Kicking tanks other then sword and board

So, one of the guilds I was in...at least until yesterday...asked (told) all tanks other than sword and board to get out of the guild. He followed up the chat rant with an email rant saying the same thing. He's the guild leader, he's well within his rights to run the guild as he sees fit. His issue seemed to be with debuffs to ads for to the group. Something I gather he felt made other tanks useless. I am curious as to how many agree with his stance? <edited> To clarify, I'm curious about the stance of a tank needs to be a an enemy debuffer as well. It is my pleasure to assist the group however I can with whatever tools I may have (in this case a DK). Also, as I had never grouped with the GL, this wasn't a personal attack at me nor did I take it as one.

✭Tanks without S&B should be kicked. Period.

✭✭✭✭In all fairness, if you are running two ice staves and are not a nightblade (with mark target on) you can't give major fracture and breach.

Thalmor-Nordmaster✭✭✭✭✭Is this the same guild that kicked non Templar healers? What debuffs can an Ice Staff tank bring? Tanks have that debuff where they stick you really fast and deep with their sword. It hurts when they do that.

TheCaptainJosh✭✭✭A tank's number one job is to hold aggro. Stacking adds, applying debuffs to a boss, or in anyway buffing the group DPS is icing on the cake. I don't know how someone can tank vet dungeons like Ash II, WGT, or Mazzatun with a 2H, bow and inner rage. You don't have access to Major Fracture and reliable Minor Maim if you only just ice staves. Even if you have class-based Major Fracture, you will have to cast 2 skills for Major Breach and Major Fracture instead of just casting Pierce Armor, that's not something I recommend. You certainly can back bar ice staff, that's a solid option, but I don't recommend using double ice staves.

And for record there's a lovely video of a sexy frost mage tanking vhof like a boss.
Frost tanking is fun. You can provide greater aoe of minor main while slowing and imbolizing enemies. Warden has class skill to make up for fracture. If you really want to have fun get a charged frost staff with a frost glyph. Probably could be frost tank/ dp/healer hybrid Winter wonderland!

(I love using frost wall of elements as an opener: large aoe that grabs aggro and inflicts minor maim. And the resource switch can be a group-saver.)CP 750+

I mean, this is how we get new meta environment. People trying new builds. Now, if someone is talking to a player who can't make their build work, that's one thing. ✭As a healer, I don't care what weapon you use. If I see my tank:- Not hold aggro on bosses majority of the dungeon.
- Not effectively control at least to three enemies in mob packs regularly.
- Take excessive damage the whole time due to their non-tank armor choices.
They are getting a swift kick from the party, or I just leave if kick fails.1 -

It actually isn't a troll, got kicked earlier Durl Wield wearing full heavy undaunted taunt, normal dungeon so easy mode, just making a bit of fun of it with copy past but yeah, situation was real.1
