Clickbait- Possible Future Changes to Combat

With the recent changes made to CP and the Warden class being around for about a month now, I cant help but think what future changes ZoS had in mind to keep the game flavorful in the coming years.

The new monster helms on paper don't look so impressive and, in my opinion, they can only make but so many five piece sets that people would regularly use unless they go for meta changing gear with each update (not good).

What I am trying to get at is that the game really lacks any flavor and you could easily get away with running the same set up on multiple classes and expect similar results. Also the best weapons are what is optimal for every class as well. For example, out in any dungeon as a stam char, what is best to run is DW/Bow. And in PvP, as a stam char you almost always need a 2H somewhere on your bar to be dominant and This is with every class. This is coming from a guy with 5 stam dps who noticed this trend and how bad it could be for the game.

So, what do you think ZoS can and will do in the future?
-I was surprised when the Warden was announced just like everyone else. Perhaps releasing new classes in the future may keep things fresh and exciting.
-Some people have suggested new weapon lines, which would be cool since we never see any new skills added at all of any kind to keep combat fresh and exciting.
-What I've seen in other MMOs and what could possibly work well with ESO as well is the idea of dual classing. Essentially having two classes, the second you can unlock at a certain level and by doing so certain skills are enhanced at some are replaced with hybrid skills. I really like the idea of this.
-Also, last idea, I like the idea of class awakenings. This idea comes from BDO, Zenimax maybe change the name for us ESO players lol. At a certain level or CP level, classes have special 'morphs' to certain skill weapon skill lines, bringing in even more variety to the combat system.

I apologize for this idea-dump, but I suppose that is what the forums are for right? As an ESO player since launch, I can say there have been several months where I haven't played simply because I was burned out simply because the combat lacked a lot of variety and the day to day repitiveness of the game also would push me away. But, I would like to know What the community thinks. Do you all like my ideas? Do you have any of your own? Please share.

I think at some point they're going to have to do a big clean up of the systems we use.

Right now we have the following progression systems for character power.
    • Base Level
    • CP level
    • Gear Level (tied to Base/CP level)
    • Gear Quality
The CP system has basically made base level meaningless and gear levels C10-C160 are so pointless and cleared so fast they might as well be removed.

It's a messy and clunky system that's come from a lot of bolt ons and changes and I still don't really understand what the progression area is any more. I do wish they could find a way to do a pass and clean it up so we have one progression system which takes investment but isn't a PITA.

    One question-what does PITA mean?

Also yes, I agree there should only be one set of of 50 gear but this has been this way only because the price of rubedite, ancient silk, and rubedo leather was so high at one point, I know the community would have rioted when Champion levels were removed if ZoS replaced all vr1-16 gear with just level 50 gear. I believe the price has gone down significantly since then and therefore those changes can be made.

I can't help but think of new players in this situation- they go through levels 1-50 only to hit another brick wall that is cp 10-160 and all the gear changes that go along during this time. Not to mention most trial groups still don't want to run with you once you hit the 160 mark.

I agree that levels are pretty meaningless. At the pace your are currently leveling a character most materials become obsolete too quickly. Leveling 1-50 it sometimes seem better to just craft a set every 10-15 levels or so (Except for weapons maybe), or don't bother at all and just use whatever drops.

Keeping your gear up to date from early on to CP160 is pretty useless, there's no point farming sets before 160, because you will toss them when you reach max level.

I guess they can't just toss away materials altogether, but maybe they could change them to have certain effects, some more durable than others, some lightweight, some cheaper, some with bounuses, like penetration, can hold bigger enchantments, etc etc.

A steel sword could be just as powerful as a rubedite one, but have a different bonus. That way you could pick materials to fit your build, rather than something that only matches your current level.

This is an interesting take. That way you have 2 ways to make equipment more personalized and unique. They could also adjust the way we find materials, making ruby wood/ore/cloth extremely rare, throwing the prices up really high again. In this way, the nodes would have a chance to be one of 9 (?) different types of ore.

Alternatively, the ore might be located based on zone. For instance, nightwood, ore, cloth could be found in cold harbour. Ruby ash, ore, cloth could be found in Cyrodiil (increasing risk of farming for it). etc...
