Everything decided by your level?

As a returning player I have now found that I cannot go to different zones to explore for crafting resources. You just loot what your level decides. Every action is decided purely on your level. I find this so generically tedious, it has sucked any fun and interest out of the game for me. There seems no progression other than finding your next CP point adds 0.0023% to your butt ache resistance score. Has become so bland. My return hasn't lasted long.

So, funny thing about that. CP only applies an effect if it clears a full percentage point. No wonder you're so salty, you've been pouring CP into a stat that doesn't exist, can't help you, and isn't needed. But, I'm sure we're all enriched by your desire to go back to Stros M'kai and farm out all the iron.

It gives you so much freedom. No need to travel to this corner of the map with low level mobs that don't give you any loot or experience. Any map is viable. Unless you want nirnstuffs, only one map for that.

This change in particular is not going to be reverted back to what it was before, so yes, adapt or move on.

Gosh, you're right. Let's go ahead and completely overhaul the whole game again. What a realistic expectation.

This is not going to change. This is not some small feature we're talking about here.

I find the opposite. I tend to out level areas fairly quickly, but I stay until I'm done with that area. By the old system, I wouldn't be getting the crafting mats I need until well past the time I could use them, which constantly put me behind.

I much, much prefer it the way it is now.

Because they'd never change the way the world functions or characters develop based on feedback over an extended period. /s

Nothing can be improved upon without people pointing out flaws in the current system and the devs acting on them. Don't just roll over and accept the cons as permanent features.

Who said anything about an overhaul or that it was an expectation I had? All I'm saying is that it's entirely feasible for them to keep the One Tamriel philosophy and still give players the sensation that they're progressing. It's just a matter of finding that balance. No need for the hyperbole.

OP you should be finding half the mats at your character level and half the mats at your crafting level.

So you do have control over what you find.

Also, if you do writs, you get a random box with materials that are below your crafting level.

Actually, the quality of mats you find has nothing to do with your character level and everything to do with how many points you spent (or not) in the related crafting lines.

That's incorrect. As soon as I hit 26 I started seeing Orichalcum Ore out Stonefalls, and I had yet to put any points into blacksmithing. Because sets.

Idk. I'm sitting on plenty of low level matts for armor and weapons. We get them through writs now and they just add up. Glad the crafting bag is virtually bottomless.

Yes, but you still get the "old" mats that match your crafting points spent. And for me, it's more like 70/30.
Either way, you can still get the lower level mats that way.

As far as crafting, resource nodes should spawn 50% based on your crafting level and 50% based on character level. You should still be able to find lower level crafting mats based on your crafting skill. On my warden, I'm still getting a mix of dwarven ore (character level) and quicksilver ore (Crafting level) when I'm out farming. You can do the crafting dailies to get a "resource" bag of lower level mats. I have no issue maintaining an inventory of lower level mats. If I create an alt, I just gather with him while I'm leveling to get anything that's needed to craft items for him.
