What happened to my windows? (Mathiisen Manor)

No doubt we'll get the usual sound bites the next time they do their Q&A live thingymabob, like "we're looking into it", "We're attempting to be more interactive with the community" and the usual horse *** we're fed. Really not good enough. Forgot how much crowns the furnished Mathiisen Manor cost, but if by the end of the 4 days this all remains unanswered and my ticket gets the generic treatment, I will expect all of those crowns returned to my account, with all the furnishing that have been put in by myself to be put into my bank or inventory.

Farcical that they're charging people through the nose for this *** and they haven't even got the decency to communicate with their paying fan base whenever something is deserving of an answer. We're not rabble rousers, we're just consumers wanting a simple explanation to the following question; Are these changes intended or is it a bug? I'd really appreciate an answer to know where I stand.

I was thinking about this actually. I would suggest removing your own things and not allowing them to do it for you.

My first was maybe people wanted more wall space to hang paintings.

My second, more snarky response, is that ZOS probably wants to make windows a purchased item.

Hi everyone, apologies for the delay in replying. We're talking through some possible options, and will let you know what we plan to do regarding these changes. Will keep you all in the loop and let you know what's decided as soon as possible.

It's all strangely vague. What does she mean by options? Well, at least we've made progress.

    Options? That sounds rather ominous.

I'm not willing to say ominous yet, but it is very confusing.
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

Hey guys! Just want to let you know this is a bug that's causing some textures to be applied in the wrong places, hence the missing windows. This will be fixed in a future patch so you will once again have windows in your home.

    Thanks for the update. :)

Are you able to tell us if it's just this one house that's been affected, or if the same bug is causing other problems?

"Future patch", it means next Monday or in 3 months when new DLC will launch?

Honestly I'm grateful enough that it isn't an intended change and that they are aware of the bug and are working on fixing it. Hopefully it won't take too long, but this is already tremendous news for me.

That's kinda the way I'm looking at it. But in my case, I'm not really bothered about an ETA as it doesn't affect gameplay in any way for me personally. Just happy that it wasn't intended as it's saved me a lot of hassle getting my money back.

Also, thanks for creating this thread, it was appreciated.

If it is a bug (as I am assuming) and if they are looking into it (which I believe they are), do not expect any further announcements one way or the other.

Several of us complained about a housing bug that would not allow us to leave our houses, especially the three fee inn rooms. We were a small voice, but we complained for months in multiple bug report threads. ZOS never made a single statement on the subject: not even the standard "we're aware of the problem and looking into it."

-- And yet, with the Morrowind patch, the problem was successfully solved, without any fanfare or acknowledgement that it had ever existed in the first place. I am very happy with how it all turned out. And their approach is sensible from a corporate standpoint: I believe they will make every effort to fix the problem, but there will never be anything in the way of announcements or, especially, admissions. Owners of these houses should consider themselves lucky that they got the "we're looking into it" response.

It's good to report the problem and keep it in front of the developer's eyes as much as possible, but everything else is just hot air.

Fixing the earthtear cavern will likely involve changing the rocks to placeable items....I hope. Keep in mind the hundings and earthtear cavern have been purchasable since the changes. For example, I previewed and bought the earthtear cavern AFTER the changes they made....I've already built a kitty cavern for my tigers in one of the areas affected by the change. If they simply revert it back, they might get a whole slew of new complaints from new users who are like "heeeeey where are my rocks?!?"

If my kitty cave gets changed though, I would like to state that I won't get mad/complain. I'm just illuminating another side of the argument.

I really wish they would remove the invisible wall from the platform on the right area. I want to put my thrones and statues there.

On the inside, there are bricks occupying the space where the windows were. But wait! What's that? Looks like someone forgot that sunlight doesn't pass through bricks, and therefore can't shine on the floor beneath them!xuP8aog.png

Ok everyone, regarding the changes made to Earthtear Cavern, this was actually an intentional change in order to prevent an issue where you could access an unplayable area outside of the home. As such, we will not be reverting this change since it was done to fix an issue. These changes went live sooner than we expected, which is why there wasn't a documented patch note for it; we apologize for the confusion this caused.

Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

What baffles me about their explanation for the Earthtar Cavern change: How does such a change go live "sooner than expected". I mean, you either change code or you don't. This just smells like a bad cover up attempt from miles away.
