How to make ESO a potentially better game

these are just a few ideas i had in the last weeks that could potentially make ESO a better game or it's things i find need fixing or be changed a little. you may or may not agree, i don't really care and i don't expect them to be implemented or things to be changed in that way anyways (though one can still hope, right?). i just wanted to have them writen down...


STORYTELLING
  • the games needs a villain (or villains) who stands out, who ppl will recognize and link to the game wheather they play ESO or not, like the Lich King in WoW
    "why" you ask? because Molag Bal is forgotten already as soon as you port back to the harborage. the story is flat and boring and when ppl think ESO they don't think "oh yeah, that bada** Molag Bal". also marketing.

UI
  • racial backgrounds instead of alliance backgrounds at the character select sceen
  • the character select thingies in the character selection screen should be moveable/sortable
  • the number of research projects currently running for each craft should show in the character select thingies for each character
  • the reseach times should show in the character window (or at least the number of research projects currently running for each craft)
  • client sided deactivation of vanity pets (sorry, but i just don't care for your 200px of cutesy-poo)
  • visually enhanced dead group members on the floor (even though there is some kind of icon for dead team mates it's way to often that one can not find the actual body on the floor to interact with. maybe give them a green border, like the red border enemies have, the moment they fall...)
  • visually enhanced tanks in dungeon and trial groups (just something i would find helpful)

API
  • players should not be able to use add-ons to see other players loot

RACES
  • re-rebalance the races passives (when everyone is choosing High Elves for their magicka dd's and Argonians as healers you obviously did it wrong!)

CLASSES
  • more classes, damit! (how about a bard class?)

SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • 2nd tier morphs
  • there should be more abilities for the vampire skill line
  • why is there several damage shields that scale either with health or with magicka but not a single one scaling with stamina?

GAMEPLAY
  • players shouldn't be able to deal desease damage, neither with an ability nor with a glyph (well, maybe transformed werewolfs but other than that it simply makes no sense)
  • killing npc's with the Blade of Woe shouldn't proc procs
  • npc's should not be able to target and/or use range abilites on players through walls/around corners (players can't target or shoot through walls so why can npc's?)
  • snare/stun abilities should be removed from common trash mobs in the open world/delves/public dungeons and such (high level players hunting skyshards, lorebooks, achievements or who are simply trying to get quests over with are not interested in fighting trash on the way and slowing them down only serves to annoy and frustrate them, since the trash is for the most part no threat and most people will just keep running anyways, making these mobs mere tar pits)
  • leashing range/(de-)aggression timer for mobs should be shortened (if players are not interested in fighting mobs then they are just not interested in fighting mobs and there is no point in having them follow the player for 3km)
  • dolmen bosses(/mobs) strenght should scale much more with the number of players in the event area (right now it's like the bosses just plummet into a giant cooking pot of aoe spammage when there is like 40 ppl farming dolmens, makinging them die instantly)
  • please, please, please remove all interactable objects at guild traders market stands and make them part of the scene, just like in Outlaws Refuges

BAG
  • glyphs should be stackable

CRAFTING
  • one should be able to combine single motifs (style chapters) into books

ITEMS
  • maelstrom arena destruction staff enchant is rediculously overpowered (proc on every single lightning staff heavy attack tick?)
  • the Spawn of Mephala monster helm set could need a little tweak (a 5 sec proc with a 5 sec cd could probably make this set a bit more useful, especially for tanks without any viable cc)
  • there should be more sets/procs that benefit magic damage based classes/playstyles (why even bother playing a magblade when you just end up using destruction staff abilities anyways because most sets/procs are fire or lighting damage based?)
  • the ice staff heavy attack taunt makes ice staves utterly useless as a "weapon" and (imho) does not allow for ice damage based magicka dds in group content
  • the training trait should be taken off the loot table of any veteran dungeon or trial

TOOLTIPS
  • of abilities should include ALL relevant data like the cone size or the aoe radius or maximum effected players etc (i've noticed that many abilites lack informations like that)
  • of armor, weapons and shields (set boni) should include ALL relevant data like the radius of a proc or maximum effected players etc (the descriptions are often just very vague)

TRANSMOGRIFICATION/DYING
  • transmogrification of armor, weapons and shields into other styles (maybe based on style mastery)
  • weapons should be dyable

ACHIEVEMENTS
  • completed achievements should be account wide completed (who wants to do already completed achievements all over again on another char? no one, that's who! [and after all i completed it, not the pixels that represent my character!])

COLLECTIONS
  • costumes should also include appropriate weapon and shield styles
  • the skeleton polymorph should include the beast races skeletons (i know the models exist, don't be cheap on us ZOS)
  • DONKEYS!!! (mount)

    Exotic mounts should be available in game. It is a missed opportunity that the Dro'Ma-thra mount isn't a reward for completed VMoL HM.
    Everyone has a plan, until their plan gets nerfed

    I would like something to make dead players more visable though. Playing hide and seek while dodging boss attacks and adds is a pain.

    Get rid of Resource Poisons...

    That is my single biggest problem with this game, and its only a problem because there is no counterplay against them...

    So they should either get rid of them or allow us a means of countering them; either solution would be great in my book...

    As a healer, I fully support this notion. That little '+' above a dead ally is very hard to see in the chaos of the moment.

    As for making ESO a better game, well that's kind of subjective... as a solo RP/PVE'er, I would like to see improvements in housing and more character customization options (dyes, transmogs, etc.)... as a crafter, I'd like to see more crafting options (jewelry?) and more viable crafted sets... everyone would like to see less lag, bugs and DCs... better class balance, more stable servers, etc.? I mean, most of this stuff is common sense... but they have to have priorities, and I don't expect that most of my personal wishes rank high on their priority list.

    Obviously he's not the "lich king" - I believe Skyrim also had some sort of high-powered lich, but when I read "lich king", he's the first one I thought of.

    I do the lich king as hes prob one of the most recognized villains in a fantasy setting . Although ES'S community always talks about Mannimarco and Molag bal but I think its more tight nit that lets say WoW it seems like it isnt.

    No offense, but did not read everything.

    Villain. There is this guy called Molag Bal. That is the initial villain in the game. He stands out. I would not expect anyone that is not familiar with ESO to know about him just like those not familiar with WoW do not know who Lich King is. And Really bringing up WoW? I always get a kick out of players comparing something to WoW as a shining example. Most players in WoW probably do not have a PC capable of playing ESO or would be challenged playing ESO due to player skill level.

    UI
    Racial backgrounds are part of lore. They are probably in the game via books but are easily obtainable via google searches. Having them in the CC section where we cannot see them after character creation is of limited help.

    Character design is in a logical order. Head is in one section, grouped together and body on another tab and again grouped together logically. Very limited benefit to being able to move these around.

    Adding research times and projects to character select screen just opens a panacea because everyone has something they would like to see at CS. Besides, there is an add-on that permits looking at the research for all PC characters from any character.

    There is client side deactivation of pets, though you cannot deactivate other players pets. We do not dictate what other players look like. Of course in trials the raid leader can call for players to put their pets away. There is an add-on that is used by most serious raiders that puts pets away when entering a trial.

    Why should a dead player be more visible than a living player? As you even stated, their is an icon over their head to indicate they are dead.

    Why do tanks need to be visually enhanced. I can tell you where to find them, they are standing in front of the boss or adds. Even no reason for tanks to have crown, if they die their corpse is right in front of where the boss was a couple seconds ago.

    API
    Being able to see the loot of others does not detract from the game.

    Racial passive
    They were just rebalanced. Everyone is not choosing high elf. For magicka it is high elf or dark elf and third is Bretton. For stam there are several good choices and for tanking Imperial or Argonian are good and healing Argonian, high elf or Breton are good. Most of the races have a good passives for something.

    Classes
    They just added a class. We will not get another class until the next expansion at best.

    Skills
    2nd tier morphs means more skill points and more importantly more balance issues. Zos has enough trouble as it is.
    Vampire line does not need more skills. It would be horrible if it received 5 skills like the WW because then we would not be in WW form full time for obvious reason. No one uses WW in serious progression raids for a reason. Players do use Vamp and even vamp abilities. OMG, Mist form is great in the new trial. Would be sad to see it become useless.
    Stam shields do not scale to max stam because of tanks, mostly. Zos entertained max stam scaling last year and quickly changed it back while it was still on PTS, iirc.

    Why should players not be able to do disease damage? We can do poison damage but cannot collect disease to inflict it?

    Many of your "improvements" just serve to make the game more vanilla. Take cc away from overland mobs in order to not slow players while they get shyshards? Really? Any high level should be able to kill them quickly and move on. These changes would make the game ridiculously easy to the point of being boring.

    That said, I do agree with making dead group members more visible. With ground effects, it's sometimes very difficult to see them.

    i'm pretty sure it doesn't mean what you think it means. also, if you had read carefully, i did wrote that high levels are able just not willing, so why try and force them? damage is enuf of a thread to make low levels fight them, but there is no point in slowing down ppl that don't want to fight. and i don't think they are there to have fun, so your argument is not an argument that makes sense in this context.

    This is where a lot of people would draw the line with your post. Maelstrom Arena is horrendously RNG and hundreds of people have put in 50 plus runs to get the weapons they want sharp, ESPECIALLY the Destro staffs.

    The Inferno sharp is one of the most sought-after items in the community, and it's drop rate for some people is so awful that people have begun demanding a vMA token system so it could just be bought after 'x' amount of runs.

    To nerf it now would be to spit in the face of everyone who grinded dozens to hundreds of hours to get it and a kick in the balls to everyone who has put in even more and is yet to get it.

    I want to, for one, and there are many others whenever this comes up who also want to play the game fully with alts and not simply fast-track them for PvP or endgame purposes, including many who like me (although not a role-player in any major sense) have different approaches with different characters so do not, for example, want a law-abiding character saddled with Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood achievements just because a different character on the account earned them.

    You already answered on another thread like that, and I ask: Why?

    What's the point in not wanting account-wide achievements just because one of your toons is law-abiding? You got the "kill 50 people" achievement and that's bad? You already have mementos and costumes from that, I don't understand what's so upsetting.

    eso, i think, would TRIPLE in its excitement for me if it had more CLASSES, RACES, and alliances.
