Green Pact + Plague Doctor farming

Just finished farming entire sets of PvE BiS Green Pact & Plague Doctor for my warden tank. None of them was purchased. My God, that, was, time consuming. I dedicated an entire week to farming them, though I'm not sure how many hours that meant.

So uh, is this normal? You guys normally farm them or buy them or mix of both?

I don't worry overmuch about Traits. As long as I have some Sturdy in the mix for Tank Gear, I am good to go. I also don't spend all that much time farming, I buy things in the Guild Kiosks for the most part.

I farmed the plague set but bought the green pack set. It seems like the rings and neck have a drop rate of .00001 so I gave up lol

To be honest usually it's farm until I get annoyed and then buy whatever I am missing

I farmed PD just after 1T for 1 week (8+ hrs/day cuz unemployment) trying to get pants to drop (LOL) but then I learned about them not having appropriate drop rates thus I farmed treasure chests for another week and got a few pair. After that, never again. SO, now I buy whatever I don't get while doing overland stuff when completing quests or skyshard hunting on 11 characters.... At this point though, at least its not a whole lot so the bank doesn't take a big hit.

PD had a better drop rate for me than GP. But, I can't imagine combining those sets in anything other than vHoF. Anywhere else, it's just too much health and not enough group support (other than Igneous shields).

I farmed them. They arent hard to find. There are plenty of treasure chests in Deshaan. I have found several Sturdy shields which sell for a nice price in the process. I did this when One Tamriel came out so it was awhile back.

I actually don't have too much health. I got them because I can be flexible and change glyphs/attributes later on depending on how much HP I need. The HP bonuses from the two sets can't be beat so I wanted to secure that first. I have tri glyph on all with 10 into magicka and rest into stam in attribute. I can tank and heal really well as a Warden with my current setup, and decent DPS if I want to run a delve, dolmen or public dungeons.

Buy. Its faster to amass tons of gold and buy then gamble with rng. The house always wins.

Yeah you're lucky. I had everything GP farmed rather quickly except for the second 1h and neck. I got the shields quickly, in fact I ended up with 6, two of which I use and others I am selling. I got the neck and 1h on the same day after about a week. I've gotten various 1h's until finally lucking out with infused, though defending would've been okay.

I have no issue paying others to do my farming for me. Farming in this game is akin to sitting watching paint dry for the duration of that farming, which as you've found out yourself, can be a case of "how long is a piece of string".

If you're after an Infused Green Pact shield, there's one available as a quest reward in Gil Var Delle. And one of the delve bosses drops a named Reinforced shield called "Time Buckler of the Green Pact".

I'll set off with the intention to farm the whole set, usually I'll get fed up halfway along the way and buy the last 2 or 3 pieces.

I was tempted to do this, but then saw how much cash I had in my bank and decided against it. I just bought more bank and bag space so. I'm poor, never farmed before this.

And I want to point out that these unique items seem to have a higher drop rate than other bosses dropping the non unique variant.

While farming Plague Doctor items I got 4 of the unique Axe, but did not get a single other weapon in Plague Doctor over the course of 3-5 hours.

Farming is the superior way to do it since it's free. It's just... so time consuming. It is worth it at the end however.

I devote about 1/3 of my game time to farming which I think is fine.

I'm the same. I just end up getting the *** and buying the last piece or two. Stupid RNG.

After giving them what I consider a reasonable time of grinding to get them myself, I try the PVP merchant (the ones that gives you bags with the specific areas), and after that i buy the missing pieces... It was a lot of gold at the end including the gold tanins to improve all the gear... I can grind for a while but im not gonna spend running in circles in a public dungeon or chasing after world bosses for too long, makes me sic ><

If I can buy it without going completely broke I am going to buy it. There is nothing more annoying than running things a zillion times just so RNG can give you something you can actually use.

World bosses/dolmens/delves not the way to farm overland sets. Chests are the way to go because while farming chests you can also farm every mat you see which makes eventually improving it to gold pretty easy. I will farm chests in a zone, and hit a world boss or dolmen as I come up on them....but I don't JUST farm dolmens and world bosses...that is tedious, I get better bang for my buck(or loot for my time) from chests.
