Has anyone ever lost their chill in a pug?

Just yesterday I was out in Cyrodiil PUG groups were trying to flip nikle. To their credit they got the door open, however they wouldnt run in, instead they meandered around the door. The red circles where oil was dropping on them causing literally 30+ people to die over and over didnt seem to phase them either.

I /yelled a hopeful message "GET OUT OF THE RED CIRCLES AND PUSH IN"

To no avail. As a wise man once said "you dont know what you dont know" So hopefully this thread and my post will server to help others in the future. Specific to Cyrodiil, you must PUSH INTO THE KEEP AND GET ON THE FLAGS TO FLIP IT.

Thank you again OP for this opportunity, I truly appreciate it.

But we knocked the wall down. Shouldn't they just surrender?

Was in a random group. Normal mazzatun (thanks group finder)

I'm on a lowbie healer. First dungeon I ever qued for. Warden healer.

I tell the people where to stand to get the best healing and they refuse.

And I kinda lost it on an and got pissed off..

Has anyone else just lost it when the group won't function or communicate properly?

Not at all. In fact I fully expect players to never listen to me, and I do my best to accommodate as a healer. I even come prepared so I can tank (ice staff or 1h + shield) in case our tank is actually DPS, which happens often.

If I want a group that communicates, I do so with a group from one of my guilds.
I've been lucky enough to get the occasional pug that communicates, and it is awesome when it happens. Strangely enough, those are the ones most willing to share dropped equipment they either already had or didn't need. It is far better using Discord with my guild though.

PUGs became a lot more tolerable for me once I dropped all expectations for them. If I PUG I go in expecting to solo it and if I get help, awesome, if not, well... that's what I expected.

The thing is, if you have high expectations in a pug where anything could happen and it could all go to hell in seconds, youre setting yourself up for disappointment. set you standards low and you wont lose your chill.

If I ever lose my chill in a bad pug group, I just leave, im not gonna let lowbies or bad players ruin my fun.

I spend half my time in dungeons and the other in the real world. Lots of dungeon time involves PUGs because guild groups take ages to get together and a dungeon is seen as a whole night's activity. No, eight or nine dungeons is.

PUGs are usually smoother - a lot smoother. People who run them are doing loads of dungeons quickly, which is why they use them. And they've had A LOT of practise. Sure, people who are frightened of other people and are poor communicators also use them (that's the kind description), but so long as tank and healer know what they're doing you're usually fine.

I think it's rare to get a terrible PUG, and just because someone is in your guild doesn't make them a better player. Some great players in my guilds, some that are always carried. But guilds are more about friendship than competition. At least for me.

So no, never lose my cool. PUGs have given me too large a return on my investment for me to get upset. A small loss is easily swallowed

P.S. Healers always know what they're doing, at least in any group I've been in

It isn't rare at all for me to get a terrible pug. I'd say a solid 50% of the groups I end up with are just trash. The other 50% either steamroll through everything, or are people who will actually listen while I teach them the dungeon.

I agree on the guild thing. While I like my guildies, I'd rather get 5 dungeons done and over in the time it would take to form one group from guild.

Sad commentary on contemporary gaming climent.

@BigBragg this is a perfectly normal reflection of real life. If you went in to work, except instead of coworkers you interact with nigh daily you got a random swath of people who have decided they wish to do this thing for money today, your team would be highly nonfunctional and uncommunicative on most days. :p

I've had my share of pain running pug groups. But this is where ZOS is more at fault rather than player, i'd say. From the beginning of time, we know how broken in-game Group finder is. More than 3 years of launch and while we should have been seeing more and advanced feature added to group finder, here ZOS is stuck still trying to fix the very tool.

To me these days game seems to be more of a HYPE SCROLLS ONLINE rather than a working game. Every patch brings more and more bugs and something additional to previous patches being broken.

If (ever) ZOS manages the group finder to work and add some more features to it, Grouping should be based on Character levels, rather than just looking at Roles and making a sandwich out of them.

But we all know that's NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

So yes, may of us have lost their chill while in pug, and the pain will continue for many more to come. I learnt my lesson and these days if I ever do dugeons/ pledges, I do it with my guild mates/ friend to whom i know and randomly pick a 4th out of zone sometime when I know 3 of us can pull the whole place on our own and 4th is just to fill the role/ support.

Yeah, but, as a healer you have much stronger influence over whether or not the group will make it. (If you cannot solo, that is...)

...and yes, I lost my countenance a few times. You won't see some big ugly CAPS LOCK SPEECH in chat. I just leave group maybe sometimes added by a Combat Metrix post in the group chat where I do over 30% of the group dps (3k dps as a tank), if dps was the issue.

From a dungeon and general noob perspective - I have only done a handful - the thing I have found most off putting in whole game is getting screamed at for making a 'mistake'... not having 'optimum' skills etc.

I fully upfront when I pug that I am level 40, not huge experience etc... but will try my best and take advice... But jeezo some people forget that not everyone has 20 hours a day to play the game and become an expert. We all paid for the game and should be able to bmto enjoy dungeons and pvp without getting screamed at. I do think much more should be done though to group similar level folk together to stop aggravation.

If I queue as D33ps usually I can solo anything on any class where mechanics allow, so I don't usually care to much to even waste a soul gem on pugs.

My Templar when pugging runs an Inferno DPS bar and a heal bar (seriously for pugging all you need is spring spam, Orbs and Shards. So again where I can I can survive anything bar the DLC dungeons and possibly Skoria.

Tanking.....Well you're instagibbed if you're a tank, the absolute worst time I've screamed at people was typically ICP, Overfiend....STOP BURNING THE *** BOSS! I cannot tank a 30 strong Zerg or spellcasters, the overfiend and the OP Harvester. Why oh why oh why is it near 2 years down the line people do not know the mechanics for this boss...More Damage = More adds, Do some damage, leave the boss, Mop up trash and then repeat. It's not difficult....and don't get me started on Ibomez. Last night I had 7 Atros up, both the Healer and deeps ignored the bombs and tried to burn through the summoning phase. Anytime I tank a DLC dung I always ask "does everyone know the mechs for this" unless I see a Vmol Skin, HOF Skin, Amberplasm and Spiderkith, regardless of CP level (CP Means nothing tbf) I have to assume they do not know.

Entire group said yes and the above happened. I honestly don't know what's best. Spend an hour struggling and give up and possibly repeat with other scrubs or spend 3hrs trying to successfully do it, if it wasn't for the fact that 21 months down the line I don't have a divines Scathing mage sash I seriously wouldn't bother with ICP anymore. Tanking it gives me an Aneurism, serious warm spot in the central lobe.

I never lose my chill in a pug or other group to be honest. Yes, I have been in messy groups where all went wrong, people left mad who blamed others and then we either finished dungeon without them or other substitute players or we had to abandon.
As I see it, failed attempts are fun to do also. It's just a game and even after a 10th wipe I still keep it cool. I really just don't give a rats ass about rewards/achievements etc. For me it's just a virtual world where I can fool around.

Fungal Grotto II, vet pledge. To get credit for HM, you mustn't enter the protective bubble.

We were a high cp group, everybody above 500. Someone types HM? Everyone says yes. Upon the boss' first channel, the tank immediately enters the bubble. Someone types "wipe", the healer stops healing and we stand in the black circles to die. The tank tries to ress us, popping defensives and what not, eventually fails and dies.

Someone types "don't enter the shield dome, we want HM". Tank does not respond but then enters again. We ask if he speaks English, no reply, someone tries to explain the issue in more detail, no reply, we stand around for a while yelling at him, no reply and he then pulls the boss and guess what.. he enters the bubble again.

Tank gets kicked, and I get a pm from him, in seemingly perfect English saying:

"Either we are doing this properly or not at all, noob."

I now realize that at that point I should have just laughed it off but given the frustration of the wipes, I let him have it, using phrases I would rather not repeat here.

Yes they better lose their chill.
"Dps" wardens stealing my aggro away with ice heavy attack is really annoying espiaclly if they run all over the place when the boss doesn't let himself retaunted by me.

    More serious answer.
Eso isn't a new mmo anymore. Seeing max lvl people having no clue about any basic mechanics like blocking or break free went from annoying to infuriating over time for many or people who still think its skyrim online.
