PTS 3.1.0 Impen vs other armor traits...

You know how ZOs changed up the weapon traits in such a way that sharp is now not the BIS for dps (PVP and PVE). Meaning lets say before you use to run Sharp and Thief mundus... now if you get a precise weapon all you need to do is change you mundus to Lover and you will end up with relatively similar penetration and crit chance.

For armor traits. it still looks like the BIS for PVP is Impen while best for PVE is divines. I wonder if ZOS will adjust the armor traits as well. so that at the end of the day if you don't have the right traits you want you still can build you character such that you achieve you goal crit resist and other parameters.....

Been farming ROM for ages now.. RNG banned me from getting impen gloves, chest and belt.

It's a little weird that armor traits have gotten nothing...maybe it's coming. Still weeks to go on PTS.

We run sharpend to the time as it was only 16% pen. What should be better in pvp? For pve, there are options now, but rhe goal will still to reach the pen cap.
PVP Saint-Bud magicka Templar: AR 49
PVE Lord Victarion mDK : dro'm-Athra-Destroyer pre Morrowind retired for crafting
PVE Ramsay-Bolton magicka NB: Voice of Reason Clockwork City Patch retired
VAA hm/ VHRC hm/ VSO hm/ VMOL hm/ VHOF hm/ VAS hm clear

Stop playing PVE because its boring, content not disigned for melee players and class balance and sustain is ***

In my opinion, players are way too tanky these days. It feels like there's a war on damage lately. It'd be nice to see impen toned down.

Problem is, they would have to revamp crits in general.
I don't think there are many games where people can reach 100% crit chance and similiar weird numbers.

I can definitely see where you're coming from, Impen is clearly the go to choice for PVP. But at least most of the armor traits are decent. Some shieldstacking sorcs may go infused for more max magicka, gankers may go divines for bigger shadow buff, rolly-polly builds will go well fitted, tanks will go sturdy, etc. Plus many will mix and match - e.g. a lot of stam users may have 5 impen and 2 well fitted to dodge roll more. Reinforced and Nirnhoned could definitely use some rebalancing with impen though. But the situation isn't nearly as bad as it was for weapon traits where sharpened was basically BiS for every single possible situation in the game. Most of the armor traits at least get used and buffing them more could lead to OP builds (perma block if sturdy is buffed, infinite dodgeroll if well fitted is buffed, etc). I suppose ZOS could consider a nerf to the impen's value to make it less desirable than it is now but I hope they don't.

Would require some big changes people would not like, because I dont think anything short of pretty big nerf to Impen would make other traits attractive.

Or maybe there is another way. Change the resist gained from impen so it is affected by small/big pieces. But all added together stay same as now. Could make other stuff like sturdy, well fitted, new prosperous or even divines more appealing for small pieces.

(Just realized that would break the whole mechanic where all traits are equal on all pieces... but maybe thats what armor traits need)

No the goal will no be to reach penetration cap, the goal will be to find a decent balance between your penetration value and your other stats.
