Is imperial upgrade worth 25bucks?

I had an idea for a magicka night blade, all about lifesteal, aka absorbing health, i xget my idea from eqoa shadowknight, but am wondering if its worth pickin up upgrade for the imperials "red diamond" ability it has a chance to absorb life, The RNG factor sucks but i like the idea of being able to steal all the lives... lol? I would probably use sword and board and become a vampire, Absorb absorb absorb.

Red diamond is not very strong unfortunately, don't worry about using an imperial on that. I have a DK tank and stam sorc imperial and red diamond doesn't feel like anything good tbh. Breton/Argonian seems like the best choice, clearly you're going magic so yeah. Argonian is good for overall sustain/health and Breton is a tad bit more tanky with highest magic pool and reduce magic cost.

Forget about Imperial if your only interest is Red Diamond. Every race has a crappy trait; this is Imperial's.

If you want more healing received, better go with argonian.

Not at all. You're better off buying more character slots or costumes.

Well...during a crown sale the price drops to more like $12, which starts to make the imperial pack more worth it.

My friend got imperial when it first came out, and has a bunch of imperials. They don't make good magic toons at all. You get the small red diamond health restore bonus, but give up all magic benefits whatsoever from racial passives. (I always thought a more interesting passive would be one the buffs max health, magic and stamina, thereby making them good for anything).

Also, red diamond procs on melee. Magblades have some melee, but also a lot of range. To get the most of it, you want a toon that does as many melee hits as possible. I disagree with others that it's "worthless," it just depends on where you're using it.

Let's assume a character has 20k health. Each proc restores 1200 health. A stamplar with jabs can easily get out 6 melee per second. Any stam toon using dual's rapid strike/bloodthirst can do the same. That's 720 health restore per second during intense combat...basically restoring a full health bar every 25-30 seconds. So it's like having an extra 1/2 Vigor for free...I wouldn't call that useless.

I bought the imperial pack when it first released just cause I wanted the horse (and I think there was a pet, too). Only ever made on imperial race character, and haven't really noticed anything spectacular about it.
    Clueless, but willing to learn.

It's actually funny how much people complain the Warden is "Pay 2 Win", even when the Imperial has been behind a pay wall this entire time.

I bought the Imperial Edition when the game released. At the time I purchased it because of the free horse for each character. I like making many characters and that would save me 10k a toon. I have one Imperial character, and I really enjoy him as he was the first character I made, but he's not a worldbeater because of his passives. Maybe if the Imperial Converter would actually convert all armor it would be better (same with Morag Tong by the way), but it's tough to recommend the Imperial pack now. Just buy a cheap mount and be better off.

Imperials are generally better for stamina builds, where the red diamond gives them some heals on the side...
So, from that PoV... no, it wouldn't be worth it.
If you have a magica nightblade lifestealer idea, I'd go with a magica race like Breton to do good with that setup...

If on the other hand you want to make an imperial character because "Imperial"... and ride a pale horse... then it might be worth it for you.

It was worth it at launch. The horse was great for each alt pre-mount in collections. The Imperial was amazing for tanking early on.

If you will participate in PVP, I think the more useful upgrade is the one that allows you to make any race in any faction.

Imperial is OK for most builds, usually not as strong as redguard, but where Imperial becomes important for race choice is if you ever want to make extreme 80k health blazing shield or warden tank. Red diamond used to be OP back when caltrops were considered melee attacks, but not anymore.

If you want to make someone have a bad day you should try "Soul Strike" on your mag nb.

I don't think it is worth the imperial upgrade, most my mag nbs are breton or dark elf. I would select high elf but I don't like tall characters.

The only reason I'd buy the Imperial Edition is for the horse.

If I ever feel one of my characters would look good on a grey horse 2100Cr isn't too steep a price to pay.

Sap tanks use almost all the shadow abilities increasing health by 3% per slotted. With Imperial, you could easily hit 100k health for tanking purposes.
