Too many sources of major defile?

I recently came back after 7 months off so I was looking through the ESO fextralife wiki at sets and abilities to catch up and it really struck me how common the Major Defile debuff is in the game. Considering it's opposite buff Major Mending is now incredibly hard to get/keep up for most classes, with only a fully charged resto attack granting it for a mere 3 seconds on Temp, Sorcs and NB's, I think they should either make Major Mending easier to get and/or maintain again or reduce the number of abilities and sets that apply Major Defile. I'll freely admit I'm saying this from the point of view of a MagTemp in PvP. Not only do I have to contend with my survivability being tied to reacting by healing after taking huge damage bursts (on a laggy server to boot) I'm constantly having my healing debuffed by 30-40% from gear set bonuses, poisons, heavy attacks, class abilities and weapon abilities. Sure I can spam cleanse constantly to remove the healing Debuffs but there are so many sources and no period of immunity so I'm debuffed again almost as soon as I've hit the button which leaves me no time to do anything else and drains magic pretty quickly. It just seems to me the prevalence of healing debuffs, most specifically Major Defile, was a necessary counter from a time when Templars had Major Mending as a passive but as that's not the case anymore it really hurts us in PvP.

As a mag temp you can purge the debuff.

How do you think anything stamina or mag dk's feel.

The only place where i think it's too easy is the snipe morph.

When someones spamming its basically a perm debuff. Snipe is already hard hitting and has by far the longest range in the game, a perm major heal debuff is a bit too much.

I'm pretty sure you didn't bother to read OP's entire post.

    I did.

He actually has a counter to defile though, most other classes don't.

Honestly you need defile for some builds and classes, magplar especially.

I wanna pair crest of cyrodiil with affliction and velidreth...still need to find the bow and a 1H...

equip resource poison on my 1H, fire on the bow...keep trying to find the right gear/ability combo for my stam dk...this will be the 3rd try in the last few weeks...

the thought of defiling and befouling someone at the same time, while occasionally poisoning them, is very appealing :p

Yeah I think it's too much for every class to deal with, the only class not really effected is MagSorc's. But at least DK's have access to major mending as part of their class still. Not to mention their class survivability is more about mitigation than healing to begin with. I'm sure it still sucks getting your healing debuffed as a DK though and Stam NB's have it worse since it's so easy to break their cloak and their healing options are pretty limited. It's just for MagTemp the whole class is designed to stay in their house and heal through damage so such easy access to a 30% healing debuff really trashes us.

Major Defile (Decrease Healing taken and Health Recovery by 30%)
    • One Hand and Shield Ability: Reverberating Bash (Morph of Power Bash)
    • Bow Ability: Lethal Arrow (Morph of Snipe)
    • Nightblade Assassination Ultimate: Death Stroke+Morphs
    • Dragonknight Ardent Flame Ultimate: Dragonknight Standard+Morphs
    • Templar Dawn's Wrath Ability: Dark Flare (Morph of Solar Flare)
    • Warden Green Balance Ability: Corrupting Pollen (Morph of Healing Seed)
    • Werewolf Ability: Claws of Anguish (Morph of Infectious Claws)
    • Armor Set: Durok's Bane
    • Secondary Damage Type Effect: Disease

Major Vitality (Increase healing taken by 30%)
    • Nightblade Siphoning Ultimate: Soul Siphon (Morph of Soul Shred)
    • Alchemy Potion: Vitality (Beetle Scuttle, Butterfly Wing, Fleshy Larva, Torchbug Thorax)
    • Armor Set: Scourge Harvester
    • Armor Set: Daedric Trickery Set

Major Mending (Increase healing done by 25%)
    • Restoration Staff Passive: Essence Drain
    • Warden Green Balance Passive: Accelerated Growth
    • Dragonknight Earthen Heart Ability: Igneous Shield (Morph of Obsidian Shield)
    • Armor Set: Daedric Trickery Set

Major Fortitude (Increase health recovery by 20%)
    • Dragonknight Draconic Power Ability: Dragon Blood+Morphs
    • Alchemy Potion: Restore Health (Blue Entoloma, Bugloss, Butterfly Wing, Columbine, Lumious Russula, Mountain Flower, Water Hyacinth)

There are indeed a lot more ways to debuff this than there is to buff it, be it by healing taken, healing done or health recovery. But to be fair healing power is also calculated by magicka and spell power or stamina and weapon power, which can not be nerfed.

    Crest of Cyrodiil Set
(2 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage
(3 items) Adds 1206 Max Health
(4 items) Adds 4% Healing Taken
(5 items) When you deal melee damage, you apply Major Defile to the enemy for 5 seconds, reducing their healing received by 30%. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.

took crest of cyrodill, affliction and velidreth out for a short spin last night on my stam dk...i'm liking it so far...

seemed like it kicked my werewolf damage up a bit also...

was gonna rely on using reverberating bash for defile - but, it costs a bunch of stamina and i'd prefer slotting something else (deep slash)...

something about the synergy of crest of cyrodiil and affliction seems cool to me...affliction was my first pvp set i ever equipped with what seems a lifetime ago now....
