Always go with a beast race, and the Orsimer are easily my favourite from a Lore perspective.

I am a magblade and I was a High Elf. Which looked very nice. But then, I chose for Dark Elf. I did not like it in the first place (Appearance). But the stats were alright. So after tweaking and tweaking. She is pretty again. I think you should go for STATS because you can make it pretty if you wish. But if you do not like cats, do not make argonians. Jk, I mean. Khajiit is not my thing, nor Argonian. I have a Stamblade too but from STATS the Kahjiit is better. But no big difference as a Redguard for example.

Appearance and lore.

Both stats and appearance. And lore... I choose Argonians and Khajiit because why be a boring elf or human when you can be a lizard or cat? Their lore is fascinating, and Argonians are especially versitile for any build, whether it be dps, healer, or tank.

The important factor is the concept I have in mind for the character. Appearance is a small part of that, but I don't care about stats at all. My templar healer is a bosmer.

Lore first, appearance second. Stats do not matter to me at all.

Lore is important, but more specifically the culture of the race has to appeal to me. I couldn't give a fig about stats.

I do not universally make builds to racial passives, I have stamblades who are Altmeri, Argonian, Breton, stamknights who are Argonian, Breton, a stamplar who is Altmeri and a sorc (I do not believe in stamsorcs) who is Nord. Having said that, I have builds who fit their races, but I have just as much fun playing with my mismatched race and resource builds as I do the "optimised" ones.

If we get even more character slots than we already have, I plan to make a possible Nord magblade, Imperial magplar, sorcs of possible Bosmeri, Imperial, Khajiiti, Orsimeri or Redguard races. Characters that I've made, both on live and on the PTS, already have their stories and backgrounds pretty much covered, but lore comes after appearance, for me.

To say nothing of which, I play at least one of every playable race on each server.

I chose stats but name making opportunities are close second, which would be in "Other" category.
