That's the only way the 5 piece bonus is worth a damn, then it might actually be worth using.

What happens if I use Mist Form, Forward Momentum, or Extended Ritual while under the effects of this set? Major Protection minus the snare?

The only tanks interested in the 5 piece bonus would be those that just permablock anyway. The 4 piece is actually nice though. Major protection is a 30% damage reduction, and for bosses that you dont have to move for this may well be viable...but this becomes a nightmare on trash mobs where it procs while you are still in the process of running around puncturing things. This is a set that I would keep on my tank for ONLY certain fights...otherwise I would prefer anything that doesnt slow me 75% and instead just cast Circle of Protection and deal with 8% reduction +10% stam regen boost. In other words...equip for the warrior in vHRC and not much else. At that point though, you might as well equip the pirate skeleton monster set(at least it gives an amusing transformation animation) since reducing movement speed by 75% will likely result in 15-20% more damage from AoEs and cleaves
-75% Speeds, can't see this being used in PvP much

For a tank yeah, but no one else

Tanks in PvP wont use this either....especially not in PvP where movement is life.

BGs would like to have a word with you, when they work of course.

Those set bonus values are worrisome. Higher than anything seen before, as if they're scaled above. However it also says 9/5 set pieces active, perhaps that's why?

Pretty sure you would be giving up a ton of damage to use this in BGs, you would be totally dependent on proc sets...which are likely to be nerfed soon enough. I suppose you could squat on a flag with this set? You would have to run something like Viper(or red mountain)+Selene(or velidreth)+this in a 2hd/S&B combo for it to even be playable. I sure wouldnt want to be hit with a 75% speed debuff at the wrong time in PvP of any sort though....your opponents will run away and laugh as you have to resort to crit charge to close the distance again

It wouldn't work on vHRC HM, though.

Just a quick run through the Trials fights and where the main tank could use this set ...

    1) HRC: First boss, second boss (bottom) but not the second boss up top, The Warrior (but not on Hard Mode)
    2) AA: All fights, and whomever is tanking the axes could likely use it too
    3) SO: All fights, except The Serpent on Hard Mode
    4) MoL: First boss, probably not on the Twins (but maybe with Shield Charge), possibly on Rakkhat
    5) HoF: First boss (if your tactic is not killing the spheres), second boss, no way on the third boss, maybe on the fourth boss with Shield Charge, not sure about final boss.

To be honest, in fights where the tank doesn't move a lot I would consider using this. Say 1st boss of Hel Ra, the Mage, Almost all bosses in vSO, 2nd boss of Halls. Movement of a tank doesn't matter on all fights. Up time might not be too great but could come in handy, will see and test as usual. Not that bad of a set though.

I was talking about PvP . Purge is too expensive to use in PvP , especially non-CP . No PvE tank will use this set anyways .

I can see this set being useful in fights where movement is not a priority, such as tanking the axes on the Mage in vAA. It's pretty niche though, and is not ideal for other bosses, so this would require the tank to switch sets around for different bosses.

I wonder if you can remove the self-snare with Shuffle or Rapids.

As a tank I'd still use support sets instead of this. Ebon/Alkosh/War machine etc. Beat this out because whether Zos like it or not, tanks and healers are also supports.

Not sure if I would use this as a PvE tank either. Sounds good with the extra health and resistance factors as well as the damage reduction, but not so much of a fan of the 75% movement reduction. Yeah, every time the proc kicks in and you're being slowed throughout. I can see how annoying it can be. It is annoying enough at dolmen when you get hit so many times by movement reduction from the adds, even for a short period of time. Particularly, when Piercing Armor or Inner Fire misfires and doesn't proc the boss at times, then when your movement with this armor set (if used as a tank) is reduced by 75% for 10 seconds... damn, could just seem a lifetime slow-motioning away trying to regain aggro with the boss.

Anyways, so Alcast is one of the ESO gurus, right? Cool.. folks like him are doing stuff that help out others to learn about the ESO environment, but how the heck are him and others alike getting info on gears and setup from future contents? Particularly this snapshot of a gold-out piece, among others. Are they like proxies of Zenimax or ZOS or something?
