Gardens for housing!

Just a fun idea:

What if you could make gardens and plant alchemy ingredients that you can pick once per day or maybe get 5 or 10 per 2 days or something like that. But to plant them you would need to find good seeds, and those good seeds can be some rare drop from picking those plants/flowers.

It would make housing more useful for players, more players would want to get houses (and thus more cash for you Zenimax), and would be easy for the developers to make.

    Number 1.

    I love IASIP.

    Number 2.

    I love your idea.

    Number 3.

They should add animal husbandry like goats or hens as well to the garden. So I can offer people eggs when they're in trying times.

This is a great idea to have an alchemy garden. Saves me spending a lot of time farming mats for spell pots. Love the idea also to have animals wondering around. Something like Skyrim where I had an alchemy tower with a greenhouse to grow my plants

Everyone would have plantations of most expensive herbs on the market which is bad for economy and balance. I doubt they will accept this idea, but I personally like it.

I love this idea. Then, I think about all the great housing ideas that have come and gone on these forums because they're being lumped in with "General Discussion" and I weep a silent, virtual tear.

I'd like to have at least decorative alchemy plants. I want a nightshade, nirnroot and a crate with mushrooms!

And butterflies. And torchbugs. And rats.

My guess would be they want you out farming for those things to keep you busy between new content.

I'd think anything that gave in game real benefits would probably be a no no - so no nodes etc. It's a shame but I can understand why.

More 'life' in the gardens would be nice though - I have done what I can to make my garden mobile (those plants that release butterflies, placing the more active pets, using the plants with animations and so on) but having a few unkillable critters running around would be a nice touch.

Well you could balance this by making sure the seeds are very rare and thus expensive (maybe the seeds are like these golden drops that would cost 30k+ on the market). Also, they could make sure you can pick the flowers/plants only a few times a week, and you could only get a few of those each time you pick them. So it would take several months for you to actually get a return on your investment, and if you actually needed to make potions in mass than you would still have to buy them from guild stores.

That would satisfy Zenimax's main priority, which is trying to get people to play as long as possible, grind as much as possible, and pay as much as possible. I know it's sad that we have to cater to their corporate primary objective and not, you know, hoping that they respect their players and try to make the game more fun and hope that they get more profit in the long hall by just making their game more enjoyable...but I believe this implementation of this idea would satisfy their goal of making players continue to have to grind while adding an immersive and fun component to the game. But maybe they know something I don't that would make this idea not profitable for them.

If this were to go forward what they would probably do is put in RNG so one seed has a chance of being any harvested plant in the game and the seeds would be rare drops. So through the luck of the draw you could end up with an entire cotton plantation and have only one columbine.

That was a fun part of Fallen Earth, acquiring seeds for plants and young animals for raising on a farm. All could be crafted and sold too. Would be fun to use the outdoors for profits.

Knowing how this game goes, nirnroot will probably be one of the things we CAN'T grow.

Definitely like this idea, as long as the amount you can harvest is limited.

Also want farm animals and wild animals, I've done my Autumn's Gate out as a nice little wooded garden and it needs a couple of squirrels and rabbits...
