Also didn't they say that through "Creation Club" that Bethesda will be making content for Skyrim again?

Yep but this time they are making it work so they'll have to approve of every single mod before it can even be given that privilege.

It's still going to be a disaster when it launches though. They'll be getting so many "this guy stole X mod" and "this guy just ripped out this asset X thing and called it their own!" and last but not least "THIS IS JUST A HUD COLOR CHANGE!". And boy of Boy, I can't wait to watch that train wreck happen

Yeah, was disappointing. Especially the VR remake, VR remake, mod money-grab scheme, and snoozefest 2017.

Although, Wolfenstein II looks somewhat promising, as did the Evil Within II depending on whether they are open world games or not.

Hey, at least we have Cyberpunk 2077 to look forward to in the next decade. HA

Disappointing. Only thing remotely interesting to me was the Fallout/Skyrim VR stuff, and they didn't really address how they were going to handle VR movement in those games (though they did show "teleporting" in the first game they showed). Movement is the really tricky part in VR games (and what can make you sick if it's not done right).

It's probably going to be awful between movement and graphical issues. Don't get me wrong I love Bethesda games but their controls are bit clunky and dated... Skyrim melee in VR would be akin to riding a roller coaster with the camera bobbing up and down with every swing.

As for graphics Boston already lags the heck out of FO4 basically no matter what you play on - I'm not sure VR is up to the standards yet... I'm sure low FPS gameplay in VR can be quite nauseating as well..

Don't have high hopes for that - there's a big push for VR going on in the industry, but I don't think VR is ready yet - and I don't think the majority of gamers are quite ready yet either.

Honestly getting annoyed at bethesda seriously its getting to Star Wars new hope then director cut then 3D version then added special effects .. they keep spitting out the same crap Sh.tting on there customers ...
now let's spit out old games that we did years ago but this time in VR..
how many versions of skyrim and fallout 4 are we going to get before they pull there finger out of there arse and make a new game like elder scrolls 6...
Is this the norm for this company now screw more money out of obsolete decade old games and call it progress?
Skyrim was awesome game only reason ppl now throw stupid money at eso keeping them afloat!!
Fallout 4 great game as well but seriously it's over move on!

jesus what was that? Pete Hines said it was gonna be the best e3 ever for bethesda...new ip's? biggest projects ever? open world games? tes vi?

sorry bethesda, this was the worst of all presentations so far and the others were bad too...the e3 this year is just in one word "meh"

I agree with the Bethesda presentation. As far as all of E3, I'd say Microsoft had a very strong show this year with the Xbox One X and the titles shown.

well strong in comparison...they had to go all out but i wasn't floored or anything... and bethesda approaching the paid mods again...i don't know how i feel about that...as a pc player not too good...maybe good for consoles i don't know

Honestly, as a modder? Pretty good.

I fully expect to get set on fire over this, but, here's the thing: As a modder, there is no way to make a living at this.I know, I know, we're, "supposed to do this because we love it." Yeah, that's great. Unfortunately I can't pay my rent with, "love of the hobby."

I know, I know, I can just, "put up a Patreon..." except, you know, I can't. Because, I'm not allowed to produce content commercially with the tools provided. Does Patreon transform the threshold of my mods into a commercial product? I don't know. I certainly don't have the money to fight Bethesda's lawyers if they come knocking. And, we're talking about a company that protects it's IPs very aggressively. So, I really don't want to find out the hard way when I get put on the street by them.

More than that, Patreon is a wonderful system. If you get lucky, and get people's attention with it. But, most people simply don't contribute. When it comes to the community, it's a wonderful way to kick the can down the road and say, "well, I won't, but I'm sure someone will give this person some cash for their work." Personal experience? No, they really won't. Not for 98% of the community.

Now, it would be dishonest of me to say that that everyone behaved in an ethical way when this was introduced. We had a paid mod that used other people's work. We had one where they inserted an ad for the paid version into the free version of the mod.

At the same time, if you want to provide the resources to modders to produce professional quality content, this is what it's going to take. And the community's collective tantrum over paid mods sent a very clear message to us. Or at least to me, and some of the other modders I've interacted with. They told us, "we love you work, we think it's absolutely vital to the games being enjoyable, but if you think you should be able to actually eat, you're just greedy." Which, seriously put me off of the Nexus's mod consuming community.

I know, Bethesda gets a cut. Hilariously, the actual cut was stupidly good for the modders. If you want to publish a book, you would not be able to get a royalty rate nearly that good, without having to market your product from scratch via self-publishing. But, no, the idea that modders, even just some modders, produce quality work worth actually paying them for... no, that was just, "greed."

    Ugh.

That's great and all, but do you know why I downloaded mods? Because it added minor changes to a game that I had already put 800 hours into. So I could maybe put a few more dozen hours in because it made it a bit different, and because it was free. Will I do that with paid mods. Definitely not. They are changing something that has basically been a hobby, hell a tradition, that has been going on for 15 years into a business. Sure it may be great for people that want to make a living at it, but what about the many people that just did it as a hobby just because they loved modding. Honestly, I never thought mods were vital to the game. It was just something cool to add a bit more flavor, and although I've donated to mod sites(Nexus). I only did it because it was free. They are making it very clear that "for the love of the game" is now "for the love of the money" and that is disappointing.

At least game companies would never take out something/or fail to put something into a game, knowing they could make money off of the customer later for it. Im glad things like that never happen.....

Actually, those pictures show how dated the game engine is. Nearly obsolete already from technology standards.

Here is a picture from Crysis 3 and the CryEngine from back in 2013. Its pretty bad when a game engine from 2013 looks way better. Don't give me "its an MMO " Look at Black Desert and the upcoming Ashes of Creation they all blow ESO out of the water graphically speaking by a very large margin. Put ESO down and play a modern Trriple a title release in 2016 or 2017 and you will se how dated ESO actually is.

You honestly think Black Desert Online looks better? Some of the world assests are laughably bad. Go look at the grapes on a vine and compare them to the ones in ESO. The character creator is good, but when loaded in game it gets reduces by a ton to minimise impact on the world and has a number of flaws in the mapping on them.

The event itself was fantastic, had a lot of fun at Besthesdaland.

However, I don't plan on buying Skyrim again for my Switch, I have a ton of mods on the PC and wouldn't be able to take that with me, not all that fun, a bit bored of seeing Skyrim milked until it's beyond dry.

At any rate, the new DLCs look fantastic, two new dungeons with possibly great monster masks and new content in the form of Clockwork City is just grand. Do I wish we saw more? Sure. But it seems ESO has plenty of cool stuff coming in the pipeline to keep us busy.
