Casual players not really.
However, do some foresight with it. Some races are mag related, some races are stam related. Just get that part right.
It won't ruin your toon to get it wrong, but it would just be foolish to make an Orc that focuses on Magicka. Whereas an Alt or Bret would have been much wiser.
Hey guys,
I'm considering making a magicka-based Templar (I think I got that right) mainly for solo PvE content, maybe some light group content. Certainly nothing high-end. Does it really matter what race I go with, or should I just go with what I like for this level of play?
Thanks!
Not at all.Casual play - Does race matter?
An altmer has an 10% dps bonus over say an nord as an magic build.Casual players not really.

Khajiit is always an safe choice. This one has tried to play as some of the more cooler races but always came back to being a Khajiit. And most of my toons are of the magicka variety. It is far more enjoyable to leave the min-maxing attitude behind and rejoice in a character you really can identify with.
So thumbs up for all those who play non-"meta" races
