To my regret, it appears that Morrowind was bad for the game's community.

From talking to people in game on Xbox most are just waiting for another game to come out .They only still play ESO because there nothing else for them to play on Xbox. When a new game drop most are planning on leaving because ZOS just ruined the game.ZOS has ruined MMO for people and its sad

Too bad my content filter is blocking your memes. Seriously, bro, it's a game. Why do you get your jimmies tussled at someone pointing out it's problems? I mean I get it it, to some people MMOs are srs bsns and should never be questioned for fear of the forum avenger, but if people aren't having fun or dismayed at seeing their friends list disappear who are you to tell them to shut up?

I don't really, I just like to give the people that whine about "expansion or DLC" a hard time, because that's what it is - whining. To me, getting BG and a new class on top of a new zone is not a DLC. As much as you get with this game for the cost of one lunch per month is staggering, and yet people still complain about not getting enough free ***.

ESO has no real competition in the market so can pretty much do as they want, as soon as some of the other mmo's drop that is when they will wish they listened to there playerbase.

Having been a long-term ESO+ subscriber, I had absolutely NO problems with them charging extra for Morrowind... and even bought both the Digital Upgrade and physical collector's versions; the statue is pretty sweet! While I was disappointed with their heavy-handed resource nerf, with the next patch some of that should improve, although I still think they need to make every rely less on boring heavy attacks for sustain... perhaps adding some resource return to light attacks as well. Even so, I'm still enjoying the game and I believe I will continue to do so.

With that very high price of Morrowind ZOS should have delivered a real expansion. But they ended up making a short-lived DLC. I have started to search something else because i don't believe they actively develop this game any more. ZOS just took the money and ran. So be it.

There were expansions like Morrowind and you paid for them

You want to complain about pay walls, or think Morrowind is one go play Star Wars The Old Republic. You can't even put on epic gear unless you sub. You can only do like 1 or 2 PvE dungeons a day if you don't sub. You can have 3 crafting/gathering skills if you sub, but only 1 if you don't sub. Subs get I believe 5 or 6 crew members..you get 2 I believe if you don't sub even if you do the quest/story to get them they are just locked unless you sub.

Morrowind was an expansion, get over it and stop saying you were ripped off or ZoS double dipped.

This isn't true at all.You can do flashpoint even if your not sub.Flashpoint are that game version of a Dungeon. You also don't have to be sub to put on purple gear.

Honestly if what doomsayers said was true, then why are they still here? This can only mean one of three things.

Either one, what they said has truth to it but the positives of the game are enough to overlook the negatives, hence still here.

Two, they're exaggerating things//blowing off steam which means things aren't as bad as they say in the first place.

Or three, they're right, it does outweigh the good, and they lack the conviction to leave for some odd reason (seems improbable to me but hey I guess we can't all be "I play games for fun and stop playing when I stop having fun" people)

QFT. Seriously people, if you're not having fun, why are you still playing? You do realize there are OTHER games out there right?

Well TBH I see no real reason to be sad:

    1) The resource management change was necessary because it had become trivial as everyone was able to spam skills as fast as they could mash buttons, while running with the minimum possible recovery. Now all it takes is 1-2 heavy attacks in the rotation to achieve the same, if not higher DPS and manage resources just fine.

    2) The CP loading is also beneficial because now you actually need to think, not just click 100x on a star, 100x on another and be done with it; that was silly. The only CP system problem is actually the tool tip, because it doesn't tell you the digits don't matter.

    3) The upcoming weapon trait and mundus stone changes are also good, since at least 3/9 traits will become quite viable, in stead of just 1 and now at least half of the mundus buffs were viable, instead of just 3-4. The prosperous change is neutral, since 75-80 recovery per full set on all 3 stats is negligible at best.

In short the game moves more towards rewarding people who actually spend time tweaking their builds and rotations instead of just copying one famous player or another, without actually understanding, while mindlessly farming the same content to get that supposedly "BiS" piece. The same players are the ones complaining because they have to make some minor adjustments to gear and playstyle.

Using the brain consumes resources and actually hurts after long periods of idleness.

Well, I've playing since sept '15 on XBox EU, and I am still having fun.

As long as you don't take your experience seriously, and don't play overly competitively (can do a little I guess. I have leaderboards turned off, and have never even looked at them.), then this game can be a lot of fun.

Overland Questing, crafting, exploration, light fun dungeon runs - they can all be very fun.

I am completing cadwells gold on my Khajiit stamblade, and my god, its SO much fun. I have no idea what her DPS is, and frankly, don't care.

I might take her into a normal dungeon or two, but it will only be to get the quest done and get the lorebooks. Stamblades in a dungeon are pretty much a liability as they cannot do extended fights unless the healer stays on them constantly.

If you don't play to compete, and just want to quest, be part of the storyline, and generally explore then this game is fun.

ZOZ have only just gotten the game to the state in which they wanted to release it. Not sure if anyone is aware of that. Reading Glassdoor yesterday, its made me realise that Matt actually has the team now that he was after for such a long time, and it took until the beginning of 2017 to achieve that.

Technically, inside ZOS, the game was in a Beta state right up until One Tamriel released.

There is a very interesting interview done in January of this year about ESO and how it took them 2 full years after the release of the game to actually get back on track and really get into development properly. Its why the balance changes are only now beginning to really come around, as before they were done as "quick fixes", and not really thought through properly due to the other stuff that was more important to them.

The game was behind schedule for such a long time due to the work effort being concentrated into One Tamriel. Its why they held back the big DLC's such as Morrowind until after it was done. They did originally plan to hold back Orsinium until after 1T, but realised it would leave a content gap, and pushed it despite knowing that they would have to revisit and retool it.

Thsi game has become more about its large casual playerbase who maybe don't care about forking out real money on the game for features occasionally, because, well, they have fun with them.

The 1% of serious competitive raiders are just well....the 1%. Thats the truth of it. 90% of the playerbase are by and large casuals who never come to these forums, and play in a non serious way and don't worry about gear or DPS or anything like that.

They cater to the PvP base a little more because they account for about 10-20% of the playerbase, so their voices need to be heard a little more.

ZoS has admitted to killing off Twisting Path. Here's the proof:
    ZOS_KNowak wrote: »
Twisting Path was never intended to be a "direct damage" attack - it should be considered a "damage over time" attack (much like other area of effect ticking abilities such as Wall of Elements or Ash Cloud). This first PTS build has a partial fix to its behavior, and a later PTS build will have the full fix for it (and the accompanying patch note).

We are also investigating better ways to communicate what is a "direct damage" attack versus a "damage over time" attack (along with other tooltip terms such as "melee" attack), so that it is more clear how certain Item Set procs interact with certain abilities.

Goodbye magicka Nightblades. The life support from Scathing Mage was sufficient while it lasted, lol. With the destruction of sustain to struggling classes like DK and Templar, along with the ridiculously weak nature of Warden's DPS, ZoS' message is quite clear to the rest of the community: "GO SORC OR GTFO"

Actually, that's kinda the point of the thread. People ARE leaving for other games. Wouldn't it be better if they didn't feel they had a reason to? Wouldn't it be better if there was a place for unhappy players to say why they aren't happy? A place like the official forums? But white knight doesn't approve. All must agree with white knight or GTFO. You people are worse than the "whiners".

That pissed people off when they broke the deal. I know 4 people who canceled out of the gate and I was able to convince another 3 people in my guild to do so as well.

Except they didn't say that. They said we get access to downloadable content available in the crown store. Most just assumed all content would be available in the crown store. Crap move on the part of ZOS not being more clear but still we were not promised 100% of the downloadable content.

Here, before you post again, read through the articles linked below. That's only a tiny fraction of what ZoS has said over time, but more than enough for this topic.

"What to expect from Elder Scrolls Online expansions

We're doing the kinds of things that with other games you'd associate with DLC - for us it would be, if you're subscribing to the game you'll get it [as part of the package]. Here's another high-end zone, here's another guild, adding significant story elements as well as new weapon types.

We recently planned out one of the first ten updates we're going to be doing, and honestly these are subject to change as the game comes out and evolves, but each of them is kind of a story package, like the key thing we're adding is this, and here's all the stuff that we're going to do to support that."

Grammatically, the word "these" refers to the 10 updates. In other words, he's saying the content they planned out might change. There is no relevance to the subscription model...

bought it to support ZEB and Lawrence, but I can't say I enjoy it at all.

I fish, I craft, I have 10 characters I use, I quest, I do vet group dungeons, I do trials, I fix up my houses, I PvP, I sometimes chase achievements, I do the holiday events. I don't see myself leaving any time soon. Others will feel differently. That's fine, it's their choice.

I had a bad taste in my mouth from Morrowind at first and was really disappointed with the changes at first. I'm still not too jazzed about the way they were done and I don't really agree with a bunch of huge changes all at once. With that being said though, suddenly needing to take into account my resources forced me to hone my rotations and really pay attention to things better like attack duration and cost. Since then my DPS is way better than before and I'm a much stronger player than I ever was before. I'm actually kind of excited about the new update coming which is an odd feeling for me when it comes to Zos. We're going to get a little bit closer to actual balance, they appear to have payed attention to their community, and we're going to get better diversity of options as far as gear/traits/mundus goes. Everyone that really likes this game has been stomped on a bit here and there but I think we recognize the potential here. Yes, Zos needs to hurry up and realize that potential properly too, but it seems like maybe they're getting there and maybe, just maybe, we'll get that game we've been wanting

Indeed. The criticisms that are made of changes in the way ZOS do things clearly come from people whose every utterance no matter how trivial or provisional is intended by them to be to be taken as a sworn and binding promise, and who never, ever, under any circumstances change their thinking over anything in life, not even if they are running a business in a changing market. At least, those are the standards they apply to ZOS and so I can only assume they are the standards they apply to themselves too.

Let's not even talk about Morrowind being purchased as a separate game but doesn't account share. I wish I hadn't purchased it. The content is simply not worth shelling out an additional $40 or not playing with my fiance who was going to pick eso up again until we discovered Morrowind doesn't account share.

    Trial guilds seem to disappearing.

Battlegrounds are a disaster due to queuing issues, terrible game balance, the lack of a CP mode, and the inability to choose game type.

Then it seems that with each update everyone needs to change their gear which means it's time to farm for gear again.

And with this game's terrible RNG, it seems that's what people spend the majority of their time doing; farming.

It really isn't enjoyable spending days of your life trying to get a particular piece of gear with a specific trait.

And the people that have left the game say things along the lines of "it feels nice to actually play a game again and have fun"

Zenimax, I believe you're killing your own game. You're forcing people to play the way you want them to, and in the end it's going to cause people to seek other video games.

Damage is done, ZOS screwed over their own players too many times and with the complete incompetence not being able to fix their own game for months or years added to it their attitude and lack of communication or shall I say what little they communicate is pretty much lies or "no eta"....

Yeah they screwed up too much to recover now. They will milk ESO dry, the end.

I am honestly surprised you got 40 likes.

in fact, I think the FORUM population has dwindled as new players trying out the game for the first time dont generally hop on the forums.

ESO is still a high populated bustling environment.

Trials guilds arent dying off. New ones are being created every day. just about everyone in Wayrest has the vMoL dromathra skin. Guilds are clearing some of the hardest content in the game and just because youve never heard of them doesnt mean they dont exist.

PvP is STILL booming. there is one 7 day campaign that doesnt get a lot of attention but the fact that the one 30 day cp enabled campaign is bursting at the seams tells me the 7 day campaign NEEDS to be used, but the players refuse - NOT zos' fault.

Morrowind was an awesome update and one i'd pay full price for again. BGs were a bust but this is a marathon, not a 100 meter dash. Lets hope ZOS does the right thing on that.

Divines is still BiS for PvE gear - coupled with the IMPROVED Lover Mundus and precise weapons, youll be fine.

Impen and Sharpened are still BiS for PvP.

Like this is TYPICAL gloom and doom. TYPICAL its not even original anymore. There was doom and gloom with the sustain changes, but that turned out fine. Stam dps is still fine. DPS is hitting 50k FINE.

Everything is fine and the game is business as usual. now with MORE build diversity which is exactly what the devs promised. You sir, are the boy who cried wolf without anything but your opinion to sustain your bias agenda driven perception.

In fact because of what i just said here, every single one of you OWE zos the benefit of the doubt at this point. every. single. one. of. you.

... just as you said " just about everyone in Wayrest has the vMoL dromathra skin"

EXACTLY MY POINT HOW MANY OF THOSE ARE CP 90 ? how many of those have cheated their way of earning that ? and HOW MANY of those have been banned?

let me answer that for you .. NONE have been banned !! and nearly every day i always see low CP players with Dromathra skin and titles ..but no..everything is awesome right..?
