On the topic of "normal looking vampires", how would you feel if...

The bottom line is really as follows:
    1. the lore of the Elder Scrolls supports the ability of vampires to live undetected among mortals and they do it by looking just like everyone else.
    2. The game itself shows this with multiple vampires. In DC most notably Count Verandis Ravenwatch and Heloise. Lamae herself has dialogue telling you that the vampires of her strain, the in-game available one, live among mortals.
    3. The player base has made it very clear that this is a highly desired cosmetic perk.
    4. That being the case ZOS stands to make a huge chunk of change off of it.
    5. This cosmetic request does not affect gameplay in any way.

Ergo, there's absolutely no logical reason for ZOS NOT to accede to this 4 year old request.

Still don't want that. Vampires should always look like vampires.
I don't really understand the hoopla. Before you become a vampire (unless you have never looked at any other player characters as they surround you in every utility hub, and you've never read any ESO materials online) you know what vampires look like. After you are bitten, you even have a choice whether to accept the state by doing the quest, or to go get cured. So nobody has this appearance forced on them, they've chosen to be something that looks that way already. The way they look is just a part of the package. If someone doesn't want to look that way, they can decide not to, already, without demanding that the existing thing be changed.

Same can be said about other aspects of the game. :p For example, why people are complaining about pvp imbalance if they already knew its here?
Thing is, the game exists to be fun for its players. And if they arent happy with certain aspects, developers should at least consider changing it. Especially if that aspect doesnt affect game balance and other important things.

Exactly this. And FOUR YEARS has been well long enough to wait for it.

Glad to see this topic popping up again! I'm tired of being punished for wanting to explore multiple areas of the game - Vamp for PvP, but I also do a fair bit of RP and fashion wars. *shudders at the pasty skin* I made a very, very darkly colored Argonian. They're a vamp now.

They went from pitch black to PEARL WHITE. *faceplant* And my poor Khajiit...

While I would also be satisfied with the OP's suggestion, I do think a trophy/useable-item-buff-thingy - that you have to craft! - to remove vamp appearance while still retaining its bonus would be appropriate. I don't care about vamp appearance while in the middle of PvP, as I can't see the pasty skin amidst all the flashing lights anyway. This'll let people who enjoy the pasty skin/stages 1-4 mechanic continue to enjoy it, while those who don't like it don't have to suffer it.

My only gripe against the OP's idea would be it's slight lack of flexibility. I can see situations where I'd find the feature useful, and others where I'd grumpily eye the respec button to get rid of it.

I think we're probably all in agreement that we do not want the current Stage 1-4 mechanic to go away or even change. We simply want an OPTIONAL cosmetic... option! That way everyone should be happy. And as for me, I'm not too picky about how they do it. Quest reward, new passive skill that requires a skill point, or "skin" sold in the crown shop. Just bring it on already!
