Is there an add-on for that? Wow I didn't know. I'm pc.

Look for furniture preview add-on. Great add-on.

But, preview for furniture crafting is in base game. The add-on adds preview for plans and merchants, etc.

I never bother to start. Housing on this game never really appealed to me, it lack many benefits that other MMORPGs offer with their versions of housings. Housing on this game is more or less just a way to kill time if you waiting for a dungeon/trial/campaign/battleground queues/groups to form. Frankly it's not even worth the time or the coin to serve as an asthentic feature that becomes pointless very quickely.

Is It? I'm pretty sure I've made close to a million by selling new furniture blueprints/furniture that came with Morrowind. People are willing to pay 50k+ for blue recipes and up to 20k for purple items. Seems plenty alive to me.

It's just fluff though, don't expect any functionality added. When was the last time ZOS went back and added new free features/improvements to something that's already in the game? I think that would be right before they went b2p.

I'm enjoying decorating a friend's house right now and collecting the recipes but most houses could certainly use a furniture slot increase, it's really low as is.

I got the room in an inn, but didn't bother to take it any further when I found out you couldn't store itinerary stuff there. That's all I wanted it for. But I always suspected that they wouldn't let you do that.

If you want to talk to your mates, you can do that anywhere. But I play as a loner, so I have no-one to talk to anyway.

I would buy and decorate a lot more houses, if it weren't such a grind for furnishing materials. Even though I feel they drop better now. I have one nice house, that looks like I want it to, others I'm too exhausted to do properly.

Preview in crafting window would be great!

There's an add-on for PCs which allows you to view what a majority of items would look like crafted before you buy the blueprint/design/diagram/repice/praxis/etc. You can find it at esoui.com/downloads/info1622-FurniturePreviewGuildStoresMerchantsInventoryTradeetc.html.

I know they are missing a few designs so alternatively you could visit https://eso.mmo-fashion.com. Look under the housing section and then style which displays the styles by race.

The changed the listing of housing materials with Morrowind, giving them a new category in the trades. But that only applies to newly listes trades, the old one will remain under the old categories. A very stupid change that very few people know of ....

It's not a stupid change, as it means I no longer have to scroll through a bunch of provisioning ingredients if I'm out of Heartwood. It's more convenient this way.

But the fact that the change was never announced? That's annoying.

Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."

Mats aren't worth anything? You need hundreds of heartwood to get anywhere while furnishing a house, and they're selling at 250-300g each and are almost permanently sold out everywhere.

just mostly the players still refuse to spend more than 20 dollars for a tiny house or it too crazy for +80 dollars for large homes.
    price too high.

it reminds me of "back in the days when players selling pixel items in ebay" for cash.

Aside from added storage - allowing furniture to generate items you can search (like in other in-game houses) would help breath some new live into the system. That would give players more reasons to visit their homes.

Could do a lot with it as well - such as make the rarer and more difficult to obtain furnishings have a chance to spawn better items.

I enjoyed housing for a couple weeks, until I hit the low item cap on my house. I don't really see the long-term purpose to housing without more functional aspects. Target dummies were/are a good idea, but once you have one there's not much more to do. (Attunable crafting stations are priced for guild houses.) As other have said many times already, there's so much more that could be done with housing - maybe ZOS will work on it in the future.

I hoard all of mine just in case ZOS makes housing useful in a future release.

Mainly cuss it is what is to zos a huge cash shop best house are crowns only best furniture is locked behind terrible rng or crowns and they only have like 2 or 3 functions that don't have to be used that often like Mundus stones or crafting I made a post https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/353255/will-new-functions-ever-come-to-housing to try to get some attention to it has lots of good ideas but as zos said they have no plants to add an new features to housing right now

Can you focus and keep it to the topic? Or do you not understand how to create a thread?

the OP in his first post provided rationale behind the assertion implicit in the question as "I ask this because seems hardly on PC NA is selling materials anymore. Also seems like so people just gave up? What are your thoughts?"

So since you missed it, this post about chargen is pointing out that a drop in certain types of activity, ones done more at the beginning stages of a type of contet rather than the end, has little to no bearing on whether that activity is still active or alive or dead or not.

had the Op asked "is crafting your own furnishing dead" there would have been a logical connection between his because and his question. But instead it was about the broader use of housing.

So, actually, the post you used as your basis for questioning the POSTER about HIS focus was aimed directly and squarely at the original post of the thread, while yours was more aimed at, lead off with, that POSTER personally.

Perhaps if your posts were more focused on the topic and less about the other posters, that would be clearer.

    NOW to the Op question:

i have spent a lot on housing myself and gather "recipes" and add them to my known and sell them day-in and day-out.
i have not had need to buy materials in a while in part because the event just a while back where mats flowed as rewards has me pretty solid for now and also, even with adding new furnishings, they only added a couple new houses with morrow and i haven't myself had the need/desire to craft for them - kind busy with the new zone content.

But i will also say this, ZOS should get on the ball and start adding more functional content for housing **AND** make it through **recipes and tokens in the writ voucher vendor** and rare recipe drops. Adding functional things as whole items in the WV vendor or through the crown store alone is bad for keeping interest in crafting for housing alive.

I enjoy housing a lot. However I was really hoping zos would make some QoL improvements to housing with this patch.

My serenity falls is now just a dumping ground for my unused furniture because I found it impossible to decorate with so few slots.. very frustrating. Wish I had never bought it.

It's not dying, just sort of done. Most people have the houses they want and are more or less done decorating them. Materials and plans are plentiful and cheap for anyone who is still working through it. Like anything else new, the demand and price for housing stuff was really high at first, and drops way, way down when the hype settles.

The demand might spike again if housing storage is ever introduced.
6354 heartwood sold in the last 10 days on my MM.

Demand is just down, so prices have plummeted. Most people have completed their house(s) by now.

Whaaaat??? OK, I need to switch servers. On EU, all housing mats except for Decorative Wax are sold out everywhere, ever since Morrowind launched. I would even pay absurd amounts of gold, but it's just gone, nada. I've been trying to find heartwood for weeks, without luck.

So I can say that housing is anything but dead on PC EU.

    Housing is dead to me.

Everything is too expensive and the mats required to create even the simple items are too complex requiring too much farming.
I still only have 16 heartwood and do not have the time or any interest in spending my time farming wood nodes. To me, farming nodes, next to fishing, is one of the most boring activities in the game.
I already have a full time job and don't need a second one making pixelated furniture for my virtual home.

I purchased a home, tried to put pets in it but was told I could only put 3, tried to put a trophies but was again told I could only put 3. gave up and now just use the house for a free port. Completely lost interest in housing.

I actually never saw the point in housing. It doesn't offer teleports and buffs like guild houses do in other mmorpgs. It doesn't do anything that properties do in other games.

What do people do with housing?

Roleplay? You can use it as a free teleport to a convenient city I suppose.
The three free closets are in the main cities so why pay more? I use the free fast travel to them all the time (especially Vulkhel Guard because you can sneak out of the city when you've got a bounty), so why would I want to pay more?

I'll get a house when I get around to getting a skeleton. Last I looked, I lacked some ingredient that I haven't had the initiative see if I could find it on this stupid market system.

Rather than housing, I would prefer to be able to manage a town. Something like what Fallout 4 did. Manage meaning, build, populate, defend...

Just to chime in, as someone who dropped hundreds of thousands of gold on the player housing market, I currently have less than 35 slots left in my large house, my crafter has learned the plans of nearly everything in there, and even my three free rooms are crowded with stuff.

The rapid boom when housing was first introduced is done. The majority of those with endgame fortunes that care about housing are now in the slower "tweaking" phase. New players may come along and start on housing, but it won't be all at once like before. The market is settling to the new level is all.
