Healer relevance

As a healer, i find myself dps'ing in most Dungeons, even vet. I find most content, unless your with low level pugs just dosent require a healer, making us obsolete.

I really, really hope this changes, as i Miss full time healer/support mode on my templar. Im not suggesting they overtune the bosses and make them hit like trucks, therfore requiring a healer, thats just lazy and boring.

But they could introduce mechanics that require healing, have an npc during a fight that must be healed to death, make them glow green or something. Plenty of mechanics they could introduce to make the trinity relevant, instead of just a dps fest. Give bosses a shield that requires healing to take down, healing has number associated with it just like damage, pretty easy to put checks in almost anywhere. Please zos make healers great again.

The last thing we need are Bosses hitting EVEN MOAR like trucks. They hit hard as is already. You can't speak for everyone when you say things like that, some may find it easy and simple while others find it demanding.

Try playing with less competent players. You'll be doing all the healing your heart desires.

Also since when does all content need to be doable by everyone. Normal mode should be doable by anyone, but people seems to think that vetran mode should be also. Bull.

Same thing can be said about tank for non-DLC vet dungeons. You can easily finish with 4DDs who have self heals and one slots inner fire at a few bosses.

as a noob healer myself, i'd like to ask, between keeping spc buff up, keeping combat prayer up, applying magickasteal, applying minor vulnerability, and providing shard and/or orb, how do you find time to focus on dps?

I have to heal heaps in vet RoM/CoS, especially on hm. I actually do not have time to even apply buffs on hm sometimes between staying alive myself and keeping everyone up ._.

I haven't been running too many dungeons lately, when I do it's either vet RoM/CoS with friends or random vet with pugs(which also requires me to heal heaps if I'm the healer :D ).

Try to run (as other users also said) with not-so-much organized groups or experience players and the music will be entirely different!

Moreover, great healers in my opinion are those who give sustain to the group!

There are way too many around trying to contribute to damage while the actual DDs are secretely (or openly) cursing them for not receiving any kind of sustain (spears, orbs, there are healers not even running ele drain!!).

Indeed, you sound like a competent healer.

This. Of course you could add dps, but only after you are sure every buff runs. Lightning Wall , eledrain, orbs, combat prayer, synergies dir moondancee and so are the main reason I want a healer in my

Healers have huge relevance is most content, threads like this is far more suites to talk about the lack of relevance for tanks in a lot of instances. In only really good self sustaining DPS groups are neither required but in a lot of the content you can simply out heal everything and have an extra DPS in instead of a tank. Oh and if you think Trial healing is just casting Healing Springs over and over then I would ask you to please slot a few skills next time you do a trial and optimize your heals a bit more to help with buffs as well.

You sound like a healer I'd be happy to have in a group. Not noob :)

I don't have much dungeon experience as I've only really done them with my son, lol- but we 2-man the normal dungeons with me on heals and him on DPS. It's tactical work and keeps me on my toes. Great fun.

But then again I guess that's not what you're going for, op, if it's pure healing that you're looking for. Something different though.

Dungeons mostly need just a part time healer. Heck, a solid group rarely needs a healer. Trials is where healing comes into play.

This is mostly due to working with the mechanics and killing fast reduces the damage greatly and we all have skills to help keep us alive.

If you found yourself doing dps in dungeon you are doing a good job as healer, assuming you don't let your team die.
In my opinion a healers job is in the following order:
    1. keeping your grp alive
    2. buffing your grp
    3. helping with mag/stam resources (basically killed with morrowind update)
    4. adding dps
Ice Furnace: This item set now grants Spell Damage, rather than Weapon Damage for the 4 piece bonus
