and when will clockwork city be added.

I have suggested before that I think it is likely that Spell Crafting will be added with an expansion for added value, if and when it is added and of course this did not take into account Zos changing their business model again.

Do you guys really think spellcrafting is a good idea? Zeni can barely balance the game as it is, so spellcrafting would either be very limited or very OP.

I don't want to spoil anything quest related but one NPC said they studied spell crafting and then there is a quest where you have to copy/trace something just like zennimax showed in a video of copying tracing rune stones for learning spells, couple other things that I don't remember exactly but there was a few references to it. Which Ive never herd or seen of anywhere else in the game. Like someone mentioned above there was some more data minded things a few months ago. Maybe a long shot but it was enough to make me notice.

I don't remember the location sorry, I just remember they said they studied spell crafting. It wasn't the main city if that helps.

Interesting, most other updates have referenced a future update before, so it's worth keeping in mind. (Orsinium NPC's referencing Hew's Bane, Dark Brotherhood talking about Vvardenfell, etc.)

Here is a recent tweet from Zos saying that spell crafting is still on development:

My guess is next chapter, on Q2 next year, with Summerset Isle.

Simply, yes its a good idea. The core design was done over a year ago and its neither very limited nor very op.

I think the players can only do better when it comes to skill design.

Clockwork City has already been confirmed as the Q4 DLC this year.

Fingers crossed they don't butcher balance with it though. It's a potentially very risky element to add to the game.

That depends entirely on the strength of crafted skills. Make crafted skills too strong and classes are basically just giving passives. Make them too weak and its just a sub-par crutch for classes missing certain skills, like an execute for mDKs.

In the current state of the game its definitely high-risk high-reward if you ask me. Class balance isnt perfect but it has been far worse in the past. I would like to see spell crafting in order to increase build diversity.

There will be no new class coming in next years chapter, like it or not both Warden and Vvardenfell were big selling points with the Morrowind chapter. So an inspired guess tells me that the next chapters selling points will be <insert region here> and spell crafting.

Locking spell crafting behind a pay-wall would be the exact definition of pay-to-win.

It would make sense to couple spell crafting with a Summertset Isles DLC/chapter though.

They're never going to truly achieve balance, but the thing is even on things that are balanced people will cry imbalance and on things that are broken it'll still take the lifetime of that patch to be fixed if at all *cough*procsets*cough*. Personally, though, I would love to see spell crafting, I remember reading the datamined information before it was all put on a shelf, thinking of how to make an even more satisfying pet build.

IF Summerset does arrive it will be a paid for chapter and definatly not a dlc (using ZOS terms here), there was plenty of screaming and foot stomping prior to Morrowind release that Warden was P2W and the opposite is true, spell crafting will be no different to the Warden class in its impact on existing game balance between paid for releases and paid for base content. So before spell crafting is even released people had better get used to the idea that it will not be a for $'s insta-win button press.
