Potential "Gear Cap Increase" - Not What You Think

Shock people are lazy and don't want to have to grind gear again.

People never want gear increase or to farm stuff again but it is needed to keep people playing the game.

Right now I could leave this game for over a year come back and still be at cp cap and my gear is all golden out bis. Why should I keep playing when I know I can leave not play everyday and still be relevant as the day I left 2 years ago?

We have farmed mats, dungeons, trials etc for BiS gear for hundreds of hours. Were we lazy then? I guess we would be considered lazy of the introduced a new gear level for no reason at all other than put everyone in another RNG treadmill. They might want to try and implement something so stupid as a means to keep playing. Reality says that the minute they add a pointless new level cap it will have the opposite effect. You will see the largest exodus of players the game has ever seen
"it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days." - Matt Firor

I love how zos doesn't like how people level grind (they nerf all the spots) but they are okay with mindless hours long gear grinds.

A far more palatable change would be:
    • Increase gear cap
    • Reduce number of mats for CP 160 gear to just above CP 150's requirements; CP 180 (or whatever) now requires the 10x mats of whatever the new type is
    • Create a dropped item which permits max level crafters to upgrade gear from one level to another. Perhaps it is gleaned from refining raw materials?

So, key BiS gear that was painfully acquired (like vma staves) can be upgraded, crafting is relevant, and there's an time grind to get the new materials. Initially, that dropped upgrade item will be very rare so good for market traders and is a gold sink, but after a while it will be more common -- at which point people below CP160 won't necessarily get BiS gear that's a waste.

Yeah I don't want to it 15k apiece for 16 items for one piece of armor.

This makes more sense than anything I have read so far. Still have to ask why. What does it accomplish other than a reason to grind? If all people are looking for is a reason to grind then try and compete all the collections achievements. That will keep you grinding for a very long time.

If you grinded in the same bloody dungeon for 20 hours a day, that's your fault, go outside or something.

I cannot wait until ZM raises this Disneyland gear.

I think a CP 180 raise would mke more sense then ushering in new temper alloy, etc. The reality is the increase would be minimal, but I'd run and farm the gear. It'd usher in a huge revival, especially if paired with next DLC releases. CP 160 is stale atm.

An unintended benefit would be all current cp 160 gear would be cheap, so people could at least get into it for next to nothing and at least survive the content. Could also introduce harder cp180- trials ;) with ultra rare gear, etc. Makes sense tbh.

If they make it too difficult to obtain, many will not be able tp partcipate. Resulting is QQ from core base of casual gamers. Not trying to insult anyone, just my opinin on how this would unfold

    Raise CP gear to 600+

Give the degenerate elites the opportunity to upgrade their 500hour grinded gear for free, to shut them up.

You elites have turned this great game to a Disneyland ride.
