If I were to get banned from anywhere and did decide to come back to the forum under a different alias it would not be to hide my identity. In a strange situation I were to get banned for reasons I acknowledge I would come back under a different alias but it would be something like "unboundlopez banned", and I would apologize to whomever was in charge and not come back.

Moderators are NOT administrators this thread is directed to moderators, moderators DO NOT have the permission to create their own rules. Moderators follow the Administrators rules and are given permission to enforce rules, but like any large organization you will have a few who do not know the code of conduct that they are required to follow.

ZOS can do whatever the *** they want. It's their forum.

If they want to replace every mention of 'lag' to 'fluffy pink bunny slippers', they can.
If they want to close a thread because it theoretically smells like microwaved fish, they can.
If they want to change every single user icon to the adoring fan from Oblivion, they can.

If you don't like it, you can take your armchair to YouTube or whatever and moderate your own comments section.

I would be nice if we didn't originally get in trouble by following the rules.
It'd be a shame to get in trouble for pointing out that we originally got into trouble while originally following the rules.

That's actually what I'm afraid of, I haven't been on this community for to long but many of the discussions that I see locked have bogus reason why a moderator locked the thread.

I would love to see an administrator post an official thread on what moderators are not allowed to do and what administrators to contact regarding such rule breakers.

Well, you'll never see that, because it would be, straight up, an invitation to any troll who wanted to dance around the edge of what's acceptable. This is why, a lot of forums have vague rules. Your overall behavior is being evaluated. If you feel a moderator has overstepped their bounds, you can take it up with the staff via private messages. But, you're not allowed to pick a fight publicly on the subject.

There are, usually, reasons for the individual rules, and their intent should be fairly clear. Also worth remembering, some threads are shut down because of posts that have been deleted. The thread isn't going anywhere positive, and will be deep sixed before it can go off the rails again.

Who's permission do they not have? Yours? WTF are you smoking?

Moderators can moderate any way they see fit, they don't need your permission, they don't need to prove anything, they don't need to follow the TOS or anything else for that matter.
The code of conduct is for *you*, not them.

Might as well get used to it because it won't change ...

    @unboundlopez

I made the pertinent part bold for easy reference.

    IBC

BTW, it is purposely vague since every possible reason may not be known. This thread will likely be closed.

BTW, your thread that was closed. Might have been due to it was posted in the wrong area but normally they would move it. Mods usually state a reason for closing a thread, but not always if they are busy.

@Giles.floydub17_ESO an excessive amount of threads are being closed for the wrong reasons. However I did not post this discussion for me, I want moderators to understand is the concept of just b/c you are a cop doesn't give you the right to change the constitution, learn what powers you can enforce. Several individuals mockingly posted how this thread will be closed instantly, this is b/c a couple of moderators believe rather than know what they are doing is right. Again I just want them to acknowledge the official rules so the thread posters aren't afraid of being shut down instantly..

If you are allowed to visit a business premises, does there need to be a great big sign up saying "Do not defecate on the floor" to enable security to have some right to escort you out of the building if you did indeed decide to take a dump on the carpet?

Zos is a privately owned company and their forums are not a constitutional right . Perhaps a look into private ownership rights will help you to understand the difference between these two areas of law . Talking on a private forum is no where near the same as walking out on a sidewalk in public and saying what ever you please .

The moderators here are in no way out to get anyone . It may feel that way but it is not . They have to monitor several Bethesda forums and ZOS's . When you post here it is the same as being a guest at someone's house . You maybe welcomed to speak but the house owner dictates what is and is not acceptable behavior in their home and at anytime can remove anyone or set rules for staying . The law has no say in how a private home owner sets rules for guests . That is why you must be invited to the ESO forums . It is not a right of game purchase but a privilege set by the proprietor .

@Rohamad_Ali As good as that may be a moderator is not an administrator and their actions should be accountable to disciplinary actions when their is consistent improper use of power. Although you are correct and I found and read through the community rules and it does in fact say the following says from community rules::

"The ESO Community Code of Conduct includes almost all situations that we all may encounter while on the ESO forums, but there will always be some things that are not covered. Those will be handled at the ESO Team’s discretion, and if something becomes a common issue or concern, we will update the ESO Code of Conduct to include it. If we see something that we feel is inappropriate or harmful to the ESO community, we do reserve the right to take appropriate actions for the overall health and quality of the ESO community. This includes things that are not specifically mentioned in the ESO Code of Conduct. If ever in doubt, please remember to be civil, constructive, and respectful at all times while on the official The Elder Scrolls Online forums."

The issue is that when you are clearly not in violation of any of the community rules but actions are being taken by moderators giving "guests" rules extremely vague and dissuading them of posting future threads that may be in violation of rules as the following statement says from community rules:

"Please be aware that violating the ESO Community Code of Conduct can lead to disciplinary action, including — but not limited to — temporary suspension, banning, and the permanent closure of your ESO forum account and ESO game account, if the circumstances warrant "

I posted this because of a situation that occurred to me being told you may be banned. When your discussion is not in clear violation of the community rules, action such as banns and warning saying you will be banned threatens the health of the forums. That's why I started this discussion.
