i'm seriously annoyed and i don't find it the least bit funny when other players keep pestering me (sometimes to the extend that i simply HAVE to block them) about items i just looted of a dungeon boss or from a dolmen chest. there is a reason you can not see what loot other players got and no one has the right to use an addon to snoop around in other peoples bags!

i'm not interested in any reasoning why one should see what others got from a boss or why this would help or whatever else. i don't want anyone to be able to see my loot and i don't have to accept someone using an addon to go through my things.

Accept it or don't accept it, it will keep happening. If people are jerks about it, tell them off and move on.

I don't know if you're aware of this OP, but grouped or not I can also see your mundus buff, whether you've remembered to eat recently, if you're carrying magelight, your class, your CP, and I know what color your underwear is.

    The addon is usefull
If you do not want to trade anything you can junst answer "no"
If someone starts to bother you, you can just use "ignore" option on his/her account.

    Don't see any problem

The other day in game some one talked to me. I was so uncomfortable. I ended up locking myself in my room with the lights off for three days. I hate these addons. It shows me other people's loot I am afraid to ask about, and then other people talk to me about my loot.

    HOW F-WORD DARE THEY!

They talk to you just because they want your loot. RNGesus cursed you with this object of their desire, wanting you to suffer the greatest mortal dilemma - should you respond to a complete stranger's /w? Oh, the absolute horror you have been trough, and the smell of week old socks under that desk you had to spend evening under after that dreadful moment. Better cancel ESO+, delete game, cut down internet and electric power, hide in toilet instead ( at least you got domestos or cilit bang there, smells better than socks) and never get out. When they find your corpse in few weeks after you perished from famine, they could only try to guess what made you end your existance in such a horrific manner. And you will be somewhere else, where u could ask RNGesus himself why did he tested your faith in such cruel way, why did he bestow that cursed item upon ye, why were you receiving /w from stranger in a MMORPG...

I have this addon - I usually go "hey man, an item that I need dropped for you, you need that?"
If they don't respond, I ask again later before the end of the dungeon run.
If they say "I need that item sorry"
    Then I say "cool"

To OP: learn some social skills man, ffs.
Just say you need the item.

ALSO, I FKN DARE...because, if ZoS allows it, then it is a feature... :p

I don't like the idea of others peeking into my backpack, but these addons don't bother me that much: they have their uses when you are running with friends or with a group looking for specific drops.
And it's also entirely possible to tell the other person that you need the "epic loot" for another of your characters (which is usually true for me anyway, I play 14 characters and they all use at least 2 full set ups).

My very first dungeon, some guy with this add-on completely went off on me because I got something he was farming for for hours. I didn't even notice he was talking (a lot) until I left the dungeon. The last thing he wrote was pretty brutal, so I just reported and ignored.

At the time, I was level 16, so whatever I looted could not have been worth the effort this guy put into bugging me for it, and inevitably cussing me for not trading it to him.

It doesn't matter if it's this add-on, or something else, rude people will be rude.

"I need that for an alt."

@klowdy1 , no one gets the right to be pissed because you happened to get a drop that you and at least one other person needed.

Unless you've joined a group specifically, and very courteously too, I might add, to farm for that person for these items, the general rule goes like this:
    • If you need the item to finish off a set for one or more characters, you keep it.
    • If someone else received an item you need more and can swap for it, it's your call.
    • If someone's been a complete ass the entire time, either harassing you for it or for a handful of other reasons, probably best to say "No," if you say anything at all.
    • If you genuinely don't need the item, again, it's your call.
    • Last one's optional, depends on group member preferences, etc, but I usually trade item for item I'll at least try to give you an ornate to sell or an equivalent quality to decon for mats, but only if you have room and want it.
    • Don't be that guy and ask someone to buy something that's going to be bound in two hours. If they need it and you don't, count on the fact that they'd do the same if the situation was reversed.

if you want a certain item you can ask in advance if you may have it in case someone loots it. and if someone does and doesn't want to give it to you then that's his/her good right. period.

and to anyone who does use these addons - how dare you? HOW F-WORD DARE YOU?!

    Not, it shouldn't

    Usually it going like:
    - Hey (name) can I have your (itemlink) if you don't need it please?
    - No, I need it
    - Ok, np, ty )

Is it a BIG deal for you? If yes, maybe you don't need to play MMO then? Or, at least, don't play in group with randoms?

And if someone annoys you, then, he would able to do that not only with loot you've got. Just ignore him.

Heres what i do. Normally i offer whatever i got in a run after the final boss is defeated, but if someone uses one of those addons and asks to get something from me before i even offer it to group i say "No, i dont deal with peeping toms" and put them on ignore. And thats really the best thing you can do until such addons are banned. Ignore em
@KeiruNicrom People ask because players most often won't even notice what they looted if they don't want it. If you block someone for asking "Hey do you need x?", you have a problem.

yeah- i feel conflicted. its hella creepy - i dont like when people suddenly ask about something I've picked up when i havent shared it to anyone .

    but...

i was farming the final piece of a trial set- tfs- it was taking weeks- literally weeks off of my life. i decided i was desperate enough to get it. after 3 runs- i could see what everyone got- and ask directly if they needed it or not. it so happened after 3 runs- i got the last couple of pieces and more- in better traits- and in more cases than not- the people i asked- wouldn't have bothered to look for me if i hadnt asked- and in others- someone else would have beaten me to the trade. so in that case- yeah i was creepy- but i dont regret it- it saved me time. but now i have my pieces- i ve turned it off.

This is pretty much where I am with things. Ive run so many dungeons I really pay no attention to what drops or who got what. I don't need anything, why would I? So if you end up in a group with me if you don't have the addon and you are looking for a specific item you are probably SOL if I get it. Because I'll never know I have it until I am at the crafting station deconstructing it.

I'm often curious on console about what others receive.

Perhaps IF this was not an add-on ZOS could offer a flag, to signify what a person needs, so everything could be open for trade so it blocks the need/want

Can't see the add-on doing this as it would require everyone to have it running.

I get why it upsets you tho OP. It's very annoying to be asked for this and that.

    LoL I'll give it a try :-)

    tl/dr

    1. Nothing in abbreviation "MMO" means I should interact with other players when I do not want to.
    2. Any "trade demand" is an act of interaction I did not ask for. If I will want to trade I will link my items in chat. That's invitation to trading, nothing else. Why should I think about response why I do not want to trade with somebody? This is natural to do not want to trade with strangers. Otherwise I will link items blah, blah, blah.
    3. I deconstruct items I do not need. If they are treasures for somebody it is even more enjoying. Farm harder for them, not my problems. Gold means nothing in this game anyway. I was farming for my gear and never asked for loot sharing. (And I have disabled the part of LUI Extended which allows you to see group loot).

I'm also against such addons. It is your loot after-all but if players see your loot table and ask for it will you be able to say no to them once you know they helped you big time in the past? Maybe not. So you get ripped of your precious stuff. If you tell them to go away they might get upset and drama might start in seconds. Either way people who use such addons are using them for their advantage more than others advantage.

In my opinion those addons need to be reworked. Instead of showing you what everyone else got, they should show everyone what everyone else got. Additionally there should be a toggle that allow a player to not take part into the loot sharing so if they want to keep their privacy they could. This share system should activate for everyone from that group regardless if they have the addon or not. Once you initiate the addon. Each of the players should be able to decide if they want to share or not to share the loot.

I decided I like that addon after I got used to it. I don't even know what's good for stamina builds, and I don't need any of that stuff. If I can give it to somebody who wants it, they win and I feel like I got to cheat BOP. BOP sucks.

If I need the gear myself, I just say no. So far no bad experiences with that.

I use one of these and heavily prefer to have the feature.

In addition, I recognize that others have the capability to do the same, so I proceed assuming other people may know what loot I have gotten.

Given all of that, I don't give away loot that I do not desire to give away. It is my decision, and it is mine.

I am very generous with loot I don't need (given some value pieces away before, my philosophy is that it will all come back to you one day).

But if it's a piece I'm not willing to give, I simply won't give it and don't care if other people know I have it.

I remember one occasion where I got a bone pirate sharpened sword on my mag sorc. Guy kept trying to pester me to give it to him because his add on told him I got it. He was persistent, but I had no interest in giving it away. It was annoying, but I feel it is his right to ask for something if he wants and as long as he isn't spamming my whispers after we leave the dungeon, I don't really have a problem with it.

"MMO" means "Massively Multiplayer Online" and that acronym applies to games.
Let me put this in a more detailed way :
    - "Massively" means that you get to play not only with friends but also with strangers
    - "Multiplayer" means that you get to interact with people and that they get to interact with you, whether you've asked for it or not.
    - "Online"... well, irrelevant here, it's just what makes the "Massively" and the "Multiplayer" possible
    - and, last but not least, "Game". Which means that people are there to have fun and relax.

While none of it strictly implies that you MUST interact with others if you don't want to, it allows nonetheless other people to TRY and interact with you without your prior approval. They don't deserve to be treated badly (and ignoring is quite an agressive response) just for talking to you.

You're of course entitled to be who you are and to play how you want, even to enjoy other people's frustrations. There are people like that. However, I wonder if you wouldn't be better off in a bunker with 6-months food stocks and a copy of Skyrim and The Witcher 3. They're both amazing games, with guaranteed NO INTERACTION whatsoever with that major annoyance called "other people" ;-)

Admittedly sometimes I feel "forced" to trade gear that I'd have liked to keep for myself. But that's because people are friends, have helped me in the past, and are people that I enjoy in general.
And as it looks, those people are much more valuable to me than the damn piece of gear that I can perfectly play without anyway.
