casuals pay bills, something people still do not seem to understand. Parents with kids and a family with 6 hours a week to play are what matters, not the hardcore elite 10 hour a day guy. You're the minority, like everyone in These forums (including myself).
If there is anything that prevents a casual from playing the game, like a steep learning curve, that's never going to happen.
The thing that further annoys me is you have the power to make the game as hard as you want. Gimp yourself and do the content. It will be a challenge.
But introduce a difficulty level option, like other games do.
It's not simply to do with casual versus hardcore. The beauty of One Tamriel is that you can do any of the content in any order, so if you want to focus on completing the main story you can, or if you want to do a DLC like the Thieves Guild without having to wait until you're level 50 for fear of out-leveling the base content then you can do that. Meanwhile even visiting old zones has a purpose as you get gear, materials, and xp for combat there. Being over-leveled for the base content was frankly always a problem pre-One Tamriel. Even if you didn't do any of the DLCs the content was trivial by your early 30s if you did all the quests in every zone.
The main reason some players now find the overland content so easy with low level characters is because they're allocating hundreds of champion points to them. That's fine for those who want to sail through the content with ease, but those who prefer a bit more of a contest can choose not to allocate any champion points until they're level 50.

I'm not gonna claim CPs don't make a difference, but they don't make THAT much of a difference. They make what is strong, stronger. But what is weak, is still weak. When trying out EU server recently I could still solo WB as a level ~45 in broken armor 20 levels behind me. It took forever and was definitely not easy but it was possible. And even then normal mobs dropped within 4 seconds tops. No cp there. It's more of game knowledge - which is something ESO doesn't share with you at all unless you're into looking up guides or asking the forums
