I am currently completing the vma, but stuck on the 6th level. Want to do something different, like dungeons or BGs.

✭✭Hopping from an interior instance to another interior instance (or Cyrodiil) puts you to your last external location once your business is finished.
Maelstrom progress is saved though, so unless you're ever trying to go for a score or flawless, there's nothing to worry about.
