Stamplar or StamSorc Pvp?

Prysom
Prysom
Hello,

New to playing ESO (returning player I should say) I'm currently lvl 20 Magdk looking to build tank for pvp/pve. Now I'm looking at DPS options as well. I'm stuck on Stamplar or StamSorc and would like some Pro's/Con's of both. I'm looking to probably be in the Non-CP Campaigns for when I really wanna legit fight but I do enjoy a mass zerg from time to time so the CP would be pretty fun as well. Can any experienced Stamplar/StamSorc tell me how you preform out there in battle? Are they fun/entertaining as well as strong if built right?

Currently I play on PC/EP faction if that matters at all for any reason. But anyways thanks in advance for the tips. I look forward to seeing what information you have for me.

I'm also curious about survivability per class as well as things like Vamp/WW which is a preference or none of those at all. Any tips/tricks or advice you can think of.

StamBlade is really fun for non-CP because people have less stats and resistance and are vulnerable to burst. Also non-CP are less laggy so you can use quick combos for burst. With 1-2 proc sets and resource poisons you can kill people in 1-2 hits

Forgive me as I've never played Templar but what kinds of abilities do they have that help with burst? If in Non-CP you can 1-2 shot someone hows the survival on a templar as well do you get 1-2 shot as well in Non-CP? I'm looking for something thats a bit tanky but also a bit of damage in here. Both Sorc and templar have my eye I'm just not sure which to go.

Also is Werewolf builds a thing in this game or is that not viable in pvp?

    Viper - Selenes - Hurricane - Smash

Do that on a StamSorc and you'll be a PVP God in no time.

I assume based off the names that Viper/Selenes are armor and Hurricane/Smash are skills?
Can Sorc's heal as much as Templars?

Selenes and Viper are gear, yes. Crazy OP combo. Hurricane is a StamSorc ability creates a massive AoE around the caster that will proc both S and V but also allow you to use any other ability while it happens. SMASH was just me using a generic term for a melee ability that you can use while the rest is going on. Many people use dizzying swing or wrecking blow. I'm sure there are others.

Neither can heal as much as a Magplar or Magsorc but both can run Vigor to self heal.

Honestly man, and I say this as someone who plays a Magplar since Beta ... what I just told you is a recipe to melt my face. Enjoy it man.

Not sure if Magplar is strong. I'm guessing so based off that last comment? Yea I'm sure I'll end up making both. Or even Stam sorc then magplar to have a stam dps and magik dps. Not sure just getting into the game again and having a really hard time choosing which class to go for my first dps class. Thanks for the input :)

Magplar, in the right hands can be simply amazing. In the wrong hands you get a Breath of Life spamming wet noodle thrower. It's probably the easiest to learn but the hardest to master because Magplars allow for the most variety of awesome builds. Personally I'm a DPS-Healer-Tank ... yes ... it is actually possible. I have 50k+ magic (in CP) and almost maxed resistances. In non CP I still have north of 42k magic but I lose much of my tankiness.

All the stam variations are pretty balanced at the moment.

    Stamsorc:
Pros: Best mobility, best resource management, very strong class passives add damage
Cons: Completely reliant on weapon skill lines (e.g., 2H and Bow)

    Stamplar:
Pros: Biting Jabs frees you from traditional weapon setups, highest sustained pvp damage, huge burst from PoTL, class-based cleanse
Cons: Worst stamina resource management (very reliant on heavy attacks), low class mobility outside of 2H/Bow combo, no class-based Major Brutality
    Invictus
Kilandros - Dragonknight / Grand Overlord
Deimos - Templar / Grand Warlord
    Sias - Sorcerer / Prefect
Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

DK IS NOT JUST A TANK CLASS. #PLAYTHEWAYYOUWANT

Power of the Light. Very strong skill in PvP. Basically copies damage done to a target then goes off after 6 seconds, can deal up to 11-12k damage in pvp.

Niether are better then the other.

Each takes hundreds of hours and plenty of skill to be decent in PVP.

By the time your good tho, the meta may have changed.

Play what you like, and master it.

I actually play a LA Templar in non-CP PvP mostly. It's not that squishy but I do get killed a lot from being severely outnumbered because the faction I'm playing is particularly weak on that campaign (EU-PC: Sotha Sil - DC) and can't even hold on tho their scrolls and home keeps and the campaign is totally EP dominated. 1 v 1-3 players it's pretty strong, but vs. zerg there's no chance. My setup is:

5 Spinner's Garment (front bar) + 5 Shroud of the Lich (back bar) + 2 Valkyn Skoria (heavy head, medium shoulder) all impenetrable, sharp weapons on both bars. Both my damage and resource recovery are fine, even without CP. Actually no-CP the damage is much higher because people don't have the mitigation and the ~14K spell penetration is more than the resistance given by a 5M+2H setup w/o major ward. I've seen people perish from full health to a HA into Flame Reach -> reflective light -> radiant oppression combo before the last tick of the "jesus beam".

Front bar (Spinner sharp inferno): Flame Reach | Reflective Light | Radiant Oppression | Dark Flare | Inner Light | Ice Comet
Back bar (Lich sharp lightning): Puncturing Sweep* | Structured Entropy | Harness Magicka | Breath of Life | Channeled Focus | Eye of Storms**

*I tend to slot other skills there as well, depending on the situation: Ritual, Manouver, Siege Shield etc.
**I sometimes slot Solar Prison or Rememberance instead

I tend to stay mostly ranged and shield all the time. Reflective, Radiant, Puncturing and Entropy are all proper DoTs. Also the burning from inferno staff and the channel from medium/heavy lightning attack are considered DoTs. Most offensive ultimates also have a DoT component so Skoria will proc off them quite often.

@Prysom , I recommend playing both and deciding which you like. I know this is the second time I've seen you asking for class input. Frankly, you can't predict or rely on other peoples' predictions about which class you'll enjoy. It's clear that you don't know many of the abilities (and that's fine!), so you should get out there and experience them. And after you experience those classes, you need to think about playstyle and what you just find fun.

You're not going to find these answers on the forum, you're going to find them playing in the game.
