What would be youre recommendations for magblade sets? I have my "ressource" build which uses brahara + withered hand which works well but im looking for something different.... could twice born star + mother's sorrow work well since nb already has higher crit change / damage? Or would you rather go the Julianos + Willpower route or Julianos + War Maiden?

Wizards riposte(jewels, 1 armor, resto)+ transmutation(4 armor + sharp inferno) + 2pc monster set(Valkyn, troll king, BS) is the meta and they're all relatively easy sets to get

War Maiden is pretty cheap tho. Start with that, its almost good as scathing mage.

Edit: When war maiden shows up i tried on vMA and other dungeons and trials aswell. Not perfect like BSW for end game min max, but still viable.

5 Scathing Mage / Julianos / Mother's Sorrow (any 2x5 combo) and a mismatched monster set, preferably heavy if you are wearing 2 dropped sets for more health. Molag Kena is easy to get. Another good setup is one of the 3 sets + 4 Infallible Mage + Monster set (Grothdarr or Skoria).

5 piece scathing mage is incredibly powerful when coupled with twisting path. The upkeep of the proc is amazing. I think 4 piece Martial Knowledge is an easy set to get if you wanted the 4 piece and included the staves for a spell power increase, or you could go with willpower jewelry and any sharpened fire and lightning staff of any kind. Then 2 piece Grothdarr for the monster set. All pretty easy to get (vVoM is very easy)

would maybe twice born star work better with mother's sorrow than julianos?

A lot of people seem not to be that fond of mothor's sorrow...i could go julianos + war maiden or julianos + mother's sorrow...

if sustain is an issue i can use withered hand...?

NECROPOTENCE!!!! seriously.. super easy to obtain, and well worth the investment when you cast SHADOW IMAGE from yer back bar.

unless somebody has something against max magicka? ;)

I also look for a 2-nd set for my magblade and somehow feel the 4 pcs. Necropotence will be best for 5 pcs.War Maiden.
~3k extra magicka pool + spell damage from that magicka. Just the bad look of Necro argonian style is a real meeh...
No idea yet about monster set.

Twice born is a solid set on mag nb. All the sets you mentioned work unless you're trying to min max. Take your pick with what you think is more easily accessible

Ditch Scathing Mage set, it won´t proc of Twisting Path anymore as far as I know at least.

Sets that are fairly easy to obtain:
    - Julianos: Works for all magicka classes. The dps difference up to BiS isn´t huge.
    - Mother´s Sorrow: Used to be easy to get, but due to the latest hype around this set it might be harder to get your hands on, or at least more expensive than it used to be.
    - Moondancer: Either go 4 pieces or full 5 pieces, both setups are great for magblade
-Master Architect:: A good set if you´re running in a group, might be harder to get your hands on.
    - Skoria/kena/Grothdarr: Helmet of your choice really, all are great for magblades
    - Necropotence: If you´ve no problem maintaining 100% uptime on shades then this is a good setup as well, downside is that necropotence cost a little unless you want to farm it. And it´s not un-likely this set will receive a nerf the upcoming patch (no signs of it yet, but I wouldn´t be surprised if it gets nerfed)
    - Willpower (jewels): Also and ok set if you don´t have IA/MD/MA jewels at hand, beware that you won´t be able to run two 5 piece sets if you use willpower
    - Warmaiden: A good set if the majority of your damage comes from magic damage. In a trial you´ll most likely use elemental blockade which won´t get buffed by warmaiden. In my opinion Julianons > Warmaiden for PvE (PvP is another story) on a magblade.

About monster set for magblade it seems best is Nerien'eth, as the only one on the list dealing magic damage, so get buffed by War Maiden.
(1 items) Adds 1064 Max Health
(2 items) When you deal direct damage, you have a 10% chance to summon a Lich crystal that explodes after 3 seconds, dealing 7408 Magic Damage to all enemies within 4 meters. This effect can occur once every 3 seconds.

Disadvantage is it works mainly as a finisher, hiting after 3 seconds when mobs have a little health left and some of them already left the lich crystal's position (4 meters is not much). Also needs direct damage and doesn't want to proc on Swallow Soul or Refreshing Path. Maybe it doesn't work on direct damage spells which have do some additional actions, like healing over time.

My 2-nd choice is Ilambris with Lightning staff (just because slightly better Grothdarr already wears my Sorcerer:) ), but disavantage is it needs element damage so some Staff spells, but in my opinion it procs more often then Nerien'eth.
(1 items) Adds 967 Max Magicka
(2 items) When you deal Flame or Shock Damage, you have a 10% chance to summon a meteor shower of the damage type that deals 1300 Damage to all enemies within 4 meteres every 1 seconds for 5 seconds. Each effect can occur once every 8 seconds.

Finally I crafted Julianos 4 pcs. It seems much better and much cheaper than if looking for rare Necropotence gears. Especially that Necro staves are incredibly expensive in sharp and look pretty ugly (basic style) while we can craft Julianos sharpened in an own style (in my case Order Hour Lighting sharp, Skinchanger Resto defending). So far it was a good choice.

With the Nerieneth buff, will it be more effective of mag dps now? It explodes every 2 seconds and I think does 20% more damage next patch. (and is there confirmation it doesn't proc on swallow soul? I'm pretty sure Scathing Mage procs it)

In the context of scathing mage, with the changes to twisting path, will it be better to run Twice Born Star or Julianos instead?

War maiden is garbage in pve don't use it. Julianos will be the easiest to obtain armor for you that is still really decent.
