We need a transmogrification (Reforge) system

For everyone who doesn't know what transmogrification system is let me explain. Transmogrification is transforming something (Armor and weapons) into the look of a different things that are the same type (like a GS looking like a different GS). I understand that we have costumes but they still don't cover what styles we have in the game. With this system we can keep costumes special but add customize and different looks to the fashion scrolls. If we can go to stations that let us change the style of the gear we have and maybe the traits so it can be easier on newcomers and encourage veterans to try out new builds. The traits are second of the requests but I can go without it I care more about the fashion part. So please give your opinions on the matter.

I paid for the Imperial package when the game was in launch with the expectation that when ZOS advertised that I could convert items into Imperial motif, that they meant that I could convert items into Imperial motif.

    I was lied to.

We definitely need it, they have confirmed that they're working on it, all that's left is to make sure they're doing it well. I think implementing it a-la the collections UI, where you make a one-time expenditure to unlock things across your whole account and switch them about as you please, is the best method.

Yes, its work in progress but no ETA, don't look like it comes with the horn of the reach DLC
most likely would be the quality of life one 3 DLC from now, other option would be second DLC with the clockwork city, or next chapter.

Its basicaly two ways to do it, simplest is to simply select style. You take an item of a set, select the style and item will change to that style, downside is that this is fairly restrictive. style will keep item level and you can not change robe to jerkin.
The other is using an style item, here you can use items of any level, you can use styles you don't know just buy the template item and use probably use items of other weights. Broom would be popular in PvP.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I think a reforge system is the way to go. Can only be done by master crafters and bind on pickup. Just like Ice was forged into Oathkeeper and Widow's Wail.

All we need is an appearance tab that allows for equipping all crafted/looted gear and cosmetics, without the stat bonuses, ofc. It's that simple.

I was under the impression from Song of Ice and Fire lore that Valarian Steel was similar to Damascus Steel and Samurai blades in that it's forged and folded hundreds of times to layer it into millions of layers molecules thick.

And then the Show portrays them as being made from castings as the molten alloy was being poured into a mold.

I've lost my faith in adherence to lore.

Bingo! No to transmog (you know they will put in some pay mechanics for it), and Zos has said it's difficult. APPEARANCE TAB=easy, QoL solved.

We can only hope they do a good job with it when it comes. I doubt anything anyone could say would have an impact on their plan, as they wouldnt have mentioned it yet if they didnt have a plan.

@Jamascus that's not really a good way to do it, I feel, because then you have to carry around anything you want to change into. The best way is through the Collections UI that they already have for all other cosmetic things.

Threads like this need to happen, er...daily, I think.

I played since beta and took a looong break(came back four months ago or so). The end game has really matured, but I was just plain appalled by the looks of my late game gear. Many of the later level motifs don't look as good as the low level "basics", and even worse, RED.

Why on earth does the end game material have to be freaking red? Outside of a handful of motifs with a static model that gets rid of it, everything is red. You can't get rid of it on weapons like you can on armors, so unless you select one of these particular motifs, you're stuck with red.

Outside of the one person here and there, who would actually, intentionally dye their weapons red if they could? Of all colors to be permanently stuck with, why this one? Even the original elder scrolls games found this unthinkable---it stuck you with black(ebony) because, well, if you're gonna be stuck with one end game weapon look, it might as well be a popular one.

When setting their timeline for this, I think they should say "red swords" four or five hundred times during the meetings. The complete wretchedness of this will add urgency to the programmers and graphic artists because none of them can possibly realize that they stuck their entire paycheck into an end game graphic that leaves you permanently red. Red. Swords.

EDIT: Because four has a u in it.

I expect someone already informed OP in this thread that Zos has already stated it is something they are looking into. Of course that is not a timeline, could still be awhile.

Threads have moved on from asking for it to thinking of the possibilities of how it will work.

Also, it will not be called Transmog since that is a WoW term.

Bur seriously, yeah, we knooooow. We all want it, we all need it, it would make a neat perk for master crafters to put skill points in, then reforge/resew/recarve all stuff into any style they learned... spending resources and such, with a destruction chance like temper improvements that can be migrated by spending more resources...

...or possibly even make magical "style change stones" that they can sell in guild stores so people without crafting alts can also restyle their gear! (unless ZOS would keep those for the crown store)

And as has been said, they are "looking into it". Although...

Yes the hundredth time this thread has been posted, and it's a good thing. The important features that are not in the game shouldn't be left in one year old topic. If you want somthing keep going on about it and posting until ZOS gets sick of hearing you and gives in. Kudos for another topic on transmog. P.S. Yes I am being serious.

Red is bad enough, but I hate that EVERYTHING is shiny, like damp tinfoil shiny.

Yeah, but 'years' before that he said on a live stream that we were getting Jewelry crafting.

I understand that crafting 'some' jewelry would/could make stuff O/P on occasion, so I'm willing to be reasonable, but I sure don't understand why we can't crush jewelry at an enchanting table and get the glyph/runes back, and maybe some 'chanting XP. too.

They would have multiple appearance tabs so you can select which outfit you want at any given time. They should even have a cosmetic inventory. Lotro does this and it works great.

Judging fro mistakes like having the "You can purchase 4 more slots in the crown store" clip with the rest of the login UI... I'm going to guess ZOS doesn't have the best UI artists at the moment. Either that or they're really busy.

This could be one of the primary factors that delay this feature. The reason why there's no ETA is because ZOS hasn't found an immersive, fair, and fun way to do it.
