The difference between a chapter and DLC

ESO has added content to the Morrowind Chapter/expansion. I do not recall any content being added to the base game or to any DLC since the business model originally changed over 2 years ago.

There is no difference. It was a blatant money grab. Wrothgar has way more content and use than morrowwind. I want my money back. Morrowwind was a bad joke and battle grounds don't even work.

There are two opinions on this.

    1) There isn't a difference and ZOS was trying to charge ESO+ subscribers for new content even though they were promised this wouldn't happen by exploiting loopholes

    2) The scale of content added, present and future, sets it apart from regular DLC and thus qualifies it as an "expansion", which would not be covered under the no-charge-for-future-DLC policy for ESO+ subs

I don't have an opinion on this really. I sub for craftbag and outfit dyes and not for DLC access, which is cheaper to buy anyway.
As it is, I never expect future content to be free and am happy when it is. Less disappointment this way.

I don't understand the point of this thread or your 'logic'. ZOS have added content to both the base game and DLC.

Also a Chapter is just another name for a DLC ZOS want subscribers to pay for.

It's not a non-answer. Literally so much content has been added to the base game I am certainly not going to attempt to list it all for you. I know this first hand since I have been playing continuously since beta. The link I provided will suffice to educate you if you are genuinely interested.

Nothing has been added to the base game since DLCs were added. Change yes, but no meaningful content. Housing is not content for sure. Rescaling the existing dungeons is not new content. Changes to skills is most certainly not new content.

If you could have come up with some sort of actual new content they added to the base game you would have provided more than a lame link.

Well, unless you set an extremely low bar for what you consider content. Nerfs and buffs to skills maybe.

the only differance I can see between wrothgar and Vanderfell is the addition of a new class (that and a new toutorial area but.. thats not really worth discussing) if ESO defines each CHAPTER by putting out a new class, I'll let it be

I would argue that the bar you set to consider new Morrowind content is equally low.

Taking your one example, the housing update was additional base game content in which 39 unique player homes were added, some of which were obtained through new quests - player housing having never been in the game before - with more than 2000 furnishing items, including target dummies, furniture crafting, 4 new motifs, achievements and titles, and the introduction of master writs and a new currency.

If you don't call that 'content' then really I have no idea what you're on about mate.

I could go on and on and on but really what's the point? The whole thread is a waste of time. Cheers.

And now business model has been changed again.
I think if they will add some new region in the future it will be a chapter. Future DLC's will include only dungeons and some other small content.

Both were base game, neither cost money to gain access.

What content has Zos added to the base game?

What new content have they added to Morrowind?

They added a Battlegrounds map, but that has nothing to do with the actual explorable PvE zone. It was a necessity given how barebones BGs was at launch.

And as discussed on here ad nauseam, BGs and Vvardenfell could have been released as two separate DLCs.

Morrowind is much bigger in everything than Orsinium, it's the best thing that was ever added in a game for me.

Orsinium has more content and it takes longer to complete. Even vMA took longer to complete than vHoF lol...

Which realllly irks me. They need to be AT LEAST the same size/scope as DB and TG!

Cash aside, the difference may become more apparent with future updates. Looks like they plan on building upon the Chapter, see for instance the new BG coming with the next DLC. There are also posts suggesting that more Morrowind-related content lies in waiting, which, if true, would be gated as well.

Not really content. As I stated earlier you obviously have an extremely low bar for what you consider content.

Adding a new BG and new map for it is like adding a dungeon.

You killed the point you were trying to make with that second sentence. *sigh* The base game did get content updates, but it doesn't matter. What's important is that DLC didn't. What you buy on release day is what you'll always have (barring small additions like new motifs). Not so with Morrowind. However, this content update was only for PvPers, which leaves a massive group of Morrowind buyers with no new content they'll actually notice, so I wouldn't be excited just yet.

It's still a DLC. Everything they add to Morrowind now is stuff that should've been added in the first place.
In order for me to call this a Chapter/Expansion, these conditions must be met:
    • People stop complaining about BG's (or close enough), confirming that BG is fixed and working as hoped.
    • At least 2 extra zones added (around the size of Wrothgar/Vvardenfell or greater), and each new zone must have:
      • Main and side quests
      • Delves, public/group drungeons
      • Zone-specific Sets for all armor types
      • New houses and furniture, fitting those regions
    • And if possible, free the Warden from the expansion, allowing players to unlock it with Crowns or only buy the class, or any other way. This is only to bribe me into calling Morrowind a new Chapter / expansion.
