Clicking esc to go to the main menu gave me awesome shots like this to use for my desktop.
Now on the PTS, when I click esc, it blurs out half the screen and ruins the shot. PLEASE don't do this! This looks terrible and there's no reason for it.

This is sort of what I was leaning towards, has it been checked that depth of field is off for your live server settings and turned on for PTS?
If it is enabled ON on PTS, turn it off and see if it does the same.
Generally ESO has always done this, adding a blur to the picture behind UI elements like inventory and character panels. I don't recall for the ESC key screen.

That is just awful.. If they have the intention to keep it, atleast change it so that the Depth of Field is reasonable (char sharpened, background blurred) Right now it's just a straight line sharpened and the rest blurred..1

If this were actually an improvement, I'd agree with you, but this isn't an improvement to me.I think it's called improving things for the sake of improving it. Nothing wrong with that.
There are a lot of people who take screenshots on this screen, then crop out the left-hand side to post the pictures here on the forum. They won't be able to do that any more.

✭✭✭✭✭I checked the depth of field, and it's not the issue. They actually changed this for the PTS. All the people who take screenshots from that screen won't be able to do that any more.

✭✭✭✭Ugh... that's ugly - the blur isn't even feathered in (you can see a clear line where it begins).
It's hard to imagine they'd intentionally do something so sloppy.
That said, there's still a way to take screenshots like the first one, you'll just have to disable UI (there's a hotkey for that) & align camera.0 -

ZOS_GinaBrunoCommunity ManagerWhen we introduced the customizable combat cues, we had to move your character to the right a bit so when you preview the colors, you can actually see it. Otherwise, it would appear under the menu. The blur you're seeing around your character is standard for all UI windows, but since you don't have a UI window up right away when you get to this screen, we'll look into removing it here. This likely won't happen in time for this update's launch, but will probably come in a future patch. Thanks for the feedback, all!6 -
Sounomi✭✭✭The game menu doesn't trigger the blurring effect currently on live, so this is something new added on the PTS.
Here's a quicky add-on that will remove the blur til ZOS removes it from the new update.1
