What is your threshold for putting someone on ignore list?

Where is the "Turn off chat and do everything solo" option? Its essentially the same as putting everyone on ignore

Haven't had to put anyone on it yet. Though I guess my threshold is on the hight side - only if they repeatedly pester or spam me specifically...

Since launch I put maybe 10 people on the list. Only people that are beyond inappropriate and make fun about sexual violence.
I usually empty the list a couple of month later again because I rarely see/read the same people twice.

I only ignore people for excessive spamming. Especially in Cyrodiil, where zone chat is far too valuable to turn off, but there are a lot of people who just won't stop their inane blathering. There have been a few people in my trade guilds with the same affliction, also ignored.

I also have an extremely high tolerance before reporting anyone. I've only done it a handful of times over the years, and always for statements so far beyond the pale that no moderately reasonable person could possibly think were ok.

I dont have anyone on my ignore list. I enjoy the salt I get from pvp. Its sorta funny...the social and behavioral norms of the game are almost exactly opposite of real life. Its an interesting thing to witness from grown adults.

I typically just ignore people who bother me that I see frequently. 9/10 if I have a problem with another player I can excuse them from the group. They can go back to roleplaying as a handyman or an angry drunk.

None. I don't care how "offensive" one's choice of words is. To ignore them is to close off interaction. If you are overly sensitive and ignore everyone, why not play a single player game? This is a MMO. It brings different people with differing views and perspectives. Get over it.

I've seen dudes make emphasis-scarequotes "jokes" about lynching and hate violence, maybe trotting out tired plattitudes about "getting over it" isn't the wisest response to this thread.

No, from the results of the poll getting over it looks like the best advice. Most people who voted look like they would rather 'get over it', than ignore someone. Heh

I tend to block loud, obnoxious microphones in zone chat. I block the "high threshold" category of people and I also write them on my "blacklist" where I write names and the reason why I blocked. Otherwise, "medium threshold" or lower goes on the written blacklist so that I know in the future to not play with them. Totally stupid that the block list has a cap.

I used to report hate speech from zone chat but the responses to my tickets always suggested I ignore them so I just do that now. I also ignore the people who get baited into responding to them. I'm not going to forced to be an audience for any of that garbage while I'm trying to see who's looking for help with a world boss. I'm not here to change people's hearts, I'm here to play a game.

I have maybe one, or two (or maybe even none) on my list. It's not because of the shortage of jerks, mind you.

I've got an even higher threshold for reports. Far as I can remember, I've never reported someone. Ah wait! I did! But that was a bot. That didn't count. It had no soul.

I have no one on my ignore list, but the criteria to get put on it is very, very specific.

Either you're being an annoying lil jerk and spamming me in whispers with harassing messages or a gold seller.

    That's it.

The things on high threshold are violations of the game's rules, and they get the report button.

Ignore mainly gets saved for people who are just unreasonably rude.

But I usually play with zone chat closed, and when zone chat is open, I usually have the fortune to find myself in a zone with decent people.

when a venue gives you tools to curate your own experience, it's expected that they are there for your full use. Others who message you, by agreeing to play the game at all, have already agreed to that others might ignore them or use the full suite of tools available. there's no reason not to ignore anyone who bothers you at any time, at your own discretion.

If someone is sending me unpleasant rage messages in Cyrodiil or acting like a child with their parents' credit card info, I'll put them on my ignore list but remove them later on cause I know sometimes people are just in a funk sometimes. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that someone and their symbiotic slime found permanent residence on the list for death wishes against my family and attempting to make my integrity seem questionable to others.

I often wonder if the fact that someone has a massive ignore list tells us more about that person than it does about the people on it.

I don't agree with the order in which you put the different kinds of players to ignore.
My ignore list is half way full, mainly for the following reasons:
    - spamming in zone (especially Cyro)
    - kicking me from group finder groups (if you kick my alt, I'll make sure to never carry you on my main)
    - if I need one enemy somewhere to test stuff and they kill it over and over again even though I asked them not to do so

However, I think it's a lot more fun to troll scammers than putting them on ignore. When someone offered you the "fake" tempering alloys, the best thing to do, was tell it's not worth trading such small numbers of items. When they came back from buying more of those trait stones to offer you, telling them you are currently towerfarming on a pop locked campaign, but they are free to join you to trade there was a decent way to keep them busy.

And for sexist / racist behaviour, it's part of the game's lore (and even part of the backstory of my main), so depending on my mood I'll just rp with them. It can lead to funny results, if someone tries to offend you as player, but you respond in rp style, as if they were offending your character.

All it means is they don't want to put up with any bull, or see racism/nastiness/politics/spamming in zone chat. I totally understand that. I only have two on my list because I just ignore 99% of the bull.

    Generally speaking? Low thresh-hold.

It's not censorship if your not silencing them from being heard by everyone, and I've never felt the need to sit and talk to a brick wall, or try to defend myself from the unreasonable, considering in both cases IRL the only reasponse that will bear any fruit with these people is violence.
