I play both male and female characters, but my males tend to be pretty metrosexual. It's just my personal preference, I like slender types instead of big macho men. Also I try to consider the job or role of the character - both my nightblades are skinny little things, because I have the image of a lithe, stealthy assassin in my head. My DK tank is more well-rounded, with a fair amount of muscle and more stockily built. My healer (the one I posted earlier), well, he sits at the back line and heals, so he may have skipped out on the reps. I've put him in the Priest of the Green outfit before and he looks great in that, too.

I pick costumes that fit them, but it's really up to the individual player. I'm not going to lie, I think big burly players running around in wedding dresses is kind of silly, but y'know, you do you.

Threads on this subject can be predicted to come around evey few months or so on the forums for just about any game where the player can create a character - male, female, monster, alien or other.

Why is it considered weird for a female to play a male or the other way round but not weird for a human to play a cat or a lizard for example? (I really don't need an answer - but fire away!)

Dressing your guy in a girl costume has no real reflection on the player (male or female) in real life - people are prone to making unfounded assumptions though.

Any way, dress as you want in game or real life and enjoy it.

Well, in game you are perfectly safe, but beware enjoying it in real life. Breaking someone's immersion there may not be perfectly safe .

I know how to use imgur, iPhone won't copy the bb code and when trying to do it manually it's deleting the parts of link you can't see, but thanks for suggestion all the same.

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, I had to stop using the Android app a while ago because they keep trying to change it from a quick image uploader into some weird social media board thing. And the mobile web site is useless because it just yells at you to download the app \:

I don't identify with my characters.

I can't use a Forge or an Anvil to make something, nor can craft leather goods or sew up an outfit. I am certainly not an alchemist or have the ability to make magical brooches and apply them to something so they can never ever be removed. I have not killed an animal ever in my life other than bird, a chipmunk, and a raccoon that decided to run under my car. And I cried after each one. I have never killed a person or a spirit or a spawn of a deadric prince. I have not tilted with gods. I have not made lightening or fire come from a stick. Last time I shot a bow, I had to dig the arrow out of the siding of the house next door. I have not ran long distances across a county, burdened with 400 pounds of armor or loot. I have never stolen anything, which also means I have never fenced anything. I have never dabbled in politics or influenced the dynastic succession of a country.

None of these things have I ever done or ever wanted to do in real life. Well, I guess really wanted to do in real life.

However I have characters that can do all these things and more. I have one character that will kill your grandma to take bread to make a sandwich with the cheese he stole from my grandma. I have characters that stand toe to toe with 30 to 50 foot tall behemoths and do battle with them, and survive. I have a character that can heal someone from the brink of death with the wave of her hand. It is those characters that I guide through the game.

That is why I can have female characters in a video game. And, yes, I am a dude.

Who cares what gender or what clothes someone wears in a video game? In my mind it's all good, like the stones song goes, whatever gets you through the night. The only reason I could see someone caring or someone bothered by what another player chooses to do is because you are looking for some kind of more complex relationship from people in a video game, and that might be the loneliest and saddest subtext I have ever read into a post.
