Can We Discuss RNG For a Moment?

Bruh I've been grinding this same damn dolmen in Stonefalls for about a good 2 to 3 hours now, and still have not encountered a purple Silks of the Sun necklace or ring. Better yet, I haven't encountered any purple quality jewelry at all.

And well... I've been thinking...

Are you developers still so certain that having players do the same repetitive tasks for hours to days on end makes them find the game more appealing? I'm not even going to get into VMA grind, as I'm 400+ runs without a sharpened inferno or lightning. So yeah. I've pretty much all but given-up hope for that stuff. But anyway, are you all still sure about your decisions on refusing to add things like a trait re-roller (similar to the mystic in Diablo 3: RoS) and lessen the RNG involved for players to get what it is they seek? Are you sure it's not a smart idea to remove BoP and all that goofiness? Are you sure it's not a smart idea to allow a token system of sorts for: Dungeons, trials, and VMA (kinda a trial lol)?

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but part of the reason why you've lost so many damn players over the years is because of the numerous layers of RNG involved in so many things. Part of the reason why you've lost so many players, is because they are tired of spending so much of their time hunting for something. Rather than actually going out and enjoying the game and getting certain content done. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results? The player base has told you all at ZOS for how many damn years now to add a token system to content like VMA. And what do you all do? Completely ignore it. Lol. Then somehow people claim we (the players asking for said things) are entitlement issues. Aaaaaand to combat this, you doooooo what? Right. Nothing. That's right. Lol.

I've played tons of games involving RNG. WoW, Destiny, Disgaea 5, GTA:O (yup even this has RNG when it comes to special crates and holiday giveaways), Pokémon (all of them lol), Digimon (all of them too lol), Witcher 3, Diablo 3, etc. I could go on and on. But what sets these games apart, is that they implement ways for players to combat the ridiculous RNG at hand. Pokémon implements new and interesting ways game after game to make catching shinies all the more easier. Diablo 3 has Kadala for making the acquisition of certain gear easier, and then the mystic to help get better traits on your gear. Disgaea 5 has all types of systems involved to help lessen the RNG at hand, and so on. What really does ESO have to help limit the amount of RNG experienced by players in game? And please don't mention that atrocity that is the Cyrodiil zone vendor. I know people who've blown 2M+ AP, and still haven't gotten what it is that they seek.

And yes, I am the same dude who got that good RNG a few days/weeks back regarding writs and crown crates. But, that still does not take away from the horrible RNG dragging this game down.

If you were on PC EU I'd give you a full gold set. Sorry dude. Bruh seriously RNG is the bane of this game right now.

@DRXHarbinger Thanks. I appreciate it, bruh.

But damn, would it REALLY hurt ZOS to implement a token system to ESO? Would it really hurt hurt the game, to have system in place where you could re-roll your gear's traits for something better? At the cost of like gold or a type of crafting material. Would it really drive players away, if something like Diablo 3's Kadala were added to ESO? A system where you could spend a type of currency for a specific armor or weapon type (staff for example)? Instead of saying, "Damn, I gotta go hit-up this world boss or dolmen for the next week praying I get what I need — let me go talk to this NPC right quick. Spend a little bit of this ____ right quick for the zone's staves." It would lower the RNG dramatically, which would be a major quality of life improvement to the game. And thus more players would want to play, and would probably bring back old players being as newer systems were being implemented to make the grinds that much more less. MESSAGE! It wouldn't hurt the game at all. Makes tokens boe on the gear still boe. Same items can be sold. Or simply put. Break down the gear vendors to weapons, jewelry and armor. They did it with the tel var merchant. Rework world bosses too. The loot tables are far too big. Ae for dungeon bosses. Make them weapons only and gems in chests only.

Why were traits like: Charged, powered, nirnhoned, etc. added to Maelstrom Arena's loot tables? Why was prosperous and training added to the undaunted chests loot tables? Why are Rewards of the Worthy and A Champion's Prize providing any gear outside of Impenetrable, when the gear is gotten from activity within a PvP environment? See what I'm saying? Goofy stuff, bro. It's there to make players spend more time at something than needed, and thus resulting in those types of things doing more harm than good.

And honestly? I would understand if ZOS wasn't told about it constantly. I would understand if there are numerous complaints about a lot of this stuff both in-game and on the forums. I would understand if these types of complaints didn't exist. But they do. And they are quite prevalent.

Bruh you speak too much sense.

I think of like this. Remember pogs and other stuff in random packets that you collected as a kid. Got all excited for and it was a dupe with the "aw damn next time I'll get it" with a childish smile and giddyness? I genuinely think that is zos approach to vMA loot and trial loot tables, completly oblivious to the fact 99% are furious with the amount of attempts we have all made and trying to get what we want. Stuff like that was fine when we were 7 years old. Not anymore when I can't even play the game how I want (some irony here) as I spend it all trying to get a poxy staff. Rng is not exciting for adults.

I feel you OP. I have been farming that damn netches touch gear divines and it simply will not drop the chest for me, literally I have done over 100 runs by myself and 50-60 runs in groups, when its the pledge. I have offered 200k to anyone in the group who finds it and nothing! Really starting to believe it doesn't exist in my loot table and to be honest rather than making me want to play the game, it is making me sick to the back teeth of running the same damn s**to over and over to the point were I'm having a rest from the game! Yes vma sucks aswell no sharpened stave for me either after 100s of runs. A token system as you say would help not hinder the game, but ZOS just do not listen and do not care!!!

+1 Awesome for not giving up on this matter!
I finally gave up on this game and moved on. (no, no one can have my stuff - it's all mine!)
Maybe I'll be back when things get better. For the time being I lost my faith in their ability to make the game more fun instead of less and less, with lags everywhere, "balancing" being nothing but nerfs all over the place, small QoL things never being implemented and all the bugs never being fixed.. :(

Pretty sure the dev have heard our voices on this.
Also pretty sure they don't care
As long as they keep selling crowns they don't care what we think.
Want them to listen then boycott the crown store and hit them where it hurts the most.

I just might have to do that. As much as I like cosmetic items and the whole "fluff" nonsense, I just might have to talk with my wallet. Granted of course that I am only 1 person out of many, but at least that's 1 less person funding the nonsense occurring.

I've been feeling this lately and I admit it is starting to make me feel resentful. So much grind with nothing to show for it.

The additions to Diablo 3 you mentioned have made it so easy to complete sets that people can get their season quest done within a week or two then stop playing. Or otherwise make a new character and get it on that. Only the truly hardcore people who would have played otherwise still play d3 past their season journey. Worse off, now that people complete this *** in two days, they've added a higher tier of RNG items called Primal Ancients that people need to grind for now, again, to be just that much stronger. Its a never ending cycle.

Yeah RNG is the bane of item set based games, but it's also literally the only thing keeping them together. MMO endgames aren't built off being appealing, they're built off The Grind, whether that's reputation or loot grind.

So far since posting this originally, I've gotten a Shalk necklace and Shalk ring (both purple quality) in that timespan... Those have been the ONLY purple jewelry pieces I have had drop for me... And I've been at this since approx. 2am. . .

    ... It's now 7:37am. :|

Honestly, if I don't get a purple Silks of the Sun ring or necklace by 8:30am? I'm just going to go play some Disgaea 5 or Skyrim or something. I refuse to let myself get burned out again of ESO, and honestly I'm not in the mood for this RNG bs. Tons of green and blue jewelry though. And even then, it's barely ever Silks of the Sun. It's like the game knows I'm looking for it to complete my set. Catching shinies or 4IV Pokémon is more successful than this. I could literally in the time span I've spent doing this have caught all types of shinies. Probably shinies with high IV's. This is ridiculous.

So I have made some progress. In 5-6hrs. of farming this dolmen in Stonefalls, I've gotten 1 purple Silks of the Sun necklace... I'll say that again. For 5-6hrs. of grinding straight, I have gotten ONE of the Silks of the Sun pieces I'm looking for. :|

Farming for perfect gear is always the last thing I do before every break from this game. Trials is the worst because of all the time you need to put a group together and then have to fight the rng monster.
