The first thing to note: this game has had a LOT of updates and overhauls since launch. So the older the video you're referencing, the less likely it is to be accurate anymore. It's a bit of a sting in this community that some of the most popular videos about ESO rant about problems that don't exist anymore.

Anyway, as to your questions:

1. Personally, I love the sub. The inventory management perks are great, and I enjoy cosmetic features like being able to dye costumes. That said, other people may not agree. The nice thing is that you can start a ESO+ sub up at any time, otherwise it's free to play after the initial purchase. So, for now, as a new player, just buy the game without a sub. Once you've played it for a little bit, you can decide what's best for you.

2. The most reliable list of what's included in each edition is available here: https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store, since it's the game's official website. At this point, there are like six versions of this game you can pick from, so read what's included in each carefully!

3. For a new player, yeah, a bit. You can buy a mount in-game, though it can be hard to save up for it when you're first starting out. Loot scales to your level, so when you're low level, yeah, it might take a while to afford the cheap brown horse. But as you level up, loot becomes more valuable, and you also learn ways to make money in game, so money becomes a lot easier to come by. There are some people who are sitting on mountains of gold and have no idea what to do with it.

Also, if you go through the Crown Store (the in-game cash shop) a cheap guar mount is something like $8. So don't break your bank worrying about getting a mount.

4. There are no PvP or PvE servers. Instead, the way the game handles it is to have a full PvP zone (Cyrodiil) and group PvP instances called Battlegrounds. Everything else is PvE.

5. Sounds like the instancing issues that were common right after launch. Questing is a lot more stable now, so no, you should not have a problem with this. That's not to say that the game is without bugs, as a brief perusal of the forums should very well show you... just that the big game-breaking ones like that one have since been patched out. XD

6. Not sure what that one's talking about. Sounds like another of the early game bugs, or one that doesn't happen to many people. I've heard of some people having issues if they buy it through steam, which is really just an argument to buy the game directly through the website (what I linked earlier) than through steam, because when steam has service issues, that can mean being locked out of your game.

1. Entirely up to you. I find the perks of subbing definitely worth the money.

2. Reference to the person I quoted. You can buy a cheap starter pack in the crown store (in game, you must first buy crowns) for 1000 crowns. Works out to like $10 american I think.

3. The cheapest in game mount is 10k gold. When the game started we didn't have stealing and such, so it was harder to make gold. Definitely easier to make gold now. (The 10k mount is no different than the more expensive mounts. The ONLY difference is looks)

5. Old videos are bad. Zos went through the game and fixed like 99% of this. There is the ODD quest where you might end up slit from your friend for a minimal time. The "main story" of the base game with the prophet is solo, as is the mage's guild quest line though.

This game has a loooooooooot of content, mechanics and things to do outside of regular questing, so much so it can be overwhelming for new players. Honestly the base game would be a good starting point, hell I'm like 600 hours in and still haven't explored all the base areas. The basic horse which is still functionally the same as the others costs 10k which isn't a lot of gold.

I played during the pre-release betas and still had my forum account long after the game was released. I rarely posted, but I did read the forum a lot (mainly to get info and feedback on updates, waiting for them to fix the things that put me off buying originally). Oddly enough my forum account got deactivated the day after I bought the game. Probably because I was posting more at that point. But I was able to get it reactivated when my copy arrived and I registered it.

Anyway, questions:

1. How do i get the most out of my money. Do I just by the game and sub. Or should I wait with subbing. Or what should I do?

Opinions on this vary. Some people think the game is unplayable without ESO+, others think it's a total waste of money and most people probably fall somewhere in between.

For what it's worth I've been playing for just over 2 years and I've subscribed for a grand total of 2 months - both times I got it mainly so I could dye my costumes (one-piece outfits bought from the crown store, you can only dye them if you're a subscriber or by buying dye stamps which only allow you to use pre-set colours). The crafting bag is also useful - it stores an infinite amount of crafting materials without them taking up any room in your inventory. But I never minded having them in my inventory/bank either because I don't have much else to store there. I have no interest in the other ESO+ benefits, crowns are cheaper if you buy the 5,500 crown packs than the 1,500 pack/sub, and buying the DLC out-right is also cheaper than subscribing to get access to it.

I'd suggest starting off without it and see how you get on - if you find yourself wanting one or more of the benefits maybe try it for a month and then go back, and if you decide you prefer playing with the sub benefits then you could keep subscribing.

2. On the website, it says one thing about what you get in the digital collector’s edition. But if I follow this link more stuff is listed. What is correct?

I'm not sure. Some of that was advertised as pre-order bonuses, but now it seems it's all included in the collectors edition, but maybe only if you buy directly from ZOS. I'm confused too so I'll let someone else answer this one.

4. I saw in an old video, that mounts costs a lot, and you don’t get much gold, from loot. This is part of the reason that I’m interested in the collector’s edition. But is it still true? And the treasure maps do sound interesting. I assume the pets are cosmetic, so not important. As I would be new to the game, I won’t be rushing with leveling, as I want to experience the game, and explore, so experience scrolls won’t be important to begin with. Etc.

The video you saw is probably from back in the very 1st year of the game. Back then there were 4 mounts you could buy with gold - a basic one for 10,000g (not a huge amount of money but new players would still have to save up to get it) and 3 more expensive ones which had better stats - which meant many people would avoid buying the basic one and save up longer to get them. Also if you bought a mount only that 1 character had it - so if you had 4 characters you had to buy 4 mounts.

That made the horse which came with the special edition - which cost 1g - very desirable.

But now all mounts have identical stats, and they're account wide so once you buy one all your characters can use it. You can still get the basic horse (and the more expensive ones) with gold or you can buy a whole variety of mounts in the crown store. I think many of them are over-priced for what they are, but I have bought some. You can also get horses with various versions of the game - the armored one is exclusive to the Morrowind collectors edition and the white one is exclusive to the Imperial Upgrade, I think the palomino that comes with the Gold Edition can be bought in the crown store however.

Basically you have far more options to get mounts now so getting one with a special edition is not important, but if you want that specific one or want the other bonuses it's not a bad choice.

4. Is the server full pvp?

No. There is a dedicated PvP zone you can go for from level 10 onwards, and small arenas called Battlegrounds for team fights. But outside of that the only way anyone can attack you is by sending you a duel invite which you need to accept before the fight will start. You can refuse any duel you like, and there is an option to disable invites.

PvP - all forms - only allows other players to kill you. They can never take any of your items even if they defeat you, and you don't lose any XP or items or anything when you die.

5. I saw a video (a very old one) that said, it was kind of pointless to do quest, with other players, as the npc might disappear after the first person, has interacted with it. Is it still like this? (It is properly not important, as I would probably play alone. But it is nice to be able to play with others).

I'm pretty sure they've fixed this now.

6. I saw a video, where they said, there might be issues for new players, with the “app” or updating the game. Is this still going on?

Occasionally after an update there can be problems with the launcher - which can affect anyone, not just new players. But other than that there's no problem.

One other thing:

You might already know this but if not it might be useful to know: following an update called One Tamriel the entire game is level scaled. If you follow the storyline it will still lead you through zones in a set order and introduce you to the people and the area as you're going along (if you pay attention to the text that is), but it means you don't have to follow it or wait to level up - if you decide you want to go somewhere different you can simply go.

How is the game for a casual person?
I mostly just want to level, craft a bit. explore, questing, rob npc's etc. How is the game in that direction?
Some games are more for hardcore people. And some have focused alot in 1 aspect
