ESO plus free trial discussion

I don't know the statistics, but I'm willing to bet ZOS lost subs when the new expansion hit and they realized it wasn't covered.

Nice try though, I'll take my free trial... but I won't be paying for it until Expansions are covered, or until ESOplus is actually worth the payment.

Probably just trying to promote it and give more reason to log in during a holiday week on one of the servers. Regardless of the NA holiday, makes sense to give non subs a taste of the crafting bag and extra bank space.

Heck, double bank space may have saved ESO+. Who knows. I could be wrong.

Well it's hurting housing system. I'm guessing they;ve chosen not to give housing storage because that'd ruin yet another part of ESOplus.

If they lost subscriptions, it wasn't because of the expansion.
It was because of the Nerf Patch of Doom that just happened to come at the same time. The expansion had nothing to do with it, because the Nerf Patch would have happened even if Morrowind didn't exist.
But since they (stupidly) came at the same time, people associate one with the other. So some of them say "I hate Morrowind!" when they really mean they hate the patch that nerfed their characters.

LOL! ZOS realized Morrowind Expansion killed ESOplus so now they're trying to get people to resub.

YES this must be it! It has nothing to do with a holiday week, or standard promotionals!

Because none of the other major MMO's have events like this. Not WoW, Rift, SWTOR, Secret World (ok maybe not a major, but is a favorite of mine), Tera, nope none of them do promos.

"I hate Morrowind" just rolls off the tongue a lot easier than "I hate the patch that nerfed my characters"

No actually they are trying to get people to buy crown crates. They intentionally changed the focus away from ESO Plus, it wasn't an accident.

Double personal inventory space is more needed than bank space. I'm sure this will be next for subs :).

Honestly their lack of communication and ability to communicate via the forums is the real source of their subscription issues. If they took 5 minutes to look at the borderlands and destiny forums they'd learn what having a dev and community communication team looks like. This housing debacle is a clear show of that.

I would love to share a list of 5 things they could do that would instantly improve community relations but I would need to get asked. I honestly feel like it's going to fall on deaf ears and I don't want to frustrate myself.

No, it was because of the changes in DLC. The crown DLC will be really small, so the illusion of value from ESO+ based on access to DLC (which was never a good value) is now gone.

ESO+ is now solely about inventory management (and for those into customizing housing). I suppose it is still for those bad at math.

It is enough for me to subscribe for 2 months a year and play something else the other month. Unless customer service offers something when I cancel. Crafting bag are great, but I'm not paying $15/month to repeat content.

While the Nerf Patch of Doom I'm sure did drive people out of subbing, I am also sure that selling the expansion outside of ESO+ did the same thing. People care about different things, and I know that the chapter not being included in ESO+ was hard for a lot of people that have a sub.

I kept mine because I found value in a few other things. The crafting bag, increased bank space, costume dying, and crowns. I still feel like changing the rules and taking content away from subbing decreased the value of having it. Waiting to see if they make up for it or not.

For me, the changes that come every time there is a patch have nothing to do with subbing, they are happening anyways. And every single time, some people are upset over the changes. If you have been around for a bit, you should expect things like this to happen. And expect for things to be changed again and again and again.

Yeah thats not it at all. All Morrowind did was add content, if people enjoyed the game before its release and had ESO+ then they would still have all the same things they did before, not 'losing' anything.

I doubt Zos gave a second thought to adding storage to housing as some have requested. Based on how bank and bag space works it's a fantasy to think we'd be able to craft away and add a large amount of storage space in housing.

If storage was ever added to housing it would work and be priced like our bag and bank storage scale.

I don't really care about DLC PvE content, I've never done any thieves guild or dark brotherhood. Cyrodiil is a unique experience every time I go in.

Storage isn't going to happen in Housing because it would hurt sales of the Banker NPC. Effectively it is the ONLY method of having some sort of storage in your homestead. Without it having a crafting center setup in your home just feels utterly pointless because you still have to teleport to a city with a bank to do anything with the items you've crafted in it.

Also.. yep, I cancelled my ESO+ the moment this chapter business was announced. Will I ever subscribe again for anything? I'm not sure but for now the answer is a big no, because I have no faith in this company to not leave me feeling burned. But if it's any consolation I bought Morrowind on sale, and saved myself $75 so far by not subscribing.

You can complain all you want but it means nothing if you're handing over a check while doing it.

Yeah if anything they went up due to the bank space.

You obviously don't understand marketing. You get free crafting bag and double bank space. You give somebody that for essentially a week for free you think they will want to go back ? They will probably see a 10-15% increase in subs from this alone.

I don't hate morrowind. And I don't hate the patch. I do think morrowind was over priced. And the sustain changes are silly. But I dropped my sub because of the Morrowind chapter.

Not because I hate anything. But because of the loss of value. First right off the bat with the change I am getting 25% less. Just right off. I was getting 4 dlcs. Now I'm getting 3. Then add in the chapters will likely be the largest of the dlcs. Which means I am potentially getting even less. Then add in the fact I have to pay for the chapter. 40 bucks. Ok so I get for free the little rinky *** dlcs, maybe a dungeon or 2. A small area or a trials. Yet anything of real intrest will probably be pushed into the chapter for the sale. And even from morrowind to next dlc which is 2 dungeons, 3 months. Or 45 dollars. 45 dollars to the next dlc a small area and a mini trial? A mini trial? You mean dungeon? A dungeon is a mini trial you jack wagons!! Ok that is a little bit of a tangent...

Anyway no hate here. I don't hate either. I dropped my sub because the value in content isn't there anymore.

I mean, ESO plus is alive and well even without covering expansions? But okay whatever OP. I guess getting the monthly subscription's price worth of crowns plus all of the extra perks such as crafting bags ceased to be worth it.

*sighs* you people really love the tinfoil hats...

Sure it's a marketing drive, but I don't think they're doing it because they suddenly lost thousands of subs. I am pretty sure if that happened you would have seen a drastic change in how they run other things.

When an MMO company takes massive sub hits they tend to look at why and not just chug along making the same mistakes.

What's next free trial ESO weeks are because they have no customers playing the game any more? :smirk:

If I was on console I would probably sub too. The easy of use is to much. On PC I can use addons to push and pull items from banks automatically for sorting. Doing this by hand would suck enough, I would sub.
