MMORPG's used to be all about "playing with others"
MMORPG's have evolved into "solo play"
Solo players just want to have access to any group content without having to forge friendships and grow with a group of people aka the guild.
Back in days, you do a raid with the guild, 2 items drop. Everyone gets excited, everyone has there fingers crossed for the loot, everyone is excited that the guild is getting stronger.
What it has evolved into, everyone gets loot, we just do this content because its part of the, grind... Another thing MMORPG's has evolved into. The grind. The solo. The all about having access to everyone, being apart of everything so I can access everything, no work necessary, no loyalty necessary, no friendships necessary.

It's the same reason guild membership is capped at 500. Those lists of members have to be stored in memory, and they have to be accessed every time someone sends a message in guild chat.
Proof that it requires more power? lol
Are... are you seriously not aware that computers have to store things in memory to be able to do things with them? If that's something you think needs "proof," I'm not sure you should be using a computer.

I suppose having non-combat pets in trials also contributes to server performance and frame rate lol
And here I am thinking 5 is way too many... lol
I liked MMO's where you only join 1 guild at a time. Better rivalries and guild pride.

Only if they also change the guild trader system at the same time.
Like increasing the limit to 100 items per trader, or one guild can hire up to 5 traders, .. or better yet: screw the system entirely and switch to a global auction house.

Personally I think the limit should be 1.
