Alternative to raising the gear cap

Use gear scaling, but make gear wield-able at different levels.

For example, when you start you can wear 2-trait craftable items and gear from the starter zones. As you progress you'd encounter gear that's wearable at level 10, 20, 30, 40... CP160. Once equipped it scales along with your character. There is no logical reason why my divines necropotence gloves should be less powerful as my character gets stronger. Each set would have a level where it is capable of being worn. ZOS could even get creative and have some sets that can only be worn at something other than straight character level (e.g. fighters guild 8, completing a specific achievement, etc).

This makes the earlier character levels more fun, since it's not just a grind to CP160. You'd have a lot more incentive to gold out a set you like before the cap.

This fixes the problem of regrinding/recrafting/upgrading your existing gear if ZOS increases the cap. This also solves the problem of a level 1 walking around with a malestrom staff and BiS trial gear; just make those wield-able at the appropriate level.

If ZOS wants to raise the cap, they just scale everything up to the new cap. They could also introduce new gear that's only wieldable at CP200/CP300 without any objections.

Farming new gear is annoying but doable. Farming gear that we already had, but is now useless because the gear cap increased, is where Zos would just be taking the ***.

I think scaling gear would be good imo. I don't think it'd hurt crafting because right now, I craft level 3-4 training gear and use it til level 50. Even on NA, which I'm levelling on, I grinded to 50 on level 4 gear, and then grinded to 160 on 10 CP gear. Instead, players may want new gear as they're progressing and will craft it and it'll scale for them, so they don't need to wait until 160/180 before crafting. I like the ideas of gear only being wieldable once certain achievements/levels have came through too.

    Maybe just

    1. Remove gear levels entirely
    2. Remove material crafting tiers from the actual materials and align it with only the number of materials
    3. Remove CP and keep the passives
    4. Move levels to skill lines and allow each skill line to go past 50 with additional morphs

I don't want my low level alts being pigeonholed into certain sets. I also wasn't aware that there was a problem with low level characters having vMA weapons. I wonder how they got them since you can't do vet content until level 50.

allow for re-leveling gear, either up or down (non crown).
