shield to those dpsing the boss. Add on other skills of a DK like Burning Embers, Hardened or Volatile Armor, Draw Essence, and Eruption, the DK tank is practically invincible. However, do not use Bone Shield.. please!! It is not effective for a tank because Bone Shield is stamina based and it eats up a lot of stam when stam is what is needed for your blocking to be effective. Those who say to use Bone Shield for a tank.. what is wrong with you people?!

Health regen, one of THE most useless traits for a tank to have.

    Argonian
Argonian provides the best sustain and has a good max health passives plus added healing received and given (for when tank heals themselves). The game became more about sustain than about max stats with Morrowind.

Imperial is a good second choice due to max health and max stamina and used to be BiS due to those max stats.

I have one of each and can sustain fine with both, though it is much easier with the Argonian.
