Flame Blossom= dissapointment. PSA: Don't bother farming it.

I just spent the better half of 30 minutes testing Flame Blossom with one of my guildies. The results are very disappointing. This was tested on a Dunmer mDK with 890 CP:

Valkyn Skoria has an 8% chance to proc on DoTs.

Flame Blossom has a 10% chance to proc on ANY damage. (Which, logically, would proc on direct damage or DoTs)

Flame Blossom failed to proc as often as Valkyn AND the proc was very, very slow. My guildie easily stepped away from the path. Not roll dodged... he stepped.

The proc rate must be off... because I would literally sit there and pop my guildie with Burning Embers, Volatile Armor, Burning Talons, and Wall of Elements. It was boring to wait for the Flame Blossom proc.

Sadly, this could've been a decent set to cater to any magicka build... since it is supposed to proc off any damage.

@ZOS_GinaBruno do you think this is a bug... or working as intended? If it's working as intended- I'd suggest reevaluating the set.

Has anyone else had different results?

People have been using it for its 4 piece bonus.

So you can go 5-4-2.

e.g Sun , Flame Blossom, Skoria.

Also keep in mind that Flame Blossom has twice the cooldown of Skoria. Have you accounted for this difference in cooldown when you talk about slow proc rate?

With max uptime it was only ever going to give 800DPS, that alone just isn't worth bothering with.

Dunno, the set sounds like a great set for magplar burst dmg. Stucture up, toss a purifying light on target, shoot reflective light, toppling charge, start sweeping, and execute. Hopefully you can get a skoria to proc and a flame blossom proc during the combo. My only question is how hard does it hit, and does it get boosted by Thermaturge or Master at Arms CP?

Can you tell me if the proc aims toward your target regardless of where you're facing or does it only go where you're facing?

Yeah I was really interested in the mechanics since most of the sets sound good but are terrible in practice...I am just a noob though what do I know? Certainly not the blatantly obvious.

Flame blossom got ninja nerfed hard. The fire line used to target the enemy before moving. Now it just moves out in front of the caster and has a 1 second charge before moving. Basically like velidreth except only shoots 1 projectile and does less damage.

@Narvuntien Do you know how much spell pen the 4th piece adds? I can't seem to find that information anywhere on the wiki or forums. All I see is that it was reduced 22% from the patch notes but I'm not sure what the value actually is.

The spell pen for the third piece was about 1200 on epic if i recall correctly. (I'm at work)

Yeah, for a set that barely procs, is slow to fire, and doesn't have intelligent aiming- it's very useless.

"Hey guys- can you all stack in a line and don't move while i wait for this to proc? Thanks!"

Sorry, but if you had been keeping an eye in PTS forums, people have been saying that Flameblossom is painfully slow since we had a chance to test it.

I suggest that you use it only in PvE, it's pointless in PvP

Since I last checked this post, I discovered a mag nb who was using it for it's burst potential. Basically it was the vipers equivalent. It may move slowly, but if you are a melee magicka user, it works wonders.

Imo, if you want a damage proc set for melee magika then just run vicious death, similar 2-4 and vicious death 5pc is far superior to the useless flame blossom proc, at least there's a chance vicious does something valuable

And? It's easier to get a kill than it is to land flame blossom proc anyway. If you're fighting someone bad enough to eat that proc then you're fighting someone who is an easy kill and therefore an easy vd proc imo

If it was nerfed in any way on PTS, I always take a special interest. Often there is some combination of weapon, passive, etc., that makes it much better than it appears when testing on a friend.
