They would bother me were their opinions more than a whisper on the wind... like a fart in a hurricane.

That said, if someone offers play style advice in a dungeon in a way that's helpful and not elitist or demeaning, I'll take it under consideration.

I dont have issues people telling me emchanics and what tog et out from and how to deal with a mechanic or boss if i Fail...

but if someone dares tell me what ability should i use and how then call me names because im not runing that special build or something because OH HEAVENS FORBIT i give up a total of 10% dmg to make the char comfortable for me.... yeah go to you know where....

It's never happened to me, but that's probably because I already play the meta in PvE, or at least close. And if I PvP it's usually solo, so it doesn't effect anyone else.

If their success is dependent on your performance it's not unreasonable that they will point out things you could improve. Now if they're being aholes about it that's a completely different thing however.

No. Its my decision whether or not I'll follow their advice, but I'll listen to them. Maybe they would actually tell me something useful.

Group content/group pvp is, well, group effort. And if the person who pointed out that you were doing something wrong/not very efficient isnt outright rude, it might be better to take it into consideration.

It is my belief that most people that are accused of telling others how to play the game are actually giving suggestions on how to improve their characters for group content.

As this is an MMO, and there most definitely are ways to improve dps/healing/tanking based on tried and true builds/rotations that when you bring a hybrid build in and the healer (me usually) is pulling 40 to 45% of the DPS in the group then the DPS is clearly not built properly or does not understand their rotations.

For those that want to run a "fun" non-standard build, by all means please feel free to run all the solo content that way, but if you come into a dungeon and you're not pulling your weight there are going to be people that are going to try and help you with suggestions to improve.

If I'm tanking pug groups (not gunna happen, *** ever.) I have a 110% chance to get 3 people spamming bow light attacks in every dungeon I could possibly get with a 0% chancd of getting a single teamate that uses an ability. It is very possible that by the 3rd dungeon (normal dungeon) of spending 10 minutes per 500k hp boss I will start verbally abusing and berating my team and tell them how to play.

If I bring one of my dps toons in and adjust it to be self sustaining I'm usually very pleasant to get along with.

As far as other players are concerned, they're as entitled to their opinions as much as I am to mine. I do cringe when people start making crybaby nerf threads with no real reason and demand the game be changed to fit them specifically.

[For all you out there that constantly moan about not having enough tanks in the que, there's a damn good reason for it. Since morrowind I've actually grown to miss wreckingblow/snipe spammers]

no. I don't. unless they are telling me how to play the game solo (when I'm playing on my own, I will play any damn way i please, because my experiments have nothing to do with anyone else). when I'm grouping, especially with people who are more experienced than me, who know the game better, can perform better, who have bothered to take time out of their day to create and lead the group I'm joining? you bet your patootie i will expect them to tell me how to play the game in this context. now, it CAN go too far. but without specific context? no I don't hate when people are telling me how to play the game.

I honestly don't mind suggestions on how to play my character better. The ones that bother me are the ones that get all huffy and angry that someone isn't doing something they expect but then offer absolutely no assistance to help them do better.

for me so long as it is not a vet dungeon or trials I could care less if you are a healing tank hybrid so long as you have fun. Now if it is in those two instances then I would offer advice but would never try and force my views on how to play on people.
