Players can already buy the instant 1 day research scrolls for 400 crowns each. It's ridiculously expensive, though. I think it's somewhere in the ballpark of 231,000 crowns to level all research lines that way. That's over $1,000 US, even grabbing crowns on sale.Avran_Sylt wrote: »TBH, if you've got the money, but not the time, I don't have a problem with a player buying their traits.

the perfect research tool for the spoiled brat who want everything & wants it now because they are too impatient to put the smallest amount of effort in to anything but want all the rewards!

Gonna have to stop you there on that one mate. I've played this game for nearly a year, I'm close to being max cp but I am no where near getting all 9 traits. As of now it would take me a month to complete the last 3 in woodworking.. it will be more than likely another 3 or 4 months for the clothing and blacksmithing.
I think the problem here is that most people don't have all the time in the world to research traits they're likely never going to use. The only joke here is they'd prefer to introduce another 'crown store item' rather than improve the current system.

Meh. 9 trait isn't really a big deal anymore, and it hasn't been for over a year. There are thousands of players who have it, and it's not hard to find someone nice that will craft for new players for free or for optional tips. Just join a trade guild, ask in chat, and someone will get you that spiffy TBS set you want in under an hour.puffytheslayer wrote: »i know how long it takes to research items actually mate, because i have full 9 traits on 2 characters.

Research times have always been kind of an asinine game mechanic. What kind of effort does it take to log in once every week or two, buy some cheap research gear, start research, and then log off again? Sure it takes some consistency to do efficiently, but it mostly just takes *waiting*, which you can do while not even playing the game! This is supposed to be a game, not a gold watch you get for 15 years on the job.
And then there's the price of these scrolls. Over $1,000 to level all research lines instantaneously? I just don't see that many people taking that deal, and crown crates are liable to be even more craptastic of a deal.
I'm legitimately curious, when did being a master crafter have more value than now? With master writs, I'm making more gold off of crafting now than ever before. I don't even need to farm anymore.Being a master crafter lost its value.
That's a very good point. I wasn't too concerned about the status quo being upset by the insta-research scrolls, but patch day prices are always crazy whenever the *new* thing comes out. There definitely be dragons here. One day there will be new traits added to the game and crown items like this will give an inestimable advantage.
I want to be clear about something, because I was wrong about this and I've seen some posts here and on reddit that got this wrong too.silvereyes wrote: »Players can already buy the instant 1 day research scrolls for 400 crowns each. I'm really against this.
One day there will be new traits added to the game and crown items like this will give an inestimable advantage. People who buy and use a few of these scrolls will be the only ones using the new traits and making a fortune selling them to others for snail paced research (remember that master writ research scrolls reduce my a small amount and have a long cool-down).
I didn't like how the current research scrolls were slipped into the game, but giving them an affordable in-game master writ price made it slightly more palatable. These new scrolls are too powerful to have an accessible in-game equivalent, and I am against anything that is P2W.
I hope zos realise that the meagre income they get from these scrolls will cost them a lot of community goodwill. I believe many long term players will leave the game when P2W takes hold.
It's not so much a buy to win thing, although I guess it depends on one's definition of "win". It certainly doesn't unlock anything you can't buy from other players to provide a combat advantage.Mettaricana wrote: »I dont see an issue javing access to all traits doesnt make you god. Could buy all traits and insta research them all and still be a garbage player... not like it goves you anything but a bragging right and with crafted sets still forgotten every update not much for concern in terms of being pay to win

With the trait and mundus rebalancing this patch crafters might possibly be even more in demand for things like nirnhoned weapons and TBS armor.
Or do you mean it's less exclusive now? That is certainly true, but it's also inevitable as the game ages, no matter what ZOS marketing decides to throw into the mix.
I was hoping with the buff that it would finally be viable again, but alas: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/359916/mundus-trait-and-cp-optimisation-for-pve-damage-dealers/p1Anne_Firehawk wrote: »Nirn is absolutely poop next patch, same for TBS.
Granted, the difference between Nirnhoned and the BiS trait is much smaller this patch, but nobody's going to pay for Nirn unless it's BiS. Oh well.We see that in a solo scenario, Spinner is preferred due to the lack of penetration. Note that using the best mundus/trait combination Spinner is only 0.4% better than Julianos. In both group and solo situations, Destruction Mastery and Twice-Born Star are underperforming by 1.9 and 3.5% compared to Julianos, respectively.
We can examine the average trait behaviour for all mundus combinations to determine which trait is generally preferred. Sharpened is on average the most preferred trait followed by Infused for solo situations. In groups, Infused and Precise, in that order, are ideal. Sharpened clearly underperforms in group situations where a lot of armour debuffs are being applied. Note that Nirnhoned is always strictly worse than Infused. It provides 200 spell damage whereas Infused provides (up to) 278 spell damage.
