No. I also play FFXIV. I like to play this and that because they are 2 different types of MMO's. I've spent more time on FFXIV the past 2 weeks because I leveled a brand new character on a new server to max level and am starting to gear him for raids.
However, I HATE FF(the series in general). No, I'm not crazy, but I could care less about the stories and the lore and all that. (also Cloud Strife is the most cringe-worthy character ever and I'm aware he has nothing to do with 14, which is why I play that). I do like 12, though, but that isn't what this topic is about.
In ESO I raid and I really enjoy the story and side quests so I do not skip anything. FFXIV, I skipped EVERYTHING. I just think the game is fun and It either that or WoW and no thanks on WoW.

I always dabble and check out other games, but ESO is definitely my home and has been for the last couple years. Funny you should mention FFXIV. After all the hype, I bit on Stormblood a few days ago (and quit after beating the EX fights and saying "why am I doing this again?"). The thing about that series is that it sticks so strictly to the WoW template and to character templates that there is absolutely no sense of individuality in builds or characters at all. That's why people in the game say: "glamor is the real endgame". Everyone uses the same skills, same rotations, same movements, even, in a fight. I hate that no matter how good I can be--reflexively, build-wise--I can't pull too much above my weight.
ESO is much more forgiving (and at the same time punishing) when it comes to group activities and incorporating varying degrees of skill. As a tank I can carry and sustain through a vet dungeon fight--even the SoTH bosses--to reverse the tide of failure and resurrect, finish off the boss myself, whatever. FFXIV relies entirely on group support and composition and as soon as the healer falls, the rest go like dominos. Your own skill and knowledge won't save you, it's just over. I saw this repeatedly in Susano EX and Lakshimi EX clears and it was frustrating as Hell.
The only thing ESO needs to take from that game are it's social tools, which are top notch. Oh, and the Stormblood story was absolute rubbish. I have no idea why the critics lauded it. Characters were uneven, plot was just drawn out and bad. Why does every game need some magical, Jesus-figure blonde waifu, too? We get Lyse in this, and had bloody Minflilla for like years before her. Content wise, it's the exact same drip and tome-grind as the last expansion, and yet all was given a pass.
Grade A dissapoitment. Although, my gripes with Stormblood have reinvigorated my love for ESO and TSW: two games that steer from the standard theme-park formula with fresh combat systems and ideas.
