Dungeon Run with lower level players

Question: How do you feel about a lower level player following you into a dungeon.

Honestly, I slow down and let them tag the mobs so they get credit, and will wait a reasonable amount of time at the boss for them to catch up so they can take it down with me. I was on the other side as a low level one time and I really appreciated it when a high level did not hoover up all the mobs. So, I return the favor now. Sometimes I will even group with them so they get a bit more exp.

Of course if they are farting around farming containers so that I have to wait 3 or 4 minutes, I take the boss out and go on my way.

It doesn't matter to me. Bf and I are leveling two new characters - they're level 30ish, and in a public dungeon last night, two CP level players (180 & 220ish) asked us to stay and help beat one of the bosses. We stayed & helped. Everyone needs help at some point or another. Sometimes we will wait for a higher level player to come along if we need help on a boss. We don't tend to follow anyone around though, and people will sometimes follow us, but usually not for long, as we stop, look around, search everything. It blows our mind how people will run past everything and will miss a lot of stuff they can grab. I can't tell you how many chests we've come across with lots of good stuff in them just by stopping and looking around (everywhere - delves, while questing, etc.)

I started a new character two days ago, a stamwarden/bow with the bear tanking.

I've been in several delves and dungeons, trying to keep up with the CP going through there (especially multi-player dungeons). All this was between level 10-15.

So far, my experience has been not been real good, but I'll stop whining here lol.

I think I need to join a guild.

Anyway, those of you who have posted in this thread, thank you. Maybe some day we'll be in the same pug.

Personally, I really appreciated the help of an experienced player in a public dungeon I got left alone in. I made it a good ways in, and lost my group. I did ask for the help, which he/she gladly did, and I was able to complete the quest. Sometimes you need the help to complete certain quests. That's one of the things I love about this game, the interaction and helping, or getting help from other players.

I think its a little cute and sometimes annoying when a sub 50 or low cp just follows me throughout delves and public dungeons. I dont mind too much if they tag the boss, but if im grinding and theyre just "there" acting like im their bodyguard or something to that degree, i just stay behind them and watch what they do.

Its amusing the responses i get. they either wait for me to start rounding up mobs, some spam their light attacks at me to get something going, some get impatient and start attacking then dying rofl, some will try and group but i mostly decline those, ill get the odd message here and there telling me to kill.

I understand we were all noobs at one point and need some help but they have to understand that not everyone is gonna carry them willingly and they will have to learn to play their character. plenty of stuff on google and youtube and forums, dont be lazy, i hate players that refuse to help themselves.

I don't mind. The only problem in delves and public dungeons (including "group events" which are not enough even for a group of one :D ) the bosses die so quickly, that you have to deliberately NOT FINISH your rotation to let the low level guys tag it properly to receive a reward. Whenever I see someone following me (nowadays most low level chars are rerolls, I think, so they can do just fine, often getting 20-30k dps), I just apply my dots and block/shield. Regardless of their level. There is nothing more annoying than entering the boss chamber and seeing the boss dead after 3 seconds, before you could even approach and attack. On the other hand, I'm running delves and public dungeons nearly excusively on low level characters (skyshards, skill points from group events). Some way to scale, at least the boss fights, to the number of players present in the area, similar to dolmens, would really help with that.

I had a few guys help me with a vet dungeon yesterday and today I had a few low level players ask me to help them in the newer public dungeon, so I ran through it a few times with them. Sometimes you give help and sometimes you get it, if I see people close to death anywhere I throw a heal on them.

I was in the Old Orsinium public dungeon this evening (in Orc country) with my level 25 Warden.

There were about 5 different high-level players standing around getting ready to go in.

I asked if I could tag along since all I wanted was the skyshard.

    Well, the silence was deafening.

Good you don't need their permission to tag along, you just need to put enough damage for it to count :D.

BTW. They were not neccessarily being mean to you. I don't know about US megaserver, but on EU server there is a lot of players that can speak only their native language (two or three nationalities in particular).

They could also have been on voice chat, and either not reading or have turned off local and zone chat. I have 4 other friends who play, and if we all get on at the same time we'll often do a public dungeon because we need content that isn't limited to a total of 4 (stupid team size limits, sigh). We are using voice or sometimes team chat.

I've never had a problem with someone pairing up with me in a public dungeon or delve, and I do make some effort to see if anyone else is there before I start in on the boss. In the public dungeons I find some of them kind of challenging.

As one of the newbs, I want to thank the high rollers who let me follow them. I was doing all of the skyshards in Morrowind, and a few of them are in public dungeons. I'm a level 18, Warden Healer, and all I wanted was the shards and maybe some practice with the healing skills. I'd find a higher level player inside and follow along. I just hung back and healed as they did all the fighting. They may not even have noticed me, but I tried to help them out without getting in the way. By the end, some of them would wait for me to loot a chest or crate, before running on to the next area. I did find all of the shards I wanted, raised several of my healing abilities a few ranks and picked up a level. I also got some nice loot and a few achievements too.

One question though, do my actions interfere with them getting experience or skill ranks? I'm not trying to take away anything from the Veteran players, just working on my heals.

Not in any tangible way if there are more than a few of you around, if it's just you and another random person then forming a group has benefits, more than two people tagging does mean less for everyone but public dungeon kill and respawn times more than make up for it. Only thing I'd watch out for are boss loot timers, if there are more than one group rotating between bosses I'll skip a cycle or two and clear my bags so I get loot from the next boss killed.
