I posted this because of a situation that occurred to me being told you may be banned. When your discussion is not in clear violation of the community rules, action such as banns and warning saying you will be banned threatens the health of the forums. That's why I started this discussion.

I'll grant you: that's a legitimate concern, just not a particularly realistic one, given the context.

You're worried about improper moderation resulting in a chilling effect. It can happen. I've seen it on other boards before. However, with the overall tone of moderation on the ESO boards, it's not something you need to worry about. At least not now. Obviously, at some point in the future that could change, but the moderators aren't punitive.

I've interacted with a few over the years, and they've always struck me as quite professional. It may not seem like it, but they are here to maintain the health of the boards, and do a pretty good job of that overall.

Hello, I appreciate your time in reviewing several threads within the forum but after careful review of the official terms of service Terms of service and a thread posted by a moderator. Many threads are being wrongfully closed by several moderators who have a vague idea of what the actual forum thread rules are. Please review the actual rules before accusing others of wrong doing. Take your time to read the Terms of service.

This thread is not in meant for individuals to "Harass, stalk, threaten, embarrass, spam or do anything else to another user of any Services that is unwanted, such as repeatedly sending unwanted messages or making personal attacks or statements about race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc.;"

Quotes are from Terms of service.Thank you.

Um... okay I quickly skimmed the TOS when I joined, and as far as I can tell... this thread is actually a violation of the TOS... my response to the thread may be as well...

I'm not sure what you're attempting to accomplish by posting this, but I'm relatively sure that whatever it was, it will result in failure.

But best of luck in all of your future endeavors anyhow. :)

    (He must be new here)

First rule of moderation is you don't talk about moderation, the moderators have said that over and over again in the forums, want to discuss moderation and why you think it wrong, send them a PM, that's what they ask you to do.

I did not post this discussion for me, I want moderators to understand is the concept of just b/c you are a cop doesn't give you the right to change the constitution, learn what powers you can enforce.

And yet you post it in an open forum, instead of contacting the people questioned, discussing your concerns with them.. Smart move /Sarcasm

@Giles.floydub17_ESO an excessive amount of threads are being closed for the wrong reasons. However I did not post this discussion for me, I want moderators to understand is the concept of just b/c you are a cop doesn't give you the right to change the constitution, learn what powers you can enforce. Several individuals mockingly posted how this thread will be closed instantly, this is b/c a couple of moderators believe rather than know what they are doing is right. Again I just want them to acknowledge the official rules so the thread posters aren't afraid of being shut down instantly..

The pertinent part of your argument is missing. You seem to have chosen to not provide even vague examples of what you are talking about is excessive use of force which is odd given you seem to be stating the issue is rampant. Maybe I have missed something quickly reading across your OP and a couple of your replies.

Further, it is very odd that you started in this forum just a couple days ago, have created on thread other than this one and have not posted in any other threads yet you have this strong opinion.

Speaking as a long time administrator on several Rockstar game based forums I can tell you that moderators have all the power and discretion given to them by an administration. Further as an administrator I am aware of what they do and am fiercely loyal to them as a group.

Just remember mods are human beings and must make judgement calls and are not always infallible.

Whew, I need my first cup of coffee. lol

@TequilaFire One has to take into consideration OPs account is 2 days old in the forums. It is likely there is more to the story that someone who has had such short term and extremely limited activity is upset about this. I would guess that OP is not pleased with being moderated himself on another account or has had a friend moderated heavily. It just does not add up as it appears on it's face.

Well then unless he is using a proxy he can be dealt with quite swiftly by ip address and in my case if he is using a proxy I would just assume he is circumventing a ban.

In any case this is the type of thread that will be closed, but should also be removed from public view.

It's Saturday. I'm guessing ZOS, like many companies, mainly operates on "business days" (9-5 Monday through Friday)?

@Rohamad_Ali As good as that may be a moderator is not an administrator and their actions should be accountable to disciplinary actions when their is consistent improper use of power. Although you are correct and I found and read through the community rules and it does in fact say the following says from community rules::

"The ESO Community Code of Conduct includes almost all situations that we all may encounter while on the ESO forums, but there will always be some things that are not covered. Those will be handled at the ESO Team’s discretion, and if something becomes a common issue or concern, we will update the ESO Code of Conduct to include it. If we see something that we feel is inappropriate or harmful to the ESO community, we do reserve the right to take appropriate actions for the overall health and quality of the ESO community. This includes things that are not specifically mentioned in the ESO Code of Conduct. If ever in doubt, please remember to be civil, constructive, and respectful at all times while on the official The Elder Scrolls Online forums."

The issue is that when you are clearly not in violation of any of the community rules but actions are being taken by moderators giving "guests" rules extremely vague and dissuading them of posting future threads that may be in violation of rules as the following statement says from community rules:

"Please be aware that violating the ESO Community Code of Conduct can lead to disciplinary action, including — but not limited to — temporary suspension, banning, and the permanent closure of your ESO forum account and ESO game account, if the circumstances warrant "

I posted this because of a situation that occurred to me being told you may be banned. When your discussion is not in clear violation of the community rules, action such as banns and warning saying you will be banned threatens the health of the forums. That's why I started this discussion.

Thank you for explaining further , it helps to understand this . There is a system in place to handle these situations because sometimes there a problems that do occur . Players can file a support ticket if they feel moderated incorrectly . Sometimes after review , moderation or disciplinary action can be reversed if players complaint are found to be true . That is why I suggested this earlier . That is the proper way to get resolution . It does happen sometimes .

You my friend are wasting your breath...the Mods don't have to follow their rules and they can and will arbitrarily enforce them on whoever isn't part of the "In clique" if you want a non biased ESO discussion I suggest one of the fan forums or Reddits

You can challenge moderation through a PM to a moderator or even a support ticket but you can not openly discuss moderation on the forums . Send @ZOS_AlanG a message with any concerns you have . He is very responsive and helpful .

Yeah, no. I took issue with a moderator over a year ago, escalated it to Mrs Bruno who ignored it, escalated it to Mrs Folsom who also ignored it. I should point out that said messages were both polite and literate, so there was absolutely no excuse for not dealing with it.

$5 says if I'd sent them a message telling them how awesome they are at their job they would have replied.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".
