I seem to find better deals in remote Guild Traders. Has your experience been the same?

Here's what happened. I went on a shopping spree looking for specific set of items. I went to every single Guild Traders except for the one in Cold Harbour and in Thief Guild areas. I noticed that the lowest listings are always located in these remote areas with a single Guild Trader. Selection is definitely limited and also time consuming but when I do run into these deals they were a very pleasant surprise.

I don't shop a lot, and in fact I just only started shopping in the last few weeks for the first time so my experience with Guild Traders are limited. So, has your experience been the same?

This is how the fragmented guild system works. Nobody can control prices everywhere and it stays dynamic and interesting. Central hubs do have consistent prices. Sellers are experienced. Further away prices get more inconsistent - sometimes cheaper, sometimes more expensive.

I find that the flippers often only have access to the major hub traders, whether by DLC or lack of connecting wayshrine. So the remote traders are usually stocked with items with more reasonable with prices. But as soon as a new video is shared on the forums those prices tend to rocket up.

My best ever deals were from traders in remote places. Found a sharp spinners sword for 10k, but my best find was obviously from some guy who was probably on the cusp of binning the game. 4 dusts for 100g, 7 stacks of silk for 100g each, stacks of alloys for 100g each and other gold mats. You don't have all those items in those amounts and know nothing about pricing. This was on PS4 so the price of those items are considerably more than the equivalent items found on PC.

Was actually quite funny looking back. I had around 400g on my toon and there were 3 other players in the vicinity. My palms were sweating and my heart began beating fast whilst i called up the banker. Think I withdrew 500k just to be on the safe side. The 5k crowns I spent on the banker was worth every penny and more during and after those transactions. I'd have given up playing had I had to FT to a bank and came back to nothing.

I always start looking in the remote locations first. I only browse the big guilds in the best locations last as they tend to be more expensive considering the sales requirements they put on their members.

The Consistent places like Capital Cities, DLC areas, and OP Khajiit Moneypit all cost a lot more money due to consistent product, reliable zone, and predictable prices.

I like to think of it as a "You pay what you get for."

Problem is finding an out of the way trader with the item/s you want. A lot of the out of the way traders tend to have fewer members or fewer members selling, which means less stock, hence less income so they can only afford out of the way traders.

I am in one guild that is happy having an out of the way trader but my stuff hardly moves, so they keep asking members for donations at the end of each week as they never have any money to re-bid. My other guild is usually somewhere like Elden Root and stock flies out the door.

On a different note, a few months ago I gave in and finally joined a couple of trade guilds.

One in wayrest and the other in stormhold.

Selling the same farming mats for the same price.

Wayrest I sold within hours, often stormhold would take a few days.

After numerous occasions of me cancelling my stormhold sales to relist on my wayrest trader, and them sell within hours (and often before I've even left the bank) it became very apparent that location is everything, I've since left my stormhold trader and struggle to keep my wayrest one stocked.

This is on EU. And I sell much cheaper than mm prices.

Had I only joined stormhold I would have presumed that was normal.

That to me shows something very unfair about this trading system as unless your one of the very few to get a prime location, your not going to get close to their sales.

Remote guild sellers have to sell at lower prices since they see low traffic. Their members also don't have as much MM data, so their prices aren't accurate.

Use Tamriel Trade Centre to find the best deals. They have an in-game guild that scans every trader in the gane at least once a day.

Sometimes I find nice discounts at remote traders. People have already mentioned most of what I noticed.

It benefits a remote seller to give discount prices. Why would someone go out of their way to buy something you might have in stock if there's 3+ traders in a town that have the same prices?
By selling things at a lower price, you increase the likelihood that your guild becomes memorable. If you can manage to keep that trader each week, then you can hopefully have some of loyal customers that check you first.

On the other side, as someone said, sometimes people apparently have no idea what something is priced. There's been times when I found motifs and stuff insanely overpriced in guild stores.

And, hopefully you might even be getting "guildie prices". For one of my social guilds that don't have a trader, I tend to lower the prices for guildmates. But, if they ever decided to pick up an unused trader, I wouldn't bother dropping them and re-pricing them, so anyone that would find us would get the discount from me.

I do want to make a habit of being one of the "loyal customer" types and remembering guilds with good prices, though. I tend to feel bad when I don't remember the guild I bought from.

I rarely buy anything via this jacked up system that we have.

I would rather have fun playing and finding my own stuff than scouring hundreds of traders in psychotically remote locations searching for a specific item.

If there wasn't a loading screen every time I use a Wayshrine, I would probably use them more. However, it takes too long waiting on the game to make going out there worthwhile. One loading screen, to areas with 3-5 traders minus Stormhaven which seems to have almost nothing in their wares.

I see high and low in remote traders, but I bet the high don't sell there.

I am in a guild with a trader in Craglorn. In the past, I was in Wayrest and in the boondocks at the same time. When I was in a good and bad trader at the same time, I found I could sell items for a lot more in Wayrest than in the sticks and the Wayrest items would still sell much faster.

When it comes to rarer items, I'm not sure it matters because competition may be very low. At any point in time, there may be only one person selling the particular set piece you want, like when I traversed Tamriel for Footman pieces. There is no reason to sell for less just because your location is bad if you are selling something that isn't everywhere.

I really enjoy the color plotting by guild of sale prices in one of that addons. Very enlightening if you have multiple trade guilds is different locations.

Well, these left over made me rich over the weekend. I shopped a bit more and found two things on sale just for 500g/5000g respectively, but worth tens/hundreds of thousands respectively. I couldn't believe it. I had to double/triple check to make sure they are the right stats, right level, and right names.
