Actually on stamina user You get get similar or sometimes higher DPS with 2 hander then with dual wield and on magicka DPS staffs are dominating. You want to buff something that is already strong enough.

This - people advocating for 2h to count as two set items are neglecting to account for the higher dps inherent to 2h weapons.

I think a cooler solution would be more weapons that have a unique effect just by themselves, much like the master weapons, but also craftable weapons with a unique "1-piece" (or 2-piece bonus for DW or S/B) effect, but not part of any existing 3-piece or 5-piece sets
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

The problem is that the classes / builds that are all doing the most dps currently use staves (at least on live - Horns updates might overturn this).

So yeah, in terms of "fairness" it's a bit messed up that anybody with a 2H can't have 2 5pc bonuses and a monster set, but in terms of numerical dps balancing, it's actually better this way.

Personally, I wish they'd tone down the dps from staff users and 2H wep users and make them count as 2 pieces just so that everyone can have 12 set pieces and it's all equal in terms of set bonus opportunities, but that's just the OCD coming out I think.

So nerf 2h weapons base damage?

Bow certainly isn't pulling the numbers of staff, 2h sword or DW as far as I know what's the excuse for the missing set bonus there?

As far as the weapon damage thing goes? DW line get a passive damage buff that basically puts them on par with 2h (6% of offhand weapons damage added to weapon damage) + they get 2 set pieces.

The fact this is still a discussion is bizarre.

Make all weapons do approximately the same base damage.
Make all weapons from the two handed, bow, destro and resto skill lines count as 2 pieces of a set.
Keep one handed weapons and shields the same.

    Fixed.

Two handed is not king....in pve OR pvp. You never see a player using two handed in top end trials. And if you want to build the most burst in pvp for stam toons you either use two handed or bow on your BACK bar...for the buffs. For two handed you use it for your rally, and bow you use it for poison injection.

Of course many players dont use DW because they want to use two hander and bow for range skills and melee skills while still having the rally and execute. Youd still have the same setbacks for each weapon type you choose to use.

For stamina builds you would still get the highest damage from DW. Its the same for magic toons though, you still get higher damage for DW if ur playing templar.

All this would do is lower the gap between damage with DW and two hander. If anything just buff the DW skills damage to compensate, while slightly nerfing staves damage. That way magic toons arent better DPS choosing DW, but have more DPS than now with sticks. And stamina toons would still have good damage with DW over the other two weapons.

DW was always supposed to give higher damage than two hander and bow, which is why they get such great buffs over DW.

The only duels against stamina players i lose are duels against tanky WWs and DW toons...just so much [snip] damage...would be nice for a two handed toon to make my butthole pucker again

All 2-handed weapons, meaning bows, 2-hand swords/axes/mauls, and staves need to be considered 2 pieces of a set. Wasn't there some official post about that??

By this derp logic, we should get jewelry for both hands because we have 2 hands.

I've actually been considering posting something about circlets being a 4th jewelry piece. They were present in Skyrim.

@Sigtric if you want balance then that's the way forward.

PvP wise 2h and destro seem to be BiS.
PvE DW and Destro seem to be BiS.

If you want a fair representation of what should do the most damage consistently it's DW because you're not at a safe distance and you don't have any defense. It's pure maximised killing potential. High damage. Low survivability. There should be a tradeoff.

Meanwhile you can pretty much deal incredibly high DPS from a safe distance with a destro staff.

But I mean never mind any of the logic or fairness at all...let's all just run destro staffs and proc sets and melt everyone because there's already so much diversity in this game...

The only way you're gonna see diversity is by making things not suck. Bow sucks. Not having 2 set slots for a 2h weapon sucks. A lot of abilities and craft sets and weapons suck.

The way it is now DPS use 2 skill lines depending on situation.

    PvE is DW and Destro.

    2h and Destro in PvP.

I'm not saying change how classes play or give everyone standardised damage. If I wanted full homogenization we'd have 1 class and 1 weapon and there'd be no passives and we'd all only be able to move and light attack.

What I am saying is this, there needs to be less of a performance gap between weapons. Double slot weapons need to count as 2 set slots. 2h and Bow need a PvE buff.

TL;DR buff/nerf some weapons for balance upon giving double slot weapons a 2 pc set bonus so as to increase weapon/build diversity.

That wouldn't be so bad, I could get behind that. I just think 2 handed weapons are one weapon and only deserve one enchantment/set piece.

Dual wield is a standard set in stone. Everyone uses it because it is superior.. and it's mostly because you can equip 2 full sets + 1 monster set. Change so that two-handed weapons gives 2 set bonuses and not 1 to even it out between builds. Where is the common sense that this game should have?

I've been asking for this for awhile now. Outside of fixing this lag (which is starting to get bad for me again) this is probably the number one change I would like to see happen. It''s annoying having to choose between two five set bonuses or a monster set. Especially now with the recent changes to sustain, because giving up my staff isn't feasible.

It seems necessary to explain one point clearly

    aSUk5a3.png

Each weapon has advantages and disadvantages. The fact that any two-handed weapon covers one part of sets is disadvantage. This creates a balance that still exists.

I was under the impression that dual wielding was capable of competitive damage when compared to a two-handed weapon. I have spoken to some players who say it even does more damage.

It would ruin the balance between weapons and their functions.

And 2h weapons are one piece of gear. Not two. You can have everything just because.

Old argument is old. It is one piece of gear, but twice the size, twice the power on the enchantment, takes up 2 spots. I don't care either way, it would be cool, but stop with this single item argument.

The day 2 handers give two set bonus will be the day stam builds completely die..

Mages already dominate trials with 2h on both bars you want them to become stronger?

Dw is a the best thing stam builds got because you can have 2 face pc and a monster set which gives a lot of dps.
