Help a noob warden healer get ready for battlegrounds?

By noob I mean newly 50 AND simply haven't played ESO that much until recently despite the join date. I've done no PvP to speak of, and I don't really know the meta. That said I have a few specific questions and would welcome any general advice. :)

EXISTING GUIDES
Are there any good existing guides/videos I should check out? Googling gave me very little as far as guides go, at least.

GEAR
From this discussion I understand I probably want:
Bloodspawn Helm/Shoulder
Wizard's Riposte 5-piece
A shield and Resto staff of some sort
???

I want these in heavy on a warden, since we have pretty good sustain with netch? Recommendations until I can farm the monster stuff?

BUILD
I've found some solid PvE build guides, but nothing for PvP. I assume I want defensive stance, but beyond that I don't really know what translates well to PvP. Even a very basic build suggestion would be welcome. I've seen some suggestion of the resto staff ulti, which is never used in PvE builds it seems, etc.

I do usually PvP on a healer in MMOs I play so I'm accustomed to being focused; I figure I want to be fairly survivable. I so far have 10 points in health and the rest in magicka? I'm an orc which I know is not ideal for healers but I love playing them. :)

Truth is you need to hit cp 160 before you can start making a real build.

I'd say when your ready go necropotence jewelry. head/should then a heavy set.

    Cheers!

Best way to do it is not to ruin your own life by stabbing yourself in the back and stay away from battlegrounds by a long run. And with long run i mean .. so far away that not even a train could carry you there before dying of old age.
    Stay sane, stay Cyrodiil :pensive:

Check out fengrushes final fortress build on YouTube. It's pretty solid.

Otherwise what you have in mind is fine. Shalks might be a nice set to pair BS and Wizards Riposte with, in which case I recommend a decisive 1h on the sword/board bar.

Currently using Kag + Transmutation for Cyro, Shalk + Trans for BG. 5 Heavy + 2 Light, Destro + Resto

    Works like a charm :)

I am REALLY loving my Chokethorn Head/shoulder, 5 part transmutation (1 armor, 3 jewlery, resto/shield), 5 seducer (4 armor, sword)

This lets me have transmutation up at all times, and have seducer on my bar with the more expensive skills (fungal bloom heal, gripping shards, purge, deceptive predator, natures embrace (vine pull heal), etc. Basically my mid combat heal, and the support utility buffs.

Skills wise I run the following setup for battlegrounds (its a bit different for cyrodill):

Sword & Board bar (support skills & survival): Enchanted Growth (fungal bloom morph. My oh *** 1 hit heal), Gripping Shards (nice root/snare when quarters get close), invigorating drain (vampire skill, nice solo snare), deceptive predator (wings, GREAT speed boost/utility to keep up or help break line of sight AND it gives 12% magika/stamina regen boost just by being slotted!), Natures embrace (vine pull heal, I went with the HOT morph since it heals the caster too. I cannot stress enough how GREAT this is for getting away, or keeping up with folks on the run without wasting stamina for break free, AND it places a nice HOT on both you and the person you pull to. I've used this to get INTO a pack too, and then hit the gripping shards for that big crowd CC. This is really a personal favorite)

Resto bar (long buffs and heals): Combat prayer (my second/cheaper oh *** heal. I never like to be without an instant heal option if things go *** up. And its not a bad little DPS boost), Seeds (nice delay heal, i dont have to micro manage it, and a good AOE debuff), mutagen (nice for keeping transmutation buff up, 20s duration so cast and forget for a few), Ice Fortress (major resolve, and 8% damage reduction, 21s duration. whats not to love?), blue betty (27 seconds of regen and it gives me passive magika/stamina regen of 12% just by being slotted).

I am already 160, but thanks for the tip. :) I did level a Templar before Morrowind, so I at least had that head start. :)

I will do that for sure. Thank you.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. Sometimes I see the "5 blah, 3 blah" and I realize people with experience probably know exactly whether that should be light or heavy etc., but I definitely don't at this point lol.

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR THIS. Holy crap.

I realize there's room for customization in builds always but I'd much rather have a solid build I can play with awhile and then potentially tweak slightly rather than start from nothing.

You have no idea how grateful I am for this! <3<3 I may have a couple of followup questions once I sit down with it and have some time to digest. Hope that's OK.

EDIT: Already had one. Do you run full heavy armor? Full light? Mix?

No worries. By no means do I assume my build is perfect, and there are a few things I personally use because I like them (i have a soft spot for the vine pull heal) but it will certainly get the job done.

As far as armor types goes, I run 5 heavy (my seducer and 1 monster part), 1 medium (monster part), and 1 light (transmutation part) to get the full 5 benefit of heavy, and the max boost from the undaunted passive.

Ah, I didn't mean that as a criticism, just that playstyle (or teammates' builds etc.) can mean situational tweaks to builds. My regular PvE crew are almost exclusively stam builds for instance so I don't use Orb much, as an example.

I'm actually a big fan of the vine heal too so I'm absolutely thrilled you've been making it work for you. :D Thanks again.

No worries I knew what you meant. It was more of a disclaimer on my part that Im sure someone somewhere can make my build even better haha.

And yeah, the vine heal is a ton of fun, and the more battlegrounds I do the more i love it, especially since I dont run mist form.

Let me preface with the fact that I still need a loooot of practice and learning what to expect from different classes/setups -- I hadn't really PvPed at all before rolling this warden.

That said, I am really enjoying the gear/build setup @Dakmor_Kavu posted.

I don't run Vampire so I've been slotting Efficient Purge instead of the drain. I also waffle a bit between Gripping Shards and slotting a DPS skill to help pressure.

I need to do a lot more testing to see if I prefer Combat Prayer (I love the buffs) or Healing Ward ... it seems like I always find myself needing the one I don't have slotted but it's hard for me to find anything to kick off the healing bar to make room for both.

Anyways. This is a longwinded endorsement and thank you. :)
